The crypto market has crashed. Bitcoin is down around 70% from its all time high, Etherium is down closer to 80%, and many cryptocurrency platforms are collapsing. They are laying off their employees, freezing withdrawals of their users' money, and are having to be bailed out. And if you bought bitcoin anytime in the last one and a half years, you are now underwater on your investment.
So let's talk about why crypto is crashing, because what I’ve noticed is that most people people invested in crypto, and most people in general to be honest, don’t read financial news on a regular basis, so they aren’t too aware of how the state of the economy right now is contributing to falling crypto prices. They tend to point the finger at things like the collapse of Terra Luna for why crypto is dropping, but really it is a lot deeper than that. I would say the reasons for the crypto crash fall under three main categories…there’s the macroeconomic factors, you know, things happening to our broader economy, then there's the crypto specific factors, which are all of the bad things that have happened recently to certain coins and companies in the crypto space, and then there's another overarching reason that I want to give my thoughts on, and this is something that a lot of youtubers and financial news journalists tend to forget about when talking about why crypto prices are falling.
And just so you guys know, it might sound like I'm super anti-crypto because I’m going to be talking about the reasons why the crypto market has crashed, but I'm actually pretty neutral on crypto overall. I’m not the kind of person to recommend you invest all that you have into crypto , but I’m also not so skeptical to believe that all crypto is a scam or a waste of money. So I’m really not biased on either side, I’m just simply giving you my thoughts on the crypto crash.

Pretty much my perspective. The only difference is after learning a lot about Bitcoin I don't think there is a technical or economical long term future for it unless it changes drastically, which may as well happen. When you learn about how Bitcoin secures the network and the incentives for mining, I find it hard to see it surviving. If I were to buy into anything it would be ETH, since they are more flexible and have more use case potentials. However, I'm going to avoid FOMO and sit this one out, I'll stick to stocks for the time being =)

What about the fact that cryptos do not have any intrinsic value or use case? Zelle does P2P transfers for no cost instantaneously. Why do you need to remove a central third party unless you’re doing something illegal or trying to evade taxes?

Even if an industry is the future doesn't mean the majority of companies in that industry will survive. Over 400 US car companies were founded in the first few decades of the 1900's, cars WERE the future and only 3 of those companies were in business by 2000.

Great thoughts on inflation and interest rates affecting BTC. I think crypto will come back but may take a year or two just like the stock market. I think now is a good time to buy and BTC and there are too many positives for it to crash and burn completely.

Speculation fueled the rallies that's it. Utility is key. Forget btc. I sold all crypto April 7th would I buy btc again. Hell no just rode the spec wave while it lasted. Btc sub 10k in my opinion. Wake up people. Look for strong adaptable utility that has strong adoption

The Bitcoin spot ETF approval will have a “muted” effect at launch, if it is not delayed. With that said, the real move will happen later in 2024, following a “marketing rampage” 🦍🏢 from institutional players.

No, the crypto crash is like the subprime mortgage crash - no regulation and extreme leverage, creating “stable” coins and CDO’s.
Crypto goes one step beyond the notion of toxic investment and any rational person knows it has zero value. Whatever idea it tried to sell initially is gone, at this point it has become a viper nest full of greed that needs to die. Like other toxic investments it has strong correlation with the money supply, when the Fed increases the money supply it goes up, and when the Fed decreases the money supply it's the first to crash. Every bull cycle brings it's share of greed and toxic investments that get wiped out in the next bear cycle and this is no different.
At this point analysing anything crypto is just rationalizing. The only question worth asking is: will it survive this bear market? The answer is: it does not matter as it will be eventually be wiped out and replaced by the next generation of easy money making schemes.
Massive use of margin followed by the federal reserve’s rug pull on interest rates.

Highly speculative investment is the reason why I stay away from crypto. I would rather put money into a company with a big "moat" or, as my mom would say "gold and real-estate always goes up".
Weird that she trust gold > USD but it's understandable, in some sense...
