Im 67 and warm up every time before I shoot, done it for years. The biggest problem I see is people shooting to much weight. You Duddly Bill W Cameron H (95lbs) is pushing people to shoot way more poundage than they should. 80% of people are not in shape to shoot those weights. No matter how much you warm up that high poundage will eventually get to your shoulders. I shoot 54lbs and over 11,000 arrows a year and my shoulders are fine. Just my two cents on the subject. As always a great video. 🏹🏹🦌🦃👍

I agree. Poundage doesn’t kill things, shot placement does.

They like selling these big poundages. When a 55 pound compound with a good cut in n contact will kill everything in N.America

Yup I have the bear whitetail legend. Turnt it right down about 57 pounds peak weight. I have a collar bone sticking out my right shoulder and my left shoulder is.torn. I can hold it for about 2 minutes.

How do you warm up in a hunting situation

    • @ML-ks2lj

@@6saturdaysaweek i shoot before I go hunt. If I'm lucky my wife gives me a massage before hand to wakeup the blood vessels. For me the pain is always going to be there no matter what. Docs say I need surgery on both shoulders. I can still use them so surgery can wait. I wasn't same after my injury I definitely won't be he same after surgerys. So stretching and massages and then practice shots.

Guilty of not warming up, I'll stretch from time to time before I do shoot. At 37 now, I'm going to start actively warming my muscles before I start shooting. Thanks Dan for making this happen sir.

Just what I needed. At 46 and destroying my body riding motocross I need all help I can get. Both my arms have a lot of extra parts I wasn’t born with. My left shoulder no matter draw weight light or heavy I get some pinching sensation until I get to full draw. My right wrist doesn’t bother me too bad, but if I use a wrist strap release I can’t get to a comfortable position to make a good anchor point. Using a handheld release I’m good to go.

Oh man this is the video series I needed! Recovering from compressed discs and pinched nerves in my neck that rendered me unable to pull back even 25 lbs. A year and a half later and I’m back up to 66 lbs. Thanks for the content. I really appreciate your intensity and your passion really shines through my dawg.

Thanks, Dan. I am getting ready to have my third rotator cuff surgery as I have a complete tear to both the infraspinatus and supraspinatus due to an accident. I am fifty two years old and will not bow down to a crossbow. Hopefully, by next fall. I will be able to put this information in to place. Currently, I am still shooting, but we'll go under the knife in early March. 0:24

I am a 57 year old female, and suffered a bad left shoulder injury many years ago. Shoulder is not 100%, but close. Started shooting a bow in 2019, and because of this injury, I warm up RELIGIOUSLY! Am up to 51 -52 lbs on draw weight, and have been hitting a wall. Haven't been able to increase (would like to increase draw weight a little more), and have been suffering some strains and pain. I will be watching this series for any tips!

Shot 71 pounds ,after hurting my shoulder went to 50 pounds and the last 8 deer I shot through the heart. My point is you won’t believe how accurate you can shoot at low poundage. I set up my stands for 20 to 30 yard shots ,for white tail. Been bow hunting 40 + years ,at 60 years of age.

Great advice for everyone. I am a lefty and had my left rotator cuff repaired in 2016. My right one has been torn for 2 years and needs repaired. Trying to hold a bow and stabilize it is near impossible anymore. Needless to say my groups suck! You are never to young or old to take care of your shoulders!

Thanks for the video boys. Tore my bicep tendon and messed up my rotator cuff 3 years ago. Did full rehab and now do rubber band exercises every morning when I get up so I can keep shooting my bow. I’m adding both these exercises to my morning routine. Shooting 60lbs now and want to get up to 65lbs plus for next season. Keep up the good work fellas.

Im new to bow hunting this lasy year. Can u make a video about all the specs u two are talking about about the bows, like weight of arrows, draw weigh and let off. How does that all play into hunting/ shooting. Whats the difference between a bow set up for hunting and a bow set up for tac events.

Dan, Why don't people use the crossover symmetry system for archery? I had shoulder issues for years with any barbell movement overhead. I bought the Crossover Symmetry system and committed to it for about 6 months and it totally changed my shoulder health, Bulletproofed shoulders. Now its just routine maintenance. I mean I see it hanging on the rig right there.

Having a totally detached right rotor cuff, and detached Supraspenatus ( 1 of 2 upper bicep tendons ). Both issues happened at different times. I am still able to draw my bow at 60lbs without much pain as long as I draw properly rotating my elbow up and over to full draw. Is there any exercises I can do to strengthen the surrounding muscles to help out?

This is exactly what I needed. I hurt my shoulder a month ago. I’ve been shooting around 54 lbs (new to compound) and I got some work done on my bow and when I picked it up at that shop they set it to 70lbs and didn’t tell me. Felt like my shoulder almost ripped out of the socket
