This is a beautiful story, I rescue Pitties and I rescued one at age of 4. He had been on a kibble diet prior to his rescue and I have been doing the whole food diet , fresh veggies and clean meats. He is crusty, redness, itchy and it breaks my heart. He is the one Pittie I cannot seem to help. I will never give up on him and this story gives me hope that my boy will be healed one day

I'll be damned if I would give up my dog for a guy!!! If my dog doesn't like him, he's gone! I can't belive she even dated, let alone married, someone who didn't like her dog! That's just inconceivable!😢

Yes, yes! That's what I was thinking. And it could not have been a good relationship for her obviously she wasn't seeing that. If they don't click with your dog, then they don't click with who you really are. I have pity for her but more pity for her poor misunderstood dog!
The also reminds me of a story when I was a young woman dating. A man came over to my parents house for dinner. He made a snide comment about my dog while we were in the backyard on the patio. I threw him out! He kept standing there in disbelief like, "you can't mean that!" I pointed my finger toward the driveway and demanded that he leave now! My parents joked about that for years! 😂

I have 2 rehome pups. I couldn’t imagine my life without them. I have 1 with allergies and I started following you and I switched their food to gently cooked and raw it’s helped so much. He still gets very dry skin in winter. My other rehome didn’t know anything at the age of 4. I’m teaching her everything. Still not 100% potty trained. Thanks for your story

Myra's story is my Nana's story, only worse.
The struggle and fear is very real. It's been a roller coaster ride to say the least 😢 we moved from a cold climate to a rain forest which completely played havoc with her skin and that's where she encountered fleas. Everything I tried to get rid of them, just made it worse with her health and skin. So darn allergic.
The dog food I had to change to a partial raw, however, couldn't afford to put her on a full raw dog food. But with a very high protein dog food and the raw that I could afford, and the vet, I was able to bring her health back to a full coat again and no more sores and raw leathered skin.
Fall is back and the fleas are back and her skin is back to square one 😢
Holy the fight is murder on us both. She's 14 this March and now she has a tumor on one of her teates that fills up with fluid off and on.
I've been fighting for her for over three years and after watching your video, I am thinking I need to get her that diet please

Dr.Judy I just got done watching this video of Myra and we rescued a 1 1/2 old dog that is a Lab mix but loves full
Lab to me. It took a lot of nerve for me to go to the house and talk to the owners. Their daughter told me the do belong to her mother. I told the daughter that if she was interested in giving up the dog we would love to have him. Everyday we past the house the dog was locked in a small kennel in freezing rain and snow 24/7 with water and food bowl upset. A very small plastic dog house about the size of a crate. No roof on top of the kennel and dog looked very sad most of time laying in the rain or part of her body that would fit in the house with the rest sticking out. My wife and I couldn’t take it any more see this poor dog living under these conditions. I received a call the next day from the mother the owner. She said if I wanted the dog I could come and get her. I was unbelievably excited I and I went and got him. The dog jumped into my car and the woman had told me he wouldn’t ride in a car. I brought him home and he was skittish. He would let me wipe off his paws after being outside but very reluctantly. We changed his name from Banner to Max and he took to I right way. He fell in love with my wife but was scared of me. We have had him for about 4-5 months and he still is afraid of me. He also has a skin condition and would itch places that the hair came off and turned red. When we got him he was under nourished and could plainly see his ribs.i have watch Ceaser the dog whisperer and your videos to see what we could do. We have a 12 year old mixed Pit bull and they are best of friends. We can’t afford to buy ready mad home mixed food that they sell on line. We are feeding a bag of food that my wife was so particular about the ingredients. We took him to our vet got him nuttier and his shots up to date we don’t know if we caused something with his skin or not. We didn’t notice and skin problems a first. Our vet said best to give him a shot and if that takes care of it then we know the problem. We hate getting him the shots 100.00 a month but we are trying this to see if it helps but the shots is the only thing that does.
Please we need help in what to do we will keep him going with the shot but a bit of a hardship if we can find a less expensive and healthier way of helping him. We fell in love with the dog and will do what we have to do. My wife figures the allergy testing will be a waste of money but the shots will cost more that will, I’m trying to convince her. She loves this dog and wants to help him also. And recipes for dog food you might have and suggestions. PLEASE ! My email is pjones154@comcast.net

Thank you for sharing this story. I’m sorry you lost her, and yet you gave her joy. My Pit has had issues with allergies, with skin issues. We found we had mold growing behind our dishwasher. Then I made the huge mistake of buying Chewy brand wet food once. “American Journey” within a couple of days he had bloody diarrhea and started losing some hair. I took him to a board certified allergy Vet. She gave antibiotics, anti-fungal shampoos and told me to use rabbit as his protein source. I’m not a Hunter so I had to look everywhere for butchered rabbit. I found a smaller frozen one for 20+ dollars. My dog is a 4 year old 75lb Pit Bull! I managed to locate a gal who raises rabbits for food. She trusted me and I got a bigger meaty bunch of rabbit meat way cheaper than the one from Spain! I have been cooking for him now about 2 years. I still have to be careful, there are things that set him off, I’m still learning. I use organic non perfumed laundry soap, or anything like that. It’s a battle, and an expensive one now that everything is sky high. You’re a hero to us all though, thank you.

Bittersweet story. Sadly after all Mira has gone through she ends up having cancer. I know she is perfect health and perfect peace with her maker. Your story of this Precious dog reminds me of what is happening to my Terrier mix now. I am trying all I can for her. It is hard for me to be able to afford the care I need to give her. I have 5 senior cats and two other senior dogs besides her. I am planning to save to get her checked for bladder infection. I pray to God she does not have any kidney stones. She does urinate on the floor at times when I'm gone to the Dr. or in the wee hours of the morning she pee when we are all sleeping. She drinks lots of water. They do hide when they are not well. But she does bark. But her skin allergies are severe. I feel bad for her. I feel restricted with my fixed income I only get disability and I'm trying to help them all including my beautiful terrier. I've tried some probiotics chews. Next month I'm ordering a natural floral probiotic. I'm hoping and praying it work for her. I can't bathe her as needed because of my physical restrictions. So I take her when I have the money to the groomers to get bathed and groomed. I have anti itch shampoo for her. She was not always that way but her allergies started when I moved to this one place where it use to be a landfill where our backyard was but I never knew years until after we moved moved there. I want to see my fur baby healthy again with her beautiful full fur. 😔💔🙏🙏🙏

Aww. What a story and thanks for your rescue and sharing. Have to give the previous owner credit on surrendering the pup and a better option of quality of life.
I have been watching you recently, and I am getting educated! LOL I do have an important question, if you can answer: 7 year old male altered GSD rescue with anal fistulas. Predominately a house dog. Quiet, well behaved in a non-carpet home, non-smoking and only animal. After trying just about every brand of dog food to accommodate his constant red skin patches, I am lost. Many trips to vet, many medications followed through to end of dose. He is a cancer survivor. If the itchy red skin spots are allergies, would he do better on a light cooked diet? How do we control the diarrhea from the anal fistulas if he cannot eat certain foods? I am currently researching anal fistulas and related issues. Or is all of this a myth in my head, and what could you recommend I research to get rid of these patched of dry skin spots (hot spots?) in conjunction with the anal fistulas. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge and appreciate your information and time.

I have a lab that is 5 years old. He has started to itch and has started dragging his bottom which has made him extremely uncomfortable. I have tried fish oil, antibiotics , steroids, cooked Turkey, and have tried probiotics and seen a wholistic vet. I have no idea what it is going to take to cure him. I believe it starts in his microbiome. I need a good diet.

Hi I am dealing with severe allergies and a bit overwhelmed. My shih tzu has allergies to most proteins. We were presecribed Hill Derm Complete after my baby girl skin was very red and irritated. After 4 mos it was determined Amoxicillin was not the correct meds. A skin test was performed to determine what meds were needed. The skin infection was now diagnosed as a staph infection which required clindamycin. Mocha and Milo are both still itchjng and was told today to put them on Hill's Z/D. I have tried lamb, salmon, turkey, beef and kangaroo. The allergy test has several synthetic supplements but a vet mentioned today dogs are only allergic to proteins not vitamins and supplements. I have been dealing with this since Dec 2022. I am not able to find any food that doesn't have any of the ingredients that she is allergic. My male shih tuz chews/ licks his paws constantly. I have started foot soaks with Betadine but it is only temporary. I am overwhelmed. They are 18 months littermates. What can you suggest? I have also tried Primal and Stella and Chewy raw. We have reactions to the skin. We also used Kerotolux medicated shampoo

Use Selsun blue with aloe shampoo. In any drugstore or grocery store. That has made a big difference in my dig. I wont give apoquel even if the veterinarian recommends it.i also feed cooked chicken, beef, chicken liver with cooked sweet potatoes. It keeps the allergies at a minimum. Fleebites cause flareups, in my lasha apso and I brought him in to the vet for a teeth cleaning. He prescribed an antibiotic because he saw a little blood in his stool. I told him it happens with stress. The vet said could be colitis because of chronic allergies and stress. And the antibiotics will help with the allergies temporarily he said

Dr. Morgan, I had consulted with you about 6 years ago for my Maltese, Benjamin. Do you still have your practice where you can help me out here. Benjamin is experiencing intense itching through the tail area. He has lost hair there and it is red. I know that the normal vet will prescribe corticosteroids. As a matter of fact Benjamin has been given lots of steroids and antibiotics because he will get this cough which they feel is tracheal collapse. I am wondering that his immune system is shot from all the antibiotic and corticsteoroid. I would love to be able to speak to you if you could be kind enough to respond.

I’m going to attempt to make this myself soon 😬 I did some research and you can gently cook proteins using a sous vide set at 160F for 1 hr to kill off all the harmful bacteria but keep most of the essential nutrients. I already tried this with pork and it worked well with the dogs. I only found like 2 companies that do gently cooked dog foods. If you need the names, I can try to find them again.

@@FitLikeaPhoenix I found Open Farm and The Farmer's Dog both do gently cooked. It looks like even more companies started offering it since I last checked :) I just havent had a chance to research them. Good luck!

I bet the dog owner is divorced now. Sounds like the husband bought a husky without consulting her. No good. So sad but I’m glad the cutie dog found help!

  • @JudyChartrand-uv6oi
    @JudyChartrand-uv6oi 3 месяца назад +1

You might not say it, but I will, that owner failed that precious dog. Shame on her. Husband would go first.
That precious baby was suffering. Thank God you took her. It made me almost weep. I wonder how the husky is doing. If it’s eating the same crap, it will soon be abandoned as well.
I have 4 dogs, all rehomes. They ALL came to me with skin issues. All of them fed cheap crappy food. They’re not fully normal yet, as it does take so long.
They get home cooked meals, as well as a dry food for grazing, in case they’re hungry in between. Which I don’t like, which has no grains, but as you said, still not healthy. Fortunately, they don’t eat much dry food.
Although, a couple of the dog’s smell from the skin issue, and I have to clean and change linen constantly, and give baths often, I would not give them up. They’re more important than my house.
    Some people shouldn’t have pets.

Hello doc, I was wondering what you’d recommend for my Golen Retroever puppy that has cryptorchidism? He’s six months of age and still shows no sign of his testicles dropping. 🫤 I didn’t want to have to neuter him. My vet recommended waiting until 18 months to do the neuter.
