There is one thing I love about luxury watches . Every time a serious, matured hard working guy gets one, he acts and behaves like a 10 year old. Super exciting, super happy, wants to play all the time with his toy and try out everything. Hahahaha it never stops
That's weird I assumed a luxury watch was meant for the guy that didn't have to work really hard to make his money. Like oil tycoons or shipping tycoons or other tycoons. Back when you can buy a Rolex for $124 I could see a working-class person buying one because it was a tool watch and it hadn't obtained luxury status yet.

I had the call to go pick up my Sub Date last week and was watching this before I left my house for my 09.45 appointment. Got to the AD at 09.40 feeling like a man who had won the lottery! I have to say this is an exceptional watch, it just feels right and wears so comfortably. My small collection, a Black Bay 58 and Speedmaster now have the watch my Father, a Royal Navy Submariner in his younger days,, wanted all of his life but could never afford as all of his money and time were invested in his family. He made sure, in his last will and testament that his son owned a Rolex Submariner. A beautiful review so thank you very much.

This is still my favourite video of this watch. The 116610LN is the best Sub. I can't wrap my head around the bracelet size on the new one.
I'm a recovered Rolex fanboy. I have a Rolex but I would never buy one again. A rip-off to buy and a rip-off to service (Euros 1000). I like the style so I now wear a Steinhart Ocean One Premium Blue Dive watch. All the same specs as my Rolex and keeps just as good time Euros 570 and direct from Steinhart in 3 days.
A Euros 10,000 Rolex probably costs Euros 1000 tops. The Euros 9000 you are then paying is for marketing, pr, advertising, sponsorship, celebrity endorsement, fancy shops with staff in the most expensive sites in town. If you offered the people who buy Rolex one for half price without any sign on it that it's a Rolex. I bet they wouldn't buy it.

Just so that everyone is clear - it is not a Rolex mandate, rule, what have you, to remove film, engrave the watch with you initials or anything else. These are individual AD rules they come up with independently.
Dont be like me and let the AD insist on inscribing you’re damned initials into the watch because they claim it’s a ‘Rolex rule’.

Great video. I don’t mind the Rolex boxes. The new Omega boxes are huge. The polished center links on the GMT and Yachtmaster are scratch magnets. Great tip on the screw in crown!👍🏼

I owned the 114060 for 6 months, super nice dial - but I felt that it missed something. It was just too plain for me. So I got the 116610LN and now it feels complete.

So do you still prefer the old case better? The super case gets a bad rap cause the way it looks in photos. The super case looks so much better on the wrist then the old case.

It's easy to be wowed by the visuals and perfectly complementary music, and take for granted the tastefully passionate, informative and immersive experience the tone and content of the narration gives. Today just got mine from AD. Really love it. My wait is only 2 weeks with exceptionally incredible contact. Yes. We all need that to get thing through. I am going to try doing some shootings during my holiday.

Thanks Luke. I think the explorer is probably a better watch for every occasion cos it is dressier but it’s hard to deny the sub. It’s just an icon.

I have exactly 11k saved up just for this watch. I’m scared though to go to a rolex dealer because I’m so negative thinking they will sell me a fake. Any help would be appreciated. What should I look for in a rolex dealer to ensure I get an authentic.

Nice watch obviously. (I have a 1990 16610 - bought new back then - daily wearer) I guess you changed date at Noon. Generally not great (on some at least) to manipulate that near midnight. (I say "before 8 PM or after 4 AM") And the black dial-bezel is for all time. Never gets old - 15 years - 30 years. Not a "trend" (as nice as some of those are!)

May I kindly know your name. I must say you are a very lucky man to buy a brand new Submariner in times like these. You explain the crown the best. The inner rehaute matches exactly at 12 mark. It fits nice on your wrist. I have a question and that is if the serial number is embossed at the bracelet within lugs then this watch is not to suggested wear with fine leather straps. I am a leatherman. Amazing background music.

Haha, like the last comment. I have this same watch and usually don’t wear it as it pulls a little bit too much attention. I enjoy the simplicity and under the radar of my IWC big pilot 43. Only someone who truly cares about watches may comment on it and that’s fine with me. The sub is lovely but I mostly keep it tucked away

Hi there, how long did you wait for the watch, I was waiting for the hulk for 18 months signed contracted and paid £1,000 deposit to AD. However due to wait if 18 months not being met, they offered me black one and said I will wait now 4 to 6 months.

Can’t believe I haven’t commented on this before now! Apologies. Great video as always! You are now officially my favourite watch channel!!! Yachts and aviation being my other great loves! And my wife of course! When I’m celebrating a new watch, or another addition to my pilots license, the scotch or bourbon is my drink of choice! For a Single Malt it’s always The Glenlivet 15/18/25 yr usually 18yr and the Bourbon is Eagle Rare delicious over ice or neat, surprisingly for a bourbon. If it was going to be wine, Barolo or Cabalie it would be!

Although not a fan of the supercase Sub, I haven't completely given up on the idea of owning a future gen Sub with perhaps more slender lugs. Currently wearing a YM40 116622 and SD43 126600.

So people buy a very very very very very very expensive watch expecting to resell it? Or is that the whole reason of buying the Rolex is so you can wear it for a short amount of time and then try to resell it for the amount you paid for it? Or maybe find some unsuspecting sap that will pay you more than what you paid for it because they just got to have it.
Great review and magnificent watch, Platinum is also used to dust the numerals on the bezel with regards to the precious metals used.
Fantastic video sir, arguably THE best video I ever watched made on a Rolex Submariner, I have one and only wore couple of times , I have watched hundreds of reviews but after watching your video only came to know about the laser engraved crown on the sapphire Chrystal. It took almost half an hour for me to spot that, ha , ha I was a worried man as I bought this from my fried by trade in my speed-master and 27500 qatari riyal. Good job sir fantastic filming , great pictures , Chrystal clear precise professional no nonsense narration. Loved every scene and word of it, please make another video after 3 months of usage. pls pls. May God bless you.

I walked in the authorized Rolex dealer, there where two sitting there she pulled them out, I said I'll buy the 116610LN, she talked to me about the watch, I called my bank to release the funds, She took the stickers off, I bought it walked out, I guss I got lucky hearing how hard it is to get ,God blessed me that day. I really haven't worn it, I wear my Seiko Dive automatic SRP777, because of my job.
They don't tell you before you buy one, that the crown won't unscrew properly off the crown tube without messing about and turning it clockwise again, or that the date won't click over until 3 minutes plus past midnight, or that an Omega Planet Ocean is a better watch for £1500 less. I enjoyed watching it anyway.
I like your idea of opening wine to open your box. I wish I would have thought of that last couple of times,

If you’ve just bought a Tudor don’t watch this video. You’ll never look at your watch in quite the same way... Rolex really can ruin just about any other brand when you let it get under your skin. Suddenly all your other best friends just got uglier...
I have a 2008-2009 submariner date..but have the serial numbers on the inside of bezel with the letter V. The width is 20mm and number model 116610. I'm confused on what year it.really is
TIP : dont change the date between 9/10 & 1/2 o clock evening/night . Because the date movement is already in progress then. And if you change the date , the mechanisme becomes damaged.. btw a beautifull watch , hope 1 day ( when i hit lottery ) i can get one. If i win enough its going to be the day date presidental. But i consider myself very lucky if i can get a beautifull sub like yours.. enjoy it.

I have noticed on a couple of your reviews that the watches don't have the tag with the price and serial number.
I have just collected an Explorer from my local AD in Las Palmas. They said that I could not have the tag because it was against Rolex policy. Does this sound correct? I see loads of ads on Chrono 24 showing the watches with both tags.
I will be going back there again soon so any advice would be welcome.

No need to be on the waiting list to buy a submarine here in Hong Kong. Just walk into the Rolex dealer and can buy it immediately. 114046 is USD 7500 AND 116610 is USD 8500 I bought both just last month. July 27th

my 16610 and he'd sell me the new Sub for $9,500… I do like many of the new features, but it’s a tough decision.
I used to own a 2014 116610 but the dust that was continually trapped round the cyclops used to bug me, so I flipped the watch and I now own a 2019 114060.......much happier 😊
Ok. Consistently quality videos. You deserve a sub. I prefer this watch over the gold Daytona. Rolex should pay you for doing their ad campaigns for them. That's a stunning watch.
I sold my 116610LN in favour of the SD43 126600 & have to say I am now questioning that decision. I think I got sucked along with all the internet hype that the SD is the latest & greatest thing since sliced bread. Dont get me wrong, the SD is a beautiful watch but it just feels massive compared to the Sub. It doesnt sit as comfortably on the wrist, is very heavy and to be qute honest I'm not enjoying wearing it as much as i thought I would. Its just that bit too thick to sit under a shirt cuff so cant really wear it to the office. All in all I guess theres a reason the Sub is still going strong after all these years & has achieved iconic status.
they actually gave you the wrong box - on the white tag it will say 'Oyster S' which stands for 'small' which is the box without the flap. On your two tone Sub the tag will say 'Oyster M' which stands for 'medium' which is the box you got with the flap. Stainless Sub's should come with the small box.
I prefer the 114060 because it's the least copied watch. But 116610 is full of high end replicas. Therefore even if we wear a genuine watch people don't tend to look at it
We stellar review as usual, the tip about screwing crown back in was brilliant, I never knew that. What is your opinion on putting protector on the sides of the case to protect from hairline scratches, or do you not bother?

Maybe I am spoiled but a Two K premium for a new one of you really want one isn't all that bad. Especially if your planning to keep it. Two three years down the rode what you paid for it won't matter just the memories you have from wearing it.
