thank you for this video, and thank you for answering my question!! i also love that you mentioned sticking to 1-2 resources especially in the beginning so it’s not too overwhelming and distracting… unfortunately i’ve had a bad habit of buying textbooks recently, but i now understand how important it is to prioritize only one or a few textbooks~
i’m also so excited for the video of you speaking only in korean soon! i think videos like that are so so fun and motivating to watch 😊 i can’t want to see more content from you nonetheless~

      Thank you for watching!
I had a bad habit of buying textbooks too at one point. Especially once I got to Korea and they became easier to purchase. I ended up buying too many that it got overwhelming and I wasn't progressing because I didn't know what resource to stick to. So once I started just using one textbook I felt better. If I find something extra that I want to learn, I just use an online resource to check it and learn it that way. It doesn't ~need~ to come from a textbook ^^
And thank you! That video should be up later in the week. It's probably going to be a little short because it started raining and we just stayed inside. So I only filmed a little bit lol.

Thank you so much for this video. You had mentioned its smart to get corrections on your journal entries to ensure you aren't making any bad habits for yourself, how did you seek out these corrections? Did you have a native speaker helping you out or would you just go through past grammar notes and compare?

I'd love to start a journal but I'll probably wait until I can afford a tutor to correct whatever tf I write 😂

You don't need to pay a tutor! If it's not a super personal journal (or you can use an anonymous account and block personal details) you could upload it to hellotalk moment's tab, or use another source. I think there is a writing correction site that I can't remember. I will DM you on insta when I find it!

I'm really curious about a thing, but if you have to suggest only one book for beginners which is either KGIU or vitamin book, what would it be?

    • @KoreanWithKat

That's a hard question, and I kind of explain it in another one of my videos (check out my "rating my grammar resources vid~)! However, I will recap it here :)
I think KGIU is an amazing book, but I don't recommend it as your ~main~ grammar resource. The explanations are very cut and dry and should just be used as a reference or review textbook. It only has 1 page of explanation and then just 4-5 practice exercises.
On the other hand, Vitamin Korean is great for a ~main~ grammar book. It has grammar explanations, and lots of practice activities to use that grammar (listening, reading, writing, etc). However, the grammar explanations can be a little lacking sometimes and you may need another resource.
Therefore, I highly suggest using them together. Vitamin Korean is great as your main source, go through the entire chapter and do all the exercises. Then, when it's time to review some grammar, KGIU is a great help as it's enough to count as a "refresher" for that grammar. If you don't want to buy two books, then I suggest using Vitamin as your main source and then finding some online grammar explanations to strengthen the lack of grammar material in the books. That's exactly how I study with them :)
I hope this was helpful! Like I said, you can check out my Grammar Textbook review and see my more detailed response.
