Bernie, you are a true American original and have fought for worker’s rights your entire life. You inspire me to do the same. I am boycotting Starbucks after hearing Schultz’s testimony.
I am boycotting them too. Blah blah blah. His pretty words mean nothing. Starbucks must work with unions or go to Hell. Period! I drink coffee often. I won’t ever deal with Starbucks again!
I have always admired the Starbucks' model which Schultz set up to the best of my knowledge with no outside pressures. While I am addicted to coffee, I have never felt I could afford to become addicted to the expense of drinking there. But I wish him and all who work for him well. I am also a union supporter for all that some of their tactics have disappointed me. I love Bernie and would vote again for him for president. This is depressing and has me conflicted. Not meaning to restrict the unions goals, but there are so many places where need for them is far more urgent. Unions may be necessary to continue to improve the superior working conditions . It is a shame that Schultz and the unions cannot work together to maintain and progress on the path he originated. There are so many places union are needed desperately. Our union protections are already weaker than they should be; the PRO act would've strengthened unions but Manchin and Sinema blocked it. So the fact that Starbucks and other companies are still illegally union busting is pathetic, and they need to be held accountable.
There are affluent individuals who not only own union company's,they would have it no other way...I believe it isn't about the affluent,or unions.... it's really about doing the right thing, and in today's world there is so much greed, and lack of any caring for anything or anyone except themselves, and the need to get every dollar they possibly can ,and as quickly as possible no matter who they step on! In general, the Democratic senators demonstrate a keener grasp of the implications of Mr. Schultz's intentions, with which both the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB ) and administration-law judges share equal views. 70% of the Americans do as well. While 70% of anything does not necessarily constitute propriety, it certain sure as to this committee's aims speaks volumes. I particularly give nods to Senator Braun (R), who proves in point that a $17.50-an-hour-basic salary -- minus the "benefits" accorded by a company of Starbuck's supposed rating -- scarcely speaks well about corporations with respect to the lack of concern for well-being of employees in today's economy; Senator Christine Smith (D), in point about the downside of hubris and questionable business ethics; and same about Senator Edward Markey (D) [former U.S. Army reservist]. Finally, of course, I give nods to the chairman himself of the committee, Senator Bernie Sanders (I), who much more often than not proves in point whereof arguing and legislating on behalf of each American resident regardless of her or his political party affiliation.
They don't want zoom because the union busters are the ones that are attending the meeting. This means that people will see the bulling going on during bargaining. Employees want to use zoom so that more than one store can bargain as it is more eficent than one on one and employees feel safe from the bullies not being physically in the room. See RUclips video on union organiser for Starbucks in purple.
The manager is giving a set number of hours that they can't go over. If the district manager says the store has limited hours, the store manager has to cut hours. That's the industry standard. A union will legally review this standard and will bargain for the employee. It's also an understood policy that district managers receive bonuses for the number of hours they save the employer. That means fewer hours for more workers in each store.
Starbucks follow the example of the old Continental Airlines during the 2000-2010 era. It pays to have good relationships with your unions. Another example german unions and companies good relationships.
$17.50 is a good starting wage if you work 40 hours per week. If the worker works fewer hours than 40 hours per week, $17.50 an hour is not a livable wage. This CO knows that Starbucks employment practices are unfair, but those practices are indeed the industries standard. I hope this is the first step to change industry standards. Unions have the ability to address these problems across the board.
but that's the "average wage" starting wage at Starbucks is 13 dollars for barista's on average in California and you know why that is because its the minimum wage In the state, now they will be forced to increase to 15 but that's only because of the state, in other states these people are only getting paid minimum wages aswell as low as like 7 bucks. He claims 17 average for employee's that's like including managers and higher ups which thus he can make that a average when including all those positions in management.
An administrative judge (NRLB) is not under Article 3 of the Constitution. An administrative judge doesn't enforce the law, they enforce regulations. Administrative judges can't find you guilty of breaking the law - they can only enforce regulation. Starbucks has not been accused of breaking the law, they have been accused of breaking NRLB regulations.
I think unions globally should vote on supporting Starbucks staff in US unions. Since this dispute I won't use Starbucks and encourage my friends and family not too. Schultz has to keep blowing his own trumpet because he has no defence for his despicable actions. He is successful but that does not mean he has moral values and is not using his power from success to restrict his employees opportunities to maximise dividends and directors income at their expense. His attitude is clearly greed over employee respect.
Well said. Yes he talks too much. Talk is cheap. His pretty words and self congratulation does not put food in any hungry child’s tummy or in any workers pocket. $17.50 is still starvation wages, I’m sorry to tell him. Could he live on that? 3:00:13 Mr. Byrne: "NLRB is corrupt! They let people vote for the union in other ways besides through the mail! This invalidates the vote!" 3:02:35 In my experience as a factory worker for a corporation, many valid claims of unfair labor practices against corporations are impossible to prove and evidence to corroborate such claims can be and often is hidden or destroyed by the company and thus a case for such valid claims often can not be made in spite of their validity.

Right to work states are created for nothing more than to bust unions, and to put more power, money&greed in the owners hands. And when you can put people to work that do not have the skill that is needed for the job it is putting lives at risk, and those same people who created this law Should be held responsible when this happens!
I feel sorry for Bernie putting up with these people everyday. For us it's about four times a year (when we spend all day researching the ballot to vote.) But then again he gets paid well for his work. Putting up with these hurt/ignorant people puts bread on his table- quite a bit of bread in fact :-).
There are three types of monopoly - Land, Capital, and Labor. Everyone understands the problem with Land monopoly (Kings -high rent costs) and Capital monopoly (Bankers -high interest costs), but people ignore the problem with Labor monopoly (Unions -high labor costs). Labor unions aim to form a monopoly in Labor by decreasing competition. That is why they are able to cause an increase in Union wages - they bar competitive wage earners from competing with union members, increasing the cost of labor for the employer and their customers.
Bravo! Union protect employee right. Go Bernie! Protect the rights for all working class and God bless you all. Keep fighting your constitution right by law.
The government does not have the right to force company to support unions. You can't mandate people to do something against their will.and their best judgment on a company he built from ground up. If Starbucks closes not to support union employees have the choice to find a union job elsewhere. It's usually young kids working at Starbucks as a stepping stone to better jobs.

Dear Cardinal Mahoney
Holy Saturday 2023
Thank you for being a Good Shepard to me for 12 years at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.
I learned studied faithfully learned about the mysteries of the Roman Catholic Church while you and Father Kevin Kostelnick and Father Brian Castaneda, and Father Trudea were Administration the Los Angeles Archdiocese.
Today I am watching the Stations of the Cross and the Easter Vigil from Rome on worldwide internet in my living room.
I sincerely thank you and all of the faithful lay persons, sisters and brothers who helped me and gave me emotional and spiritual support, and strengthened me with your prayers and the sacraments for eleven happy and blessed years.
I am celebrating another blessed Easter and remembering 🙏 all of you in my prayers.
Sincerely,
Me
I'm not here to contradict Bernie Sanders and to defend Schultz, I'm here to contradict Barry Sanders and defend Schultz.
Does he pay the same percentage of taxes as his hourly employees....I would like to know that!

He does not want anyone to tell him what is necessary for the company
His ego is large
Who can afford $6 cups of coffee?😊
I don't know where he lives, but I know there are not any retired people that receive a single retirement check cannot afford to buy a daily cup of Starbucks coffee, and I love two cups of coffee a day...I couldn't pay my keep if I went to Starbucks for my coffee!
Right to work states are created for nothing more than to bust unions, and to put more power, money&greed in the owners hands. And when you can put people to work that do not have the skill that is needed for the job it is putting lives at risk, and those same people who created this law
Should be held responsible when this happens!
I feel sorry for Bernie putting up with these people everyday. For us it's about four times a year (when we spend all day researching the ballot to vote.)
But then again he gets paid well for his work. Putting up with these hurt/ignorant people puts bread on his table- quite a bit of bread in fact :-).
That pinstripe that Cassidy wears really is a caricature of reality.
Love Your Heart Bernie
I have been hazed for two weeks.I here god behind me☆☆.

These men and women should be working out of portable buildings, just like our youth, studying for our future. We are a debtor nation, while spending like drunken sailors
