There is a point in time, just before the garbage truck arrives, after everyone had all weekend to take what they like. That is when I go out to save what I can 👍

I don’t knock if it’s just the one thing I take but I’ve found the courtesy knock is the way to go. Especially if I’m going to be digging around and turning stuff over. Also there’s the chance they have more or can be a future connect. I met both my washer guys this way 👌

Do you mainly pick for resale value? I see you grab washers, dryers, microwaves and things of that nature but i also notice you leaving a lot ot metal behind. Personally i take the vacuum cleaners and take the motors and scrap the armatures as small motors. I also take the copper and magnets out of the magnatron of a microwave. I find it rather wasteful and heartbreaking to watch some scrappers throw anything with a motor in to the steel pile, but to each his own i guess.
I’d say resell is the main game. I’ve still got a lot to learn but the more I do this the more scrap I’m skipping. A lot of it I’ve found is not worth the time it takes me. Trying to find the right balance. Part of the problem for me is my storage setup. The flow of it needs a review 😅

Not sure if you’re aware, but I only go out on garbage day, so what you’re seeing are the things that nobody wanted all week and weekend. I try to save what I can manage before the garbage truck crushes it all.
