Stuff I used in the video:
Carbide Burrs: amzn.to/40SyuJs
Mig welder: amzn.to/3EtDoFe
After Thoughts about the Video: Each curved section was around 5.5ft. For the upper I cut off about 6" and the lower I cut a length in half so I could use it for 2 rails. Overall they're around 7' long.

I like the ratchet strapping the ramps to the hitch / bumper so they don't slide out - that's pretty smart

I can attest to mower decks bottoming out on flat ramps. I picked up a set of arched off CL back when it was popular and have loaded everything including small cars, golf carts, utv's etc. Those "Tramp Ramps" (trampoline lol) look like they'll handle just about anything you throw their way. As always, enjoyed the time spent watching my Friend build stuff. Cheers Moe! Zip~
Thanks brother
Good stuff as usual. I was hoping to see a mower going into the bed. I like that you're always using recycled material. It's fun to make something useful out of junk.
I often come across unwanted trampolines and always wanted to make something out of them, now i know what to do! Thanx!
The ramps look like they’ll get the job done..good build .. I see Ginger was having a blast as well..oh..I only came to see Ginger 💖..lol.
Great use of old materials! I like your style
I only found this channel a few weeks ago but you have some unique content. It's fun to see someone doing things who thinks differently. Very interesting stuff.
Great Idea 💡👍 !!!
When i was a kid in the 90’s i made a half pipe out of a trampoline frame. Good memories.
Good stuff. Happy Motoring and snow romping.
Those things are stout! Very nice
You chose the perfect section of that reversed curve to produce the best overall approach and landing whether loading or unloading. Good save on the trampoline parts which had the ideal radius to start with. This is a good example of the intersection of art and science. You have to do the math and measurements to prove the design, but it takes the expert eye of the artist to envision the aesthetic/mechanical function that you're trying to realize. Nicely done. Good girl, Ginger!
I just came across a bunch of scrap steel. You’ve given me some fun ideas 👍🏻 always enjoy the videos.
Cool ramps. Get job. 👍👍❤...
Nice build.
Nice build, sir.
A month after I scrapped my old trampoline.
I turned my kid's old trampoline into a canopy cover for an old Ford tractor. The roof is perfectly curved and I used the straight pieces, that held up the safety mesh, as the legs. The trampoline leg pieces were used to tie the 4 curved roof "trusses" together. The roof is 10ft lengths of wavy sheet metal fastened to the structure with self tappers. Easy peazy
Sounds like you put that old trampoline to good use!
I do have to admire his creativity, but videos like this make me wonder why I spent 12+ years obtaining undergraduate and graduate degrees in engineering and also obtain a state license. I didn't realize that engineering could be so easy.
If you cut a "flatwasher" out of an innertube, and put it under the collar that tightens your holesaw pins, the compression works like a lockwasher to keep the pins from backing out. 😁🇨🇦👍🏻
Nice job.
On mine i just drilled a 1/4 " hole down through the angle iron and the top of the tailgate and wekded in a couple spikes.
Saves a lot of time hooking up straps.
Moe those look great. I picked up a set of aluminum folding curved ramps at harbor freight for $80 about a year ago. I'm glad I got them. Making a set looks hard.
Your perseverance paid off. What a great set of ramps!
I love seeing things repurposed, good idea to make ramps out of them. I know what you mean about bottoming out, I was trying to load my big Kawasaki onto my truck and it got stuck halfway, lucky there was some blokes to help me that day.
A few people actually got a free trampoline the past couple days. Nice work, my friend!
The wind exchange program... Look kids we got a trampoline!
@sixtyfiveford hahaha... that's funny.

The best part of your videos is Ginger ...You guys who incorporate your pets in your instructional videos just make it so much more entertaining..What happens is Ginger becomes synonymous with your name and she / they are a warm welcoming addition ..I watch many videos of do it yourself things and the guys who introduce their pets into the videos ..I dono ...it just feels more realistic and relatable ..Enjoy Ginger as much as you can !!
Damn, those ramps look really nice. Great work as always Moe. I would someday love to come up there maybe stay in a Hotel and meet ya and help you with a thing or 2!
Nice project👍!
Thanks for the video.
You're making Ace Hardware jealous with that inventory damn !!! 🙂
Nice ramps!
Oh that's a great idea!
Yeah I'm pretty happy with how they turned out.
nice work! good video
The real surprise is the tailgate handling it
Good ol overbuilt trucks.
Those are some heavy-duty ramps, nice work. 👍 Ginger didn't like that you were in the atv without her, but she didn't mind being stuck in the snow. She is such a sweetheart. 😊
She's always down for a ride.
a bit of expanded metal helps for things with smaller tires that will have issues with the rungs
Good one Moe....Just be careful with those on the tail gate. If you hit the gas a little too hard it can kick the ramp off of there.
👍👍👍. Thank you
Wished I had a set of those in my collection.
Nice job 👍
Next time bring the wife. She could push 😄😄
A VERY USEFUL TOOL !!!!~~~~
It helps a lot to air down in the snow.
Yep. This was at 4-5psi
I built a carport building out of the arches for roof and it’s for my zero turn mowers
And storage on roof for my
Heavy Duty aluminum ladders it’s really cool and really cheap.
Going on 10 years of storms and wind 🤷🏻♂️👍🏼✌🏼
Building a carport/shed was my original plan for these.
Awesome, I think your tailgate is the weakest link now aha
Great content!
The approach angle seems steep especially if you are trying to push something up the ramp. Build for the worst scenario. 👍
Worst case scenario you just grab the come along and pull it in. Riding mowers though generally two guys can just lift the thing and push it in. Or I've done many by myself without ramps by tipping it backwards onto its rear straight up, backing the truck up to it with the tailgate down, dropping the front wheels onto the tailgate and heaving the back end up and into the truck. The problem with building stuff for the worst case scenario is it inconveniences you for the 99% of the time that you don't need it. Worst case scenario I would have kept these at 11 ft long, added a bunch of support to strengthen it for the increased length (weight). Sounds miserable.
Looked like a lot of work building them, but worth it. They came out great.
Yeah, probably 6hrs.... But that was time I didn't spend watching RUclips. And in 3 weeks from now I will never remember but I got some cool ramps out of it.
@@sixtyfiveford A much better use of time. And probably very satisfying building it. I waste so much time no YT and TV it's incredible. Well not a total waste of time, I get to see your videos and others and learn things :-)
Very good idea. I don't think they moved at least when you were testing them.
Creative thanks
Awesome! Now you need tracks for the polaris rzr lol. Would be cool if you tried to build your own tracks similar to the ones for your Yamaha Rhino.
I actually do have a set of tracks for the RZR. I had plans to build my own set for years. I have drawings and everything But it always came down to not being able to replicate a set of four for cheap. I was originally going to salvage some old snowmobiles for the rubber tracks but finding Four identical or even close enough snowmobiles for a reasonable price seems to really kick it out of reality. There are a few people that have done it and they always spend three to four grand just on parts to put together something. It would make more sense if it was for a truck or something or tracks cost $10 to $15,000. But when you can pick up a used set of at /utv tracks for $500 bucks....
Never knew about date on welding tank. Mine is 5-17 + *. So I should be good till 5-27. Cool Thanks Moe
Yeah my local place charges 40 plus bucks to hydro a tank that's out of date. So even if the tank isn't completely empty, I generally take it in and exchange it. Last time I did it 3 days before it expired.
Zig-zagging the stretchers or putting them in as diagonals helps with small diameter wheels.
My boy 65 with another 1
A few wraps of electrical tape is my go to for the hole saw arbor pins to prevent the nut from walking backwards when I stop my drill.
Nice simple solution!
I don’t have any experience with trying to drive up s ramps but it seems like they are going to be a steep incline. I hope they work
The occupant is actually lower to the ground during the peak incline and you decrease the incline as you get higher. It's actually way less nerve racking ramp loading experience.
I had an opportunity to get an old trampoline, but it ended up as scrap metal before I could get it picked up. I doubt it was as strong in the sidewalls as what you had there, but it was worth $5.00 to the scrap yard where my impatient brother took them because he couldn't wait a week. He was as impatient as Ginger was to get riding when you were both stuck in the snow. I heard her whining.
Scrap just never seems worth it to me.
I don't know how much weight the pivot pins of that tailgate support are rated for but I think you exceeded whatever it is by double or more!
Old trucks were overbuilt.
Nice project! I kind of have a hatred of those things, buggies. I have a 4X4 Toyota that I hear is not allowed in the woods, but $60,000 buggies are AND they can drive them on the road! Nothing but super bright lights from them. Plus it just amazes me how people drive them endlessly, WHEEEeeee BRBRBRBRBRBppt.. You have a nice Ford, roll up windows, heat, AC, radio, weather tight and cost less. Bet this will go over like that time that I said I hated dogs, I've been in tens of thousands of backyards, and this lady over heard me, walked up and told me I must be an evil man. My favorite is the customer saying their yorkies don't bight when my ankles are already bleeding. Might want to keep an eye on those tailgate hangers.
I hated the buggies until I drove one.
@@sixtyfiveford My neighbor took me on a ride at dusk and he is crazy, driving extremely fast around blind corners and such. I learned to drive chasing aircraft like a rally racing, guess I'm getting to old for crashes. He is the reason we can't go on the other neighbor's twelve 80's, tore up their trails and up went the steel gates. BTW, I like your dog, I was watching it watching you. Not long ago, I read Are We Smart Enough To Know How Smart Animals Are? And the answer is NO. One time, someone wanted me to fix one of those, I took a good look underneath and not me. I'm like you, a electromechanical troubleshooter by trade.
👍🏼👍🏼
Did you loose some weight there mate? Looking good 👍
How do you know the welds on the 'lip' of the ramps - the part that interfaces with the truck bed is solid? Is that something that you've learned to trust overtime or is that something that you've thought about?
I think that just comes with years of welding. But also years of taking stuff apart that was welded. You can see how strong stuff is with particular welds when you're trying to cut them apart. Rule of thumb, the hotter the better for penetration. If you start to blow through, let off the trigger, let it cool for 5 seconds and go back at it. Then you can look back and say "that'll hold, it ain't going nowhere"
I see free trampolines often but i think they're all aluminum
They look like aluminum but they're galvanized steel.
The ramps are awesome and strong as heck. but isn't this a lot of weight to put on the tailgate?
As tailgates have progressed over the years they've got thinner and thinner sheet metal. This tailgate is actually off of 65 Ford and probably the thickest they ever made. They're probably more metal in the tailgate alone than an entire new truck body.
👍💯
I didn't see any deflection is those new curved ramps....The tailgate, well maybe a little:)
The tailgate wasn't too happy.
Would that make these tRAMPolines?
Lol
Are they heavy?😁😁
40lbs each. So easily moveable.
@@sixtyfiveford I was going to bet higher than that. Thanks.
I think Ginger's been on a diet
Why not have Ginger dig you out?...probably much quicker.
😎✌✌👍👍👍💪💪🧑🔧
