- Pet Food Update: We still believe there is a concerning issue and have over 1400 consumer report surveys plus screenshots of similar symptoms being reported on 3rd party platforms. Symptoms can include diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, vomiting or bloody vomiting, food refusal, lethargy, seizures, itching/hives/rash. Typically corresponds to opening a new bag, box or can of food. Multiple brands have been reported, at this time we are only comfortable feeding Human Grade (vs. Feed Grade) ingredients.
We hypothesize we are dealing with a pesticide contamination, however, we do not have lab verification of a specific contaminant at this time. It is a complex issue, and we will not be doing testing until further guidance or information is available on what should be tested for. Necropsies must be done in a specific manner, veterinarians can contact consult@drjudymorgan.com for additional information.
If you see something, please report it! Pet food being dumped, thrown away, or discarded in large quantities, groups of wildlife found dead, massive sales, or empty shelves.. if you see something, say something.
If you believe ANY BRAND of pet food is causing or has caused illness or death:
Stop the food immediately.

Contact your veterinarian. Request a copy of your pet's medical records. Report your concerns to the pet food company and ask your vet to do the same. Veterinarians can also email consult@drjudymorgan.com.

@@DrJudyMorganmy dog died Tuesday. He had every symptom listed. He had the symptoms for 4 days then i took him to the vet they did bloodwork xrays and gave him a bag of fluid and said everything came back normal. The vet gave us antibiotics anyways just in case, and sent us home. One hour after being home he started throwing up/ coughing up flem. He started breathing heavily. I rushed him to emergency vet where they found he had pneumonia but could not find what was causing the pneumonia. They sent his xray to the radiologist to double check for an obstruction maybe they could see something the vet didn’t see. Kobe didnt eat for 5 days they couldn’t get his blood glucose up they put him on the highest dose of the medicine you could give for that, then they tried plasma. It just didn’t work. My baby is gone and I’m so broken. This wasn’t supposed to happen. Ive been complaining about the food for a couple of months because the color has changed so dramatically. They stopped wanting to eat it so we decided to try a different flavor we opened the bag the night he got sick. I made them chicken to go with it and mixed it in the food.My boy dog ate some of the dog food with the chicken. My girl only ate the chicken and pushed the dog food out of her way. The one that ate it died the other didn’t.

we ( regular folk ) are also to blame . We BUY toxic food with scary additives ( for our pets and ourselves)… and we are all fat and unhealthy… because we don’t cook from basic foods anymore… and sooo much drive thru food

Sad, but these companies only care about money
Bag & Can pet food is poison it's full of SUGAR and Bad CARBS. Feed your dog lean meat. This is how they eat in the wild. Lean meat will keep them healthy with a longer healty life span and will keep them away from the vets.

I can't find information on a recall for pesticides there was recently a big recall for Salmonella in Quaker oats products. It does look like there might be a lawsuit about pesticide in oats but I didn't find a recent recall.

The FDA is a federal agency which is to say they are as crooked as they come. You will not get the truth from any federal agency if you haven't noticed. If you love your animal's as I do spend the time and make the food your self. You will have healthier pet's and lessen the grief that's sure to happen if they continue to eat store bought food.

Thank you for your tireless work on this Dr. Judy. You're saving so many lives and so much heartache. Think of how many children are permanently traumatized by watching their pets suffer and die. It's really hard to imagine how anyone who has any knowledge of or control over this can sleep at night.
Dr Judy I am completely behind you on your quest to help us all save and protect our pets. I have worked at a big box pet store and I know at my store any pet food in the dumpster was either returned or expired or too close to expiration. And if someone said their animal became sick or suddenly refused their food I send them to your website. Thank you for all you do for us ❤

Recently it was reported that the US now allows oats to be treated by a pesticide which formerly was not allowed.
Google quaker oats glyophosate. It wasn't recent. They were spraying everything years ago

Grow your own food. Amish farmers are huge into the puppy mill industry and I wouldn't give a dime to anyone that puts dogs thru that level of suffering. I've seen how they treat their dogs, shut in dark barns never seeing sunlight. In wire cages starving to death. A rescue here just secured a mom dog from them several weeks ago after they threatened to kill her because she couldn't have any more litters and no one would buy her. Disgusting!

The more I hear about this the more I'm glad I took my fur baby OFF all commercial dog food and feed him whole, and real, 'people food' !! He's really enjoying it. :)
Please make sure it's a species appropriate diet and that it is balanced. Remember cats are obligate carnivores.
@@janegreen191 Oh, I am. Following Dr. Judy's guidelines. By 'people food' I mean any AND all meat and veggies he gets is human grade, fresh from the store, not from 'questionable sources' or 'clearance sales', etc..

It took me a week to get my vet to send my dog's scan images and exam notes. Even thought I was told by my vet our dog had a GI infection the exam note did not mention a GI Infection. Purina denied my claim so I am stuck with a $1200 Vet bill and out $60 for a 60lb bag of food. I will NEVER use Purina products again or this Vet!
Don't forget most vet schools and therefore what they learn, is supported by the pet food industry

Bless your heart Dr. Judy. I am heartsick over this. I thank you a million times over as well as Saving Pets on FB. I was feeding Purina Lamb and Rice as well as chicken and rice. I stopped immediately upon hearing about this issue. Started a bag of Fromm. It was added to the DO NOT FEED list. Stopped that. Switched to Spot and Tango and soon Sundays will be transitioned in. All this to say my dog’s life and health were spared illness and death THANKs to YOU and SAVING PETS!!! All the caring and effort is not in vain. I just wish all the pets that we have lost didn’t suffer as much as I fear they did. I also pray that the Big Pet Food isn’t bribing the FDA to not divulge the truth. Or even not look for it. I don’t know how the powers that be can sleep at night. Certainly they have fur babies. Anyway thank you for helping me still have my Rolo with me and healthy. ❤💕

When was Fromm’s dog food added to the list. I feed Fromm large breed puppy chow.
My dog is 12 yrs old. She had all the issues Dr. Judy mentioned, plus what looked like dementia, panting in pre-dawn hrs., followed by an inability to hold her urine until she could get outside. Shortly before I saw a recall list from Purina, which my dogs food was not included on, I changed her food to home-cooked, then Spot & Tango for when she went to the kennel. I also tried a sample of Sundays, which she was eager to eat too.
I suspended Spot & Tango for a few months in hopes of finding another commercially prepared food as backup because we all know how new companies sometimes suddenly go out of business.
After feeding her 2 consecutive dinners using only Sundays, the staring at nothing, pre-dawn panting, and an inability to hold her urine till she got outside returned. Although the symptoms were not as severe as when she was eating Purina, I couldn't deny what was happening. A 2 wk. supply of that food for my dog weight cost over $50, even with the 1st order discount. I immediately emailed the company about my concerns, and they quickly responded and immediately issued a refund.
I don't know specifically what is causing the problems my dog has had with commercial food because according to her vet, she's remarkably healthy for her age.
Hopefully, Sundays will be a suitable alternative for your needs, but so far, Spot and Tango seems to be the only commercially prepared food that is safe for my dog to eat. It will probably be my on;y go to commercial food because I can't tolerate the idea of using my dogs body as a lab!
2023 lost 2 out of 4 pets. 2 dogs, eating the same foods, one gets VERY sick and dies. 2 cats eating the same foods, one gets sick slowly over time, and dies. The dog was 5 yo, the cat was 7. Never got an answer as to what was making them sick in the 1st place. Food? Cancer? There was liver failure, pneumonia, extreme weight loss, and ascites. No answers, just deep sadness, frustration, and dead pets. 2 in one year!!!!

I was feeding my dogs & cat Acana for years, I am very grateful, I had no issues. When this story broke, I quit feeding them Acana, found your recipe for home cooked meals, that's all they get now and they love it. Thank you.

The FDA admitted that it cannot regulate baby lotion so why would they regulate pet food. There is a video where a representative admits even if a problem is relayed they do not have authority or will not issue recall, could be both or one or the other. Its 😮shocking.

@natasham943 yes there is issues with acana and orijen too. champion petfoods (the one who made acana and orijen) got bought by Mars (a candy company who makes pet food🤡💀) and they changed the ingredients to cheaper ones...google what pet foods are owned by Mars, Colgate-Palmolive and Nestle. Are you able to switch to homemade/raw food? it's best. dr judy morgan has videos on how to make your own food for your pets
It will only stop, when people stop buying it. Til then it will just continue. Nothing can be done about it. It's a profitable business.

I adopted 2 dogs at different times...both were on medication already because they were not well...yet NEVER was food addressed by vets . As soon as I switched to better quality ( also alternating two days freeze dry , two days raw , one day high quality kibble , evenings vegetarian ). all became supper healthy , no ore meds needed.

They probably know how hard it is to identify chemicals etc in the food and that’s why they aren’t very worried about getting caught.

Dr. JUDY, if you can find a Mass spectrometer (like at the certified lab the Health Ranger has) you will learn EVERY individual thing thats hidden in that food.
No guessing what to test for, it shows the chemical makeup of EVERY thing in the sample.

I’m so sorry! Did your pet make it? 😢may I ask what brand? I have my cat royal canon and she got very sick. I stopped right away because it was so dramatic how sick she had gotten after some the RX dry. I don’t trust them - WEF is now saying pets contribute to climate change. They’re after them
@@elizabethhethera505 I’ve had 7 different clients get sick. Two were in my care, and it was Hill’s “Prescription” Weight Loss. Both recovered but are on liver supplements. Sadly the littermate of one of the dogs passed away from liver toxicity a week prior to their arrival at my house.

This is heartbreaking and disgusting 😡 Especially the efforts of these companies to cover it up and the FDA in doing nothing until after thousands of pets are affected (in this instance nothing at all). I'm so grateful for this info and feel blessed I was already transitioning my boy to home cooked + dehydrated safe brands.

just to point out something i recall monsanto doing. there is a type of pesticide that causes bleeding internal in bugs so the bred corn to do it when bugs eat it. seems like its similar thing going on with pets.
This has been going on with humans too. BT is one that causes leaky gut.

There is a lab at Utah State University. Utah State is an agricultural school. They have offices in Logan, Utah and Provo, Utah. I had a necropsy done there a couple of years ago. Might be someplace to contact.

I just lost my oldest dog at the age of almost 14. She was eating purina there towards the end. I was having to doctor up her food. She would NOT touch it! She suddenly became extremely ill over this past Thanksgiving. Her gums were pale, and she became extremely weak and lethargic. I took her into the vet, and her bloodwork was through the roof. Her liver enzymes were astronomical, and she had hemolytic anemia. They wanted to do a blood transfusion, but it was too late. This girl had a senior panel done every single year, and everything came back perfect. It was just out of nowhere. I decided to put her to sleep, and it was the most difficult decision I've ever had to make. I have no idea if this was related to the Purina, but it certainly is a coincidence! I lost my soul dog, and it is something that I will never get over. Since finding this channel, I have completely changed the way I feed my other dog's!
So sorry. If needed go to a USDA butcher and get free meat scraps, usually free.
Very sorry your soul pup is gone. I too lost my soul dog on 12/23 and still cry for him daily...i do have 2 dogs left that I love of course. But his loss at 15.5 was horrific. He had mormsl senior panel and 7 months later, did another panel that showed he was in late stage kidney failure. Luckily, i cook for my pups and used Nutro kibble only as a supplement to the chicken and veggies i cook.

I am grateful for you, Dr. Judy. Luckily my canine baby didn’t get sick from her Stella and Chewy’s food and treats. I have now switched to one of the brands you suggested on your website. Regarding animals you are experiencing blood coming out of both ends, many in my neighborhood suffer from this issue as I did two months ago with my dog. I live in an HOA community in Florida where everyone has commercial companies spraying every inch of their yards with toxic chemicals. Of course I don’t allow my dog on those lawns for days after they’re sprayed, but it’s in the air and if it rains, it’s unavoidable. I ended up soaking my dog for 10 minutes in an epsom salt bath, and immediately bought the detox tincture from your site and gave it for the 30 consecutive days as the label indicates. If it wasn’t for your videos, books, and website… I probably would have gone to the Emergency vet and not had as good of results.

I got concerned enough when you started saying this many weeks ago to get my dog completely off of commercial kibble. I started a fresh delivery service from a limited ingredient, wholistic ingredient dog food company. I supplement it since it is so expensive, with home made. I kid you not: my dogs look like they never have before. I rescue retired show dogs, so now, imagine those pristine animals with coats, skin, and eyes that are shiny and bright. It’s amazing. The dogs are 9 and 10 years old and are acting as if they are many years younger. I am so grateful. I want every minute I can with them so here’s hoping.

Because of you I went back to feeding my cats human meat. And not just any meat, grass fed beef, venison, egg yolks from pasture raised organically fed chickens. Surprising thing is gram for gram they eat way less meat compare to kibble. So my cats get pork chops, chicken, egg yolks, chicken livers, sardines, tuna, lamb, grass fed mince and steak. Omega 3 capsules. Some of it raw some of it cooked. I eat a high protein diet myself. So whenever I cook, I just cook a piece or prepare a piece separate from mine on which I don't put spices or extra fats (raw, steam or grill). I was spending a fortune on so called high quality pet food. No more. Even if its costs me slightly more for quality food so be it. I used to feed them raw but then I got lazy. Thank you

Look into the glyphosate problem. It is in every food now. All commercially produced animals fed with grains that are sprayed. It's in animal food, but the same goes for a large amount of store-bought human food. Test for glyphosate!

I have recently started a deeper dive into Big Kibble which was initiated bc in early Feb 2024 I switched to stella & chewy's, after our vet said grain-free (previously feeding him acana) was linked to DCM. (also recently learned about the ketonaturals v hills lawsuit in the works which claims this link is false...classic Big Kibble). After the switch, my dog got diarrhea which wasn't abnormal since he has a sensitive tummy so we kept it up, then the cough and puking started (maybe 3-4 weeks after starting S&C's). We went to the vet and they barely asked about what food I was feeding then suggested Purina and antibiotics. The vomiting went away for a while but is back and in light of getting into all this research I am definitely moving away from S&C's and most likely kibble in general. I'm grateful for folks like you reporting on these super scary issues and helping the pet parent community get actual information.

It's possible that this is an aflatoxin issue. Needless to say, grain is garbage and shouldn't even be in pet food in the first place.
Warfarin was used as rodent killer. It was 'outlawed' for domestic used but could still be used commercially.

My girl Valey was throwing up brown with blood. The only thing we can conclude is the Wild Weenie treats from Stella and Chewys as well as the toppers from Stella and Chewys. We stopped these and we haven’t had any issues since. Both were beef.

I have cats but the brands that are seemingly involved - my little guys eat too, one of them is a CKD, immune compromised 10+ year old little girl, who was stable for years now suddenly anemic and constantly riddled with URI, sneezing up a lot and coughing. Y'all may guessed right, she's on a special diet (Hill's multi 'benefit') Coincidence, perhaps.
** A separate note on the massive dumped pet food; I am following numerous bald eagle nest cams here on YT. There were a number of mysterious deaths on camera in more than one nests, where either adults, or in one case a juvenile eagles just suddenly became unwell and over the course of just a few days, developed serious symptoms (imbalance, inappetence, throwing up something liquid type stomach content - note: eagles don't vomit per se, they cast indigestible materials like fur or feathers, as a pellet similar to owls') In one case, the juvenile eaglet had a constant bleeding on his/her foot still on the nest; hard to be 100 certain but seemingly no fishing hook or other object on the nest that could have caused the bleeding. My point is, perhaps these unfortunate eagles came to consume some of these discarded (probably pesticide contaminated) bulk pet foods on the dump sites. Sadly bald eagles are known to visit these sites in search of food and we also saw on multiple nests that they bring back these for their young.
While right now all we all have is speculation, some of the pieces of the puzzle definitely narrows the culprit to pesticides. These quietly discarded foods should have been sent to industrial furnaces, not to dump sites😡
Expecting no truth coming out, no honestly, no open communication. Also not expecting the FDA being there to be pet owners' shield of protection; no eof these federal agencies have real firepower anymore to stand up to these behemoth market players. I won’t have anymore pets if my dogs pass away from food poisoning I’m fighting the symptoms of hemorrhagic caused by food poisoning I have been going though this over the last three years changing dog food trying supposedly good foods to find out they all at some point ate making my fur babies sick! I feed fresh pet but my 13 year old is barely eating anything I give her meat like chicken or beef but she takes a few pieces and stops eating I know she is dying anyway from cancer so I am not too sure it’s the 4 health except my other dog got the same thing I took the 4 health away and my 10 y/o is doing better now but my 13 y/o is dying and it may be the cancer! The fact that Purina And all these manufacturers are willing to kill our pets let’s you know how corrupt our government is for covering it up! Thanks for your information I am hoping the fresh pet is the best for my dog because food has become so expensive and I know it’s to take our pets from us so many are being abandoned because people can’t afford to feed them! It’s very disheartening
There is a lot of money in pet food. Before the 1960s in Europe, dogs were fed whatever the family ate. avoiding what they did not tolerate and they did well.
Bless your heart Judy, my dog is my precious girl...No commercial kibble for my dog, I cook her food, raw freeze dried for treats.....I find it cheaper anyway I cook her ground pork and add carrot, sometimes peas, fish oils and slippery elm

I remember years ago when I had cats there were a few bags of brand new cat food (from the vet) that my cat simply refused to touch!! Wouldn't eat it at all.. All the bags he refused were from the same lot #. It was the Hills C/D. Returned those bags and did an exchange. The vet had no idea what was wrong with those bags. But he ate from a different lot #. Years later I put him on more natural canned foods. Those expensive canned cat foods. He lived to be 19 years old. But its clear there was something wrong with those bags + luckily he was a very smart cat!

As a veterinary professional this makes me so sad and sick. To some degree I feel quite helpless. People ask me all the time what I feed my own dogs, my response is I don’t feed them dog food. This is usually responded to with various comments like, “good for you, I don’t have time,” or “don’t they need crunchy things for dental health,” or “how do you know they’re getting everything they need,” or “isn’t that expensive.” I want to respond with, “sure it’s takes up my time, but you seem to have time to sit in the ER with a pet who has vomiting and diarrhea, you seem to have money to pay for expensive diagnostics and hospitalization at an ER, and no kibble does nothing for dental health.” Among other choice commentary that I literally have to refrain from or probably lose my job.

It's been awhile since I've seen much on the mysterious respiratory disease that recently swept the states, but the last I recall seeing about it was a claim it may be originating from the GI tract. Is there a possible correlation of that situation and contaminated food? We all know our immune systems are driven and fortified from our gut. If the gut is compromised by contaminated food could it have given rise to the mystery respiratory illness? If so that really doesn't help us with the hemmoragic and death issues, but I can't believe it's all a coincidence.
Fed my dog Purina One for 4-5 years. In the course of 3 months got two contaminated bags. One of the bags had legit FLYING bugs inside along with hundreds of eggs. The other bag just had the white spots all over it, not actual bugs. I got my first contaminated bag in mid-November and took my dog off the food completely in March. "COINCIDENTALLY" my dog had pneumonia that he could not recover from November-March
Had to switch from stella and chewys due to the 1st time my dog started rejecting food in his life being from that brand.. Asked the poudre pet and feed near me and they were well aware of the issue and were happy to guide me to human grade brands that other pet parents have switched to due to the same concern. they were pretty educated on the corruption within the system and we discussed how disgraceful it is that the companies are for the most part trying to hide this.

Thank you for staying on top of this. I worry about pesticides and try my best to get proteins that are pasture raised/ finished or organic. I have to order online or drive a ways to get what I need. I won't eat anything that contains nonorganic corn because pesticides are used to kill weeds in the fields, so I look for the same for my dog. However, I suspect this issue may be coming from meat by products, which could contain who knows what. It would be interesting to see if these affected pet food companies use the same suppliers or are processed in the same facilities. Can FOIA requests obtain that type of info?
I am so grateful I already switched from Purina, which is what my foster dog was fed at the humane society, to other kibbles. He wouldn't eat the Purina without it being coated in canned food made into gravy. Never licked the bowl and there was always some left. First switch was to Loyal Life Salmon, mostly chosen because he has dandruff and itching. He ate it without issues. However, he still had dandruff and itching, so, then I switched him to Open Farm Salmon (no meat byproducts, limited ingredients). They are not processed in the facilities that mass produce kibble for many companies... that was huge in my decision because this was around the beginning of becoming aware of the pet food issues.
He's been getting one meal of Dr Judy's recipe for pup loaf in the morning (he devours it), and Open Farm kibble in the afternoon with goat milk, rasberries, and blueberries as toppings. Not a morsel wasted at either meal! His fur is so shiny and soft, but he still has dandruff. I may go to feeding him just pup loaf and no kibble to see if that helps until I can afford allergy testing.

My sister had similar dandruff + itch and skin allergy problems with her rescue bulldog; she switched her laundry detergent for her best friend to a neutral, naturally derived one and used only sensitive also neutral shampoo when needed. Her bff improved massively 💚
Try adding a good quality coconut oil to food for dry itchy skin. Can also rub into skin occasionally but not so often that it doesn't get to breathe

I’ve been feeding my 3 GSDs the same brand of kibble their whole lives and they’re all healthy, with shiny coats and normal feces.
However, given reports like those mentioned on this channel, I’ve begun adding fresh eggs from my own hens and carrots or green beans, psyllium and occasionally food grade DE (for routine, drug free deworming)
They continue to do well, thank God. My heart goes out to those with sick pets.
Currently feeding my dog 50/50 blend of Stella and Chewys Raw blend kibble and Open Farm lightly cooked. When the Stella's is completely gone, we are switching to Small Batch Pets Raw Pattys
My dog was very sick with Stella’s topper. After 24 hours at the vet and IV treatment he is at home still very lethargic and anemia. I am monitoring him very closely and hoping he can recover from this. Stop the Stella’s, they are on the list!

This happened a few years back with the Chinese food and the pet companies denied and denied until they were caught. I cook for my dog and add a dehydrated human grade food. (Badlands)... Don't feed your animals commercial kibble. Buy meat on sale and make your own. We need to change the laws concerning the manufacturing of animal food. These companies need prosecuted! 😢
I have been wondering for quite a while now... along with our food, dog food, treats etc... are they also, contaminating the air? the water? I believe they are. when I have gone to the groomer, vet etc. and when I see dogs in my neighborhood, community, they seem to have things coming out of their eyes..... I also have seen this hair that seems to come out of the eyes, also in the poop.. parasites?? ??Giardia, Water bourne parasite? are they putting parasites in our water? food? dog food? etc. ? I have talked to my husband about this. & i see animals that do not come in contact with the other animal, yet i see the same things.. This may be a shot in the dark, and forgive me if I'm way off base, but I've seen a lot of pet parents talk about low platelet levels during this hemorrhagic illness. Vitamin B12 levels affect that, along with a few other causes that appear to have been eliminated as causes already(cancer, viral infection, genetic disorders).
Are there any pesticides or chemicals that are known to inhibit B12 absorbtion or block B12 activity completey? Are the vets even checking B12 levels on these sick pets? That may not be related since B12 depletion probably does not act on the body as quickly as this foodborne illness does. Just trying to think of anything that might help.
A vitamin B12 deficency isn't going to show up in a few days, more like months.
