Sinner is the MVP of the italian team, but today Arnaldi was the man of the match, because he had the hard task to defeat a player ahead of him in the ATP ranking. Without his victory they would have had to play against the Australian double, that is more experienced than italian one.
totally true. facing up against potentially purcell/ebden would have been a difficult task for any doubles team
As italian man i agree with you 100% . If we played double we had i guess 20% of chances to win.
yes, if arnaldi dosn't win this game it would have been doubles and australia can win that aswell.

I don't know. Do you know the australian double? They won wimbledon 2022 and one of them was number 4 in the world in double off course. I'm Sinner fan , he's beast in single , not in double. @@riccardoaquilini6610
I was a ball boy for both Popyrin and arnaldi when they were playing qualifiers at Indian Wells. They both are now hella good.

Sinner ha fatto tantissimo in questa coppa davis giocando solido anche in doppio, facendo il capolavoro in singolare contro Djokovic annullando 3 match point! Questa partita dì Arnaldi dimostra la crescita anche di questo ragazzo! Partita emozionante e vinta con grande cuore e determinazione! Questa partita era l’ago della bilancia perché l’Australia ha un doppio forte! Prossimo anno sarà dura confermarsi ma possiamo riprovarci sperando di avere un Berrettini in più e ritrovare un Musetti più costante!
Se Berrettini e' in forma vinciamo la coppa Davis anche l'anno prossimo. Perche' 2 singolaristi come lui e Sinner sono una grande fortuna. Uno ex numero 6 al mondo e un'altro numero 4 e futuro numero 1 senza dubbio. Su Musetti non faccio affidamento. E' un bel talento ma e' ancora un bambino di testa. Sonego puo' andar bene in doppio( no singolare) e Arnaldi ci dara' grandi soddisfazioni ma ci vuole ancora un po' di tempo che diventa costante.

I love Popyrin but Arnaldi played with heart and spirit. Poppy struggles in big pressure moments, especially when he's serving second.

Hewit should have let Popyrin play against Sinner, I think he's better than Deminaur! Deminaur would certainly have had better luck against Arnaldi.
With this configuration, they'd have a better chance of playing the decisive double!

The majority of fans should be italian. It's historical for us to reach the Davis Cup finals. It means a lot

As an Italian I say that Popyrin played better, starting from the second set, and deserved to win. The good and the bad of tennis however is this, Arnaldi managed to hang on to the match and not get broken and then in the last game he took advantage of a moment of emotion and weakness from his opponent.
If the Aussie had won, seeing as De Minaur had no hope against Sinner, we would have played with doubles, and it would have been a good show, a very strong doubles made by specialists against one made by two singles players who had just won against the world number 1... I honestly can't predict how it would have gone.

Arnaldi shows with his match point what Nole should have done with his third one 30-40: a simple and secure backhand passing shot. Serbia would have won the Davis Cup. Italy is a very beautifull winner
Anyone know why Australia couldn't send De Minaur to play Arnaldi? Sinner was just too strong for any Aussie tennis player. At least De Minaur would've had a better chance to win this match and Australia can play doubles against Italy for the title.
I think because the matches combine is determined by rankings: 1st of a team vs the 1st of other team and so on
