Bob Kermit Not only that... There's fees and ordered stuff takes time to get to the shop. A swap itself with all the parts can be done in a weekend with 2 people.
Sage Wysocki they're used as access roads for workers to access the lodges or radio towers. When it snows in the winter, they are paved over with cats hence the name "cat tracks" that they are so often called.
There is your advice of the week guys: If you want a reliable off-roader that can climb a mountain, get an ML55 or a Porsche Vayenne instead of a Jeep. You heard it here first!
The Cayenne does have locking diffs. Push down on the lever next to the air suspension control once to go into low range. Press it again to lock the center diff. And press it a third time to lock the rear diff.
Not sure if this is stupidest...I remember a certain 70s land barge costing you quite a bit just to sell back to the guy you bought it from after fixing all the issues....
+The Trucking Beard Hey yeah! That's even better! I kinda felt he was overstating things! And others are saying it too. I guess this whole stupid thing could get expensive, and perhaps it already has gotten too expensive...still he is not really being completely honest here....which is kinda stupid...ironically
Waterpump could be bad on the Jeep... in addition to the hose. On my 99, the blades rusted off my pump completely. Also, the heater hoses, tubing and core like to clog with sludge. Might as well take care of all of that at once. One thing you can do with the Jeep is junkyard shop for oem upgrades, wheels, seats, cruise if you don't already have it.
Well duh, of course they can - if you have a fucking *road* all the way up. Except for F1 cars with minimal ground clearance, which car couldn't? I thought this would be a test to see if they could make it up the ski slopes.
Well he's not going to climb a bloody ski mountain what did you expect, anyways the cars are old and they had been broken multiple times so it can just break on them at any moment, imagine if he blows a head gasket whilst climbing a ski mountain, yeah...
Even though a lot of people said that the video wasn't that good because the challenge to get to the top wasn't that hard, I still found it a very very good and entertaining video!
Koen Backaert Well, considering ALL of these cars are broken in some way, it's not a bad video just a clckbaitish titled one. I don't understand why people are so put off by that.
I was watching this and waiting to see some seriously rugged testing. You just drove them on dirt roads. I grew up dirt roads like these back in the early 80's and went all 'Dukes of Hazzard' on them with my stock '77 Ford Pinto basically every day. It was even worse after a lot of rain because here in The South, we have a lot of slick red clay. Then we'd go Muddin' with basically stock 2wd cars. OK, so I know that sounded a bit harsh. I love your videos and the Hooptie Fleet. I wish I had discovered your channel earlier. I have a lot of catching up to do to see all of your vids. I find that I enjoy them much more than Doug's videos. ;)
Pibbles 'n Bits to be fair it is much more capable and has triple the milage of the other cars. it just need a few parts replaced and it'll be good for another 100,000. also keep in mind that it was 300 bucks. also it isn't even a chrysler. it is an amc designed vehicle that has an amc engine that is merely owned by chrysler
Those aren't Chryslers. That generation of Jeep was 100% Jeep. Chrysler didn't own them back then. Also with basic maintenance those things refuse to die. He just didn't fix the problem like he should have.
That Jeep needed a clamp. And to cool down. Otherwise, it would have outdone both the Cayenne and the ML. Those XJ's are essentially bulletproof. It's the rust that kills them first.
Just an FYI: you keep saying cheapest cayenne turbo in the States but you're wrong man. I purchased a 2005 in great condition and all that it needed was the brake pump booster to be replaced just the hose. Not a big deal and I purchased it for $5950 with only 58239 miles to be precise. So no sir, you did not buy the cheapest cayenne turbo.
Damn hoovie at first i didn't like your vids but i kept watching and now appreciate all the work you go through to make these, not easy for sure. keep it up bro!
The W163 ML is most suitably the best option for this situation; as it's body on frame. Chrysler's are junk and the Porsche is nothing more than a tall station wagon. Great video though.
Your Cayenne also has a low range transfer case as standard along with the centre locking differential. Rear locker only comes with a off-road pack which included disconnecting sway bar. As standard the Porsche comes with terrain management programmes that ive found comparable to my Grand Cherokee QD2 (i own both btw)
sometimes with the van the rubber brake line can go bad and not let the breaks release when you let go of the pedal. I have known of that happening many times with the mini vans.
Dude you have to get the first gen Acura RDX one of Honda’s first turbocharged car for North America. It is one of the first turbo SUVs and fun in the snow. Also great for modifying too.
The ml is what was used in lost world, the amount of modifications they made show what's needed, I loved mine though I didn't treat it the best. But it stuck through. The Porsche and Mercedes are German engineering so yeah they made it.
Just because a car or any piece of equipment is old doesn't mean it's useless. If it worked back then it still works just as well. If an old car from the 70's gave people a lot of fun then it's going to give anyone today the same amount of fun.
That's not true. Coming from a classic car enthusiast that has owned two 1970s cars (still have one). Parts wear out, 38-47 years of stress on parts cause breakage and deformation. An original (cheaper) classic car is never truly done. It's an on-going process- a hobby. On my 1972 Buick Electra, that I drove home 40 miles the same day I bought it, I've had to do some brake work, new rear shocks, new tires, exhaust work, and just recently the double cardan CV flange yoke cracked and twisted due to 45 years of torque applied to it. The car has about 375 lb-ft of torque.
I don't know about American cars but old British cars are still fun to drive and are just as good as when they where new. If you look after them that is. My car is a 72 MGB GT and it's just as reliable as a modern fiesta or at least nothing on it has broken. Rust is a concern but any car 40+ years old will have rust.
I thought they were going to drive up a ski slope when it's covered in grass during the summer, not drive a gravel/dirt road that lopes back and forth.
I love the 2003-2005 ML's. Comfortable (unlike the Porsche) surefooted, and handles well. plus cupholders! we have a 2005 with 15k miles for our ski vehicle in Park City.
Terrible cup holders that is..lol 😂 Drinks fall out all the time cause they are only like an inch and a half tall so drinks fall right out or spill evwrywhere.
Hoovie buys what I window shop (on autrotrader and cl all the time..) They get more revenue from window shoppers (like myself) looking at ads than from actual car posting (sales)
i took my 1999 camry wagon through worse in the aussie outback and it took everything i threw at it and never gave me trouble except for one buckled rim from a massive rut in a shallow water crossing. those were the days
Not to be cocky, but I genuinely didn't see anything that my 07' FWD Ford Escape w/ mud tires couldn't handle. Maybe try climbing the actual ski slope or a hill with no path next time? Good camera work though.
Your LeBARON would have probably made it up there if you stuck to the trail. I know mine would. I've been through a lot worse. like 4 inches of snow at 70mph. It's a surprisingly solid & sturdy car!
Driving that Mercedes like he stole it! .... wait, too soon?
I was going to say we knew it would make it, It already has off road experience in the woods..still could be too soon..lol
gay
TacoTom Lol ive realized white people love "Too Soon" lol it no racism intended but "Too Soon" makes u guys go crazy lolz 😂😀
IvyLeagueCars gay?
Just A Car Guy Named Tom if
I thought you would go up the actual slope, not follow a service road?
Erik Granqvist do you drive?
For everyone complaining about not seeing the LS Porsche: ENGINE SWAPS AREN'T DONE OVERNIGHT. HAVE SOME PATIENCE.
Bob Kermit Not only that... There's fees and ordered stuff takes time to get to the shop. A swap itself with all the parts can be done in a weekend with 2 people.
BUT IT IS AN LS INTO A PORSHE , IT IS VERY COMPLICATED!
ENRIQUE SUAREZ no its not. If there's a kit like he said it's a easy drop in.
BUT WE NEED IT NOWWWW
I'M STILL WAITING ON THE KIT! I'M YELLING ABOUT IT!
Most likely won't start happening until beginning of July!
congrats, you found the only maintained ski resort work road on the planet that you could safely drive a Ferrari up if you don't mind dirt
hapiman97 most ski resorts use very well maintained access roads up their main peaks. Many of Aspen Snowmass' are even paved.
Sage Wysocki they're used as access roads for workers to access the lodges or radio towers. When it snows in the winter, they are paved over with cats hence the name "cat tracks" that they are so often called.
Blake Wilson bingo!
Garage tour at 100k
Issac 313 well want to see his garbage.
garage*
Fuentes LOL
OH YES
It's exactly at 100k for me right now!
0:05
questionable decisions like; not buying a wind sock for you microphone
WINDSOCK and camera stabilizer rig. Would have been marvelous for the camera man on the back of the jeep. I'll help fund one for you Hoovie!
You probably cold've gotten away with riding your S class up that mountain too, road didn't seem too bad.
If anyone is wondering they are at Breckinridge ski resort in Colorado
There is your advice of the week guys: If you want a reliable off-roader that can climb a mountain, get an ML55 or a Porsche Vayenne instead of a Jeep. You heard it here first!
wanna hear a joke?
wrangler
first name last name not a 300 dollar jeep with hardly any maintenance.
RikiDiki 89 please elaborate
Cosmic ButthoIe he's trying to say the wrangler is a joke. Obviously he's a jeep hater
RikiDiki 89 It's a Cherokee.
The Cayenne does have locking diffs. Push down on the lever next to the air suspension control once to go into low range. Press it again to lock the center diff. And press it a third time to lock the rear diff.
I really should get around to reading the owners manual
Or, turn off traction control/PSM fully (hold button down for 5+ seconds - this depends on the year) and drag the brakes with left foot
Not sure if this is stupidest...I remember a certain 70s land barge costing you quite a bit just to sell back to the guy you bought it from after fixing all the issues....
Moe Sizlac Let's not forget driving the Porsche till the motor locked up. This is pretty mild in comparison

Look up the video here of the 50's Chevy NAPCO climbing Pike's Peak...and not up the road. It is crazy impressive.
Well he's not going to climb a bloody ski mountain what did you expect, anyways the cars are old and they had been broken multiple times so it can just break on them at any moment, imagine if he blows a head gasket whilst climbing a ski mountain, yeah...
3 very cheap cars going up a mountain? I'm getting top gear vibes
Even though a lot of people said that the video wasn't that good because the challenge to get to the top wasn't that hard, I still found it a very very good and entertaining video!

“This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever done.”
Little did he know, he would later LS swap a Porsche.
6:00 why do people wait until the car is smoking before they stop? Temp gauge work?
Temp was still normal, it was not overheating... The hose just popped.
Hoovies Garage My bad. It may have been the high altitude that allowed the water to boil sooner.
It's a pressurized and closed system. Ambient pressure doesn't affect it.
It's not close if there's a leak.
Who wasn't surprised the Chryslers crapped out lol
Pibbles 'n Bits to be fair it is much more capable and has triple the milage of the other cars. it just need a few parts replaced and it'll be good for another 100,000. also keep in mind that it was 300 bucks. also it isn't even a chrysler. it is an amc designed vehicle that has an amc engine that is merely owned by chrysler
Pibbles 'n Bits ID love to see some late 00's Chrysler's out there! they would made it to the first large bump
Actually in that era Mercedes and Chrysler were joint
please, this road is so smooth you could drive a sedan up there.
If you look at both the Cayenne has terribly aged although the ML55 still looks pretty decent.
COME ON MAN.... MY SHITY EURO SUPERMINI CAN EASILY GO UP THOSE ROADS...
Just an FYI: you keep saying cheapest cayenne turbo in the States but you're wrong man. Nice to see the amg on the road/dirt again. Keep up the great vids. You, Doug, and tavarish a very entertaining
4 Hoopdies in the fleet in one video?! I love this. Id love a video where you feature the whole fleet in some sort of single man hoopdie car show.
4:38 "this whole thing is a hold my beer" lol
Wish you’d do more videos like this in the mountains of Colorado!!
Congratulations on 100k Subscribers!
I do love all the quirks and features of a Hoovie video.
Congrats to the best auto channel hitting 100k!
Literally the only channel I subscribe to on youtube, where I watch EVERY video.
That air suspension no joke..will inevitably break
We should all donate to this man so he can get some more vehicles. This show is like meth, it's fun until the money runs out.
I swear, you should just call this video channel Hoopdies! Love it!
You look like a mafia squad with the merc and porsche
[TECHNOLOGIC] an early 2000s mafia
Holy shit, I was wondering if I saw the merc driving around Boulder today!!!
Cmon, even my Volvo wagon could do that
You're really doing it man. Almost 100k. Been with you since 7k. Good stuff don't change when you get to 1m like everyone else does
3 years later a million
Damn hoovie at first i didn't like your vids but i kept watching and now appreciate all the work you go through to make these, not easy for sure. keep it up bro!
Anyone remembers driving the Cayenne turbo in Everything or Nothing?? Those were the good days
hope that air suspension on the Porsche holds up after slamming into that mountain like that
congrats on a 100k you deserve it!
The W163 ML is most suitably the best option for this situation; as it's body on frame. Chrysler's are junk and the Porsche is nothing more than a tall station wagon. Great video though.
Time to invest in a microphone muff
and a new camera lol
Congrats on 100K!
"Can These Old Luxury SUVs Climb a ski Mountain???" 8:05👌
I fucking love that jeep lmao. pretty badass for $300
Just wanted to say: any car with SOME tires would have made it. Apparently not. Nice exhaust note on the Cayenne.
CONGRATS on the 100k! Well deserved, Your channel will definitely continue to grow!
Congrats on 100k !!!
May have been your best vlog yet
that cayenne has been my dream car since i was 8...

Great video, thanks.

"this whole thing is a hold my beer"
Dude, my DRIVEWAY is worse than that road. get off my lawn. lol
Congratz to 100k subs!

Looks like fun, shame the jeep didn't make it, they're very capable vehicles.
Man that is an 55 amg it's a beast
someone needs to give that Porsche a good polish

That solid slush was rough
lol smh 1:17 why did I think the wheel was underwater and the rotors where boiling hot and making bubbles ?
Congrats on 100k subs!
one of ur best episodes so far.....keep up the great content! 🙌
Thanks for saying 'Porsche' the correct way :)
I thought they were going to drive up a ski slope when it's covered in grass during the summer, not drive a gravel/dirt road that lopes back and forth.
Ummm... where's this LS Porsche? ;)
ELITE DEPUTY it isn't a luxury suv
ELITE DEPUTY engines swaps take time do to....
I did mine in over a weekend...
+ELITE DEPUTY Yep.. that's believable...
2 liter saab turbo engine into a vectra gsi, straight fit dont even need to change the ECU no time at all...
Congrats on 100k Tyler, been subbed since 5k
New sub, great post. Your sound is funky, lil loud I guess. Maybe get some sun glasses that fit:)
i love watching trips like these!!
Ayyy close to a 100k subs ! Nice vid as always, keep it up ;)
So much hate for the Jeep. If he fixed it the right way that wouldn't have happened.
Congrats in 100k!!!
Did all that w the windows open , great!
Watch out for that Solid Slush!
You should've tried with the Town Car.
Then he would've died
Got that Jeep Cherokee for $300 ? Fucking steal

RestoStang you don't even need mud tires for this
Congrats on 100k
Boy that is like our Subaru's morning routine😄
OOOOOHHH that guy with the stolen ML AMG
I really had high hopes for the $300 Jeep. Bet it’s an easy fix though 🤷🏻♂️
Your LeBARON would have probably made it up there if you stuck to the trail. I know mine would. I've been through a lot worse. like 4 inches of snow at 70mph. It's a surprisingly solid & sturdy car!
I am feeling top gear vibes with this one...
Fun and interesting episode!
He’s got the makings of an American Jeremy Clarkson
You're the man, Hoovie!
Breckenridge!
SOLID SLUSH!?!? .... lmao...... that jeep overheating brings back so many not so great memories :D
