- From Prince Harry to the Queen: 'The New Royals' author Katie Nicholl Palace Confidential interview. Despite the uncertainty over the content of Prince Harry’s forthcoming memoirs, King Charles is determined to reconcile with his younger son, according to a leading royal author and broadcaster. Speaking on our royal talk show Palace Confidential, Katie Nicholl says that the issue is a priority for the monarch for a number of reasons. ‘The rift at the heart of the royal family is no secret, we see no signs of a real, long-term reconciliation, although I’m told that it’s very much on the King’s agenda,’ she says. ‘He knows that a royal family has to be a united royal family. That’s important for him on a person level and it’s important for him as the king. And I think we saw evidence of that with those olive branches that were extended to Harry and Meghan [recently].”

My reason, too. She said she’s she was using her sense of humor. Does she have children? Mine would not like to know any such story had been told about them. And the story isn’t true. It has changed my entire opinion about her. Bad judgement on her part, and thoughtless.

Based on the fact that she reported a private item about little George (and its likely that it didn't even happen) and exposed this child publicly, I can't buy this book in good conscience. She should have left the children alone. She exposed a little boy to public ridicule to make money. Awful !

Megan Markle’s supporters on social media have been viciously attacking Prince William, Princess Katherine, 7 year old Princess Charlotte, and King Charles for over a year, and which is well known by reporters/journalists who have reported on such. It is an easy call to know a “tidbit” about Prince George would result in a barrage of vile attacks, precisely as has happened, including wishing for his death. I still have yet to find any apology from Ms. Nicholls - I’m uncertain which source you have found. Notwithstanding, Ms. Nicholls used poor judgement or didn’t exercise any at all, and the damage is now done.

Quoting what someone said, even if they are a minor, is not bullying. The response others are having might be, but that's on them. The quote was hardly a big deal.

Jo, you made a mistake here by not holding Katie's feet to the fire about Prince George. I hope she was only guilty of misjudgment of the times - that the times are now different since she attributed a very similar quote to William many years ago. But if she is reusing the quote William made, shame on her, she should be sanctioned for that. That should have been touched on, because the Prince George quote has raised such a firestorm. I won't be buying her book.

Will not be buying her book. I used to be a fan of Katie Nicholl and her coverage of the RF. Not anymore. The Palace has denied her claims of little George saying what she claims. Anyone that exploits children as clickbait to sell books is not of interest to me. Why was she not asked to explain her actions on this show? That was a big disappointment.

Its the titles that are "owed to" Harry and his children? says this woman? Um, no its at the pleasure and decision of the current King. The 'owed to' is based on what George V thought about 100 years ago. Charles III can change it if he thinks that's what makes sense. And this 'owed to" attitude is what is at the heart of the problem with Harry, I think. Harry is absorbed with what he thinks he should have that he doesn't, instead of counting his considerable blessings.

I did not watch Nicholls. You say she said titles are owed to Harry and his children. Harry owes royal duties called work to Sussex and the UK, he is the one who owes something. Actual work, royal duties, he and his wife. Why keep a title of a duchy they do not represent? The nerve.

So many books published about the royals recently and maybe Ms Nicholls needed to draw attention to hers. Shame on her that she had to use a small vulnerable child to try to propel her book to the forefront with an apocryphal tale. No amount of a clipped upper crust accent nor personal presentation can make her look decent.

I used to like her, but I really haven’t too keen on her lately. She seems to lean to H&M and then the comments about George really made me not like her.
I think it is unfortunate that the author has decided that a child’s tale to their parent about another student should be included, without thought to the consequences. I’ve seen firsthand how a child can suddenly come up with a made up story about another child when a parent asks “did xxx do anything to yyy?” It’s so disappointing that this was included in the book.

As H&M don't live in the UK & people from the RF no longer have contact with them they are soon going to run out of stories & they have no friends in the UK to feed them.The last interaction was when the Queen died and they were barely included. I think that Harry and Meghan have already demonstrated that they don’t respect the titles and, even when they give assurances that they won’t undermine the monarchy, they do the complete opposite. They don’t hold up their end of the bargain and, in my opinion, will continue to disappoint if given the opportunity.

Charles needs to follow Denmark. You can’t have titles without obligation and duty. Titles should only be for direct heirs not all grandchildren of monarch. Makes no sense to have titles for anyone that is not servicing monarch. All titles are at discretion of monarch. Can be given and changed to keep with times. Makes sense for Charles to update letters of patent

He doesn't need to follow Denmark. HMTQ and Charles made declarations about a slimmed down monarchy years ago. Since then many European royal houses have followed suit, with Denmark being the latest to do this. In the UK we have the vote going through parliament. We were the first to suggest it but we need a vote in parliament as opposed to a decision by the head of state alone. Those countries are small, with small populations. We have 54 commonwealth countries to consider with 2.4*billion population.
It was disgraceful to use Prince George, a minor, for this ‘author’s own monetary gain. I would neither buy her book nor will I watch this video of such a person. A public apology should be tendered immediately & removal from any royal media events should be her reward

Christine, she was probably at the same event as him one time (years ago) & had the misfortune of having her picture taken with him before the scandal unfolded. Now people are putting the picture out there because she foolishly misspoke about George in her book. The probability is that she didn't know him at all & never met him again.

Omg Katie Nicholls knows absolutely nothing and see's things that are so different from what she is trying to profess. Andrew hasn't hung on the coat tails of being the "Spare". He served in the Royal Navy and did actually fight during a war and put his life on the line for the country and his fellow servicemen. H went to Afghanistan and spent more time in the bunker than he did anything else. He is the one that is hanging on the coat tails of the Monarchy and has done nothing of value since. Yes he was one of the many people that set up Invictus after it being copied from the Warrior games in the US. Everything else he has "achieved" has gone down the drain since he took his sulk and left. If H and his wife were to be brought back into the family the republic would win to end the Monarchy, after H&M's behaviour since leaving, and all their interviews (straight from their mouthes) not the media as their culties like to blame. Charles is listening to the country and commonwealth as many have made their feelings crystal clear and do not want them back as working/part time Royals.

The children need to be seen by everybody, family and British people, before any title. In the UK. And a DNA test would be quite useful. A king does not give royal titles to kids that he has never seen.
Also sworn statements by the delivering physicians they were 'born of the body'.
Why did she sensationalise n report the account about Prince George and his playground banter. All in a bid to appear relevant and in the know!? One wonders at her motives...the book rates 0. Shameful!!
I preordered the book but have cancelled the order. No one deserves a title--it should be earned. The children of Harry and Meghan are being raised in the US and we do not have titles in the US. The Sussex need to be stripped or called the Dumbartons!!
This woman is not impressive in the least. Won’t be buying her book because she, to try and be cute or relevant, told a lie about a young boy, making him fodder for all manner of social media trolls. It was NASTY. Not interested in supporting that behavior.
Actually the titles Prince and Princess of the 2 children would bear ZERO weight here in the states....makes absolutely no difference here whatsoever. We aren't a monarchy and these people make most of us laugh behind their backs at their ridiculous behavior over here! :D

Nice job of keeping a young child out of the news meaning Prince George.
The parents themselve put the children in the public eye in a very controlled way. It is fair play to report on the children in that way. The "agreement" with the media relates to unwanted photos of the kids while going about their daily lives. There are very few of those photos. Like it or not George is newsworthy and the parents know that. That is why the published photos of the children are released by the parents themselves
