Thank you, very kind words! You are spot on that the programming is our thing, and then it's our users who really bring things to life with what they create :) That's the most exciting part for us! Thanks! Tom
Thank you Tom for the new features walkthrough. Perfect to get a quick overview in a couple of minutes. Keep up the great work. The corona 12 update 1 is once again a awesome update that will boost our creative process.
You are welcome, it was fun to go through everything in the release and I am glad you find it a useful intro! Full deep dives coming up in tutorials of course :) Looking forward to seeing what you come up with using the new features and tools! Tom
It's something we will be looking into for next year (as mentioned in the What's Next section of the blog ;) www.chaos.com/blog/corona-12-update-1 ). Thanks! Tom
This is not an AI enhancer, this is an AI upscaler. Its only purpose is to speed up rendering by 4 times, but reducing the quality (it renders to one half width, one half height - ie one quarter of the pixels so four times faster - and then upscales using the NVIDIA AI Upscaler which has no enhancement). It is only for drafts, as a way of creating quick test animations for example, but not for finals. As for AI Enhancement, like that currently released for Enscape, we'll be looking into that as something we might do next year - you'll see that mentioned in the What's Next on the blog at www.chaos.com/blog/corona-12-update-1 Hope this helps make everything clear :) Thanks! Tom
Thank you! It's taken me around 12 years to gather the collection together :) And it is good to have hobbies and work/life balance. I'd say I sure do have a good life, getting to work on Corona with the whole Chaos team, and getting to interact with the wonderful Corona community too! Tom
I can't say I disagree, I made a lot of use of them when rendering out images and animations for this video (even the ones not about the automatic exposure and white balance specifically, like some of the caustics ones). Enjoy making use of them! Tom
No, no support for Open PBR in this release, sorry. It would definitely have been in the video if there was. The full list of all changes can be seen over on the blog at www.chaos.com/blog/corona-12-update-1 . If you want Open PBR to be considered, do comment or vote on the Ideas Portal where everyone is invited to give their suggestions on what new features they want to see! chaoscorona.ideas.aha.io/ for that. Thanks! Tom
Not all, no - depends mostly on what Vantage has support for. You can find the list of what is compatible at docs.chaos.com/display/LAV/Corona+for+3ds+Max+Features for 3ds Max or docs.chaos.com/display/LAV/Corona+for+Cinema+4D+Features for Cinema 4D. Hope this helps! Tom
Because we have to record these in advance, as early as possible, to fit it all in - otherwise you'd have to wait a week after release for a release video ;) Thanks! Tom
No, as Corona 13's content has not been decided upon yet - we have lots of ideas, but we all need to sit down and turn that into an actual plan (which could only happen after this release is out). Whatever gets put in the final plan, it will be some good stuff, we have lots of ideas for 2025 :) Thanks! Tom
Correct - because during the daily build process, it was named Corona 13 (as those who tried out the daily builds will confirm, and you can see on the daily build threads at forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=43295.0 :) ). The build only got renamed to the final Corona 12 Update 1 for the Release Candidates, and I had to start recording things well before then in order to have everything ready. So in other words, what you are seeing here are older versions of the daily build, now replaced by the newer and more complete final build. Thanks! Tom
Sorry, there will never be a Corona GPU (reasons already given many times, primarily GPU always has some limitations even with today's technology and Corona is focused on the ultimate in realism, plus it would take years of development which would cause the main Corona development to slow down and we are not willing to do that since the CPU version is still very much required and we wouldn't want to have 2 years of no development there). Of course, you DO have GPU now, because you can send the scene to Vantage and end up with the best of both worlds - the full quality, ultimate realism Corona render, and a GPU render for whatever you need that for (projects where realism is less of a concern, quicker drafts and tests, exploring the scene in real-time to find camera angles, etc.), all without having to rebuild the scene entirely separately. Hope this helps! Tom
The Caustic features are just Fire! 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Well done, Corona Team
Thank you for the feedback - we look forward to seeing what everyone creates with this! Tom
I ❤ you guys. You bring life to architecture. Thank you for your excellent programming.

Great work Tom and Corona Team!
TY! The thanks are definitely for the team and all their hard work :) Enjoy the release! Tom
omg, each of these updates from the .cxr save to the volumetric caustics are incredible. Love it! Great work team!
Thank you for the kind words! I look forward to seeing what you all create now with these new abilities at your disposal! Thanks! Tom
@@ChaosCorona Cheers Tom!
Volumetric caustics are just amazing! New possibilities for artistic atmospheric works👍🥳
I had a lot of fun testing these, just the kind of thing that I love :) Looking forward to seeing what all of you can create with this! Tom
@@ChaosCorona It remains to wait for good lessons on how to use it😀
Finally! So many good news! This sparked more hope in me! :D
We're happy to be the bearers of hope! Thank you for the kind words :) Tom

Well done team, Corona Rocks! Hi Tom!
Looks like a great release. Well done, Corona team!
Thank you (from the whole team)!
Im waiting for Ai enchancer like the one from enscape
It's something we will be looking into for next year (as mentioned in the What's Next section of the blog ;) www.chaos.com/blog/corona-12-update-1 ). Thanks! Tom
Is the ai enhancer is the same as enscape? And is it for animations only or does it support still images, great update as usual well done 👏🏻
This is not an AI enhancer, this is an AI upscaler. love tom's guitar collection - hobbies are a great sign of a good life

Merci pour cet udpate
You are welcome! Tom
Automatic Exposure and White Balance, finally.
I can't say I disagree, I made a lot of use of them when rendering out images and animations for this video (even the ones not about the automatic exposure and white balance specifically, like some of the caustics ones). Enjoy making use of them! Tom
Does Corona this update support `Open PBR' which has just been added to 3dsMax 2025.3 ?
No, no support for Open PBR in this release, sorry. It would definitely have been in the video if there was. Can all Corona maps be used with Vantage live link?
Not all, no - depends mostly on what Vantage has support for. You can find the list of what is compatible at docs.chaos.com/display/LAV/Corona+for+3ds+Max+Features for 3ds Max or docs.chaos.com/display/LAV/Corona+for+Cinema+4D+Features for Cinema 4D. Hope this helps! Tom
Great! 👍
amazing!
Thank you! Hoping we get to see some cool creations, maybe stuff with volume caustics lol. Tom
Thanks to the team. But There is no update on render speed and ram management , developers should focus on these also
Thank you for the feedback! We'll be looking into settling on our plans for 2025 soon, so it is good to hear what people are hoping for. Tom
Nice!
Thank you! Tom
Thanks Toms
You are most welcome, glad you enjoyed the video :) Tom
With that controller 🕹️, I wonder if Mr. Grimes has bought the new Playstation 5 pro? Or is it PC gamer Master Race? 🤔🤔
I hope Corona has VFB feature like Vray with cryptomate mask.
Why its showing daily build on your pc?
Because we have to record these in advance, as early as possible, to fit it all in - otherwise you'd have to wait a week after release for a release video ;) Thanks! Tom
Thats crazy Vantage is $1000 how is live link a corona update ? Thats way to expensive !
Do you show news from corona 13 ?
No, as Corona 13's content has not been decided upon yet - we have lots of ideas, but we all need to sit down and turn that into an actual plan (which could only happen after this release is out). Whatever gets put in the final plan, it will be some good stuff, we have lots of ideas for 2025 :) Thanks! Tom
@@ChaosCorona at 52 seconds you have corona13 daily build

I hope for GPU render
