Thanks to you, I do carries at least once a week. It really has helped me with posture but also just with life! Including carrying my tired out toddler three miles on my shoulders one fateful day
I'm a Mason but I also go to the gym. You're right nothing in the gym can compare. Not to mention when you gotta carry it up stairs, pass it through a window and all the other awkward angles that might be involved. Also sheer endurance to keep going for 8 hours. 💪
There’s a 90 something old man I see in the mornings carrying 2 grocery bags filled with something (could be weights could be groceries) and walking up and down the path - it’s amazing to see. Now I know what he is doing
It is very satisfying that I can carry my own rocks now. Small female geologist. Formerly weak. But now I can fill 5 gal buckets filled with rocks, and between squats, deadlifts, and suitcase or farmer carries, I can get them to and from the truck :) The guys at the field site were like "oh... uh... I guess she's got it." Heh.
Sandbag workout has farmers carry in 2 1 arm variations as well as 2 arm overhead carry. 75lb sandbag.... For past 4 months... grip strength, forearm, and core... I feel it! 👍
Damn it! I definitely know I have to do more carries, and don’t. Time to rethink my routine for next week and add farmer walks in. Thank you for the reminder.
I bought a dryer 2 years ago. I put it in my car myself. Brought it home, unloaded it. Pushed it up my stairs. Then I took the old one down the stairs, put it in the car and took it to the salvage yard.
I've been checking your Chanel out for a little while, I've got a broken lumbar vertebrae and was wondering if you'd recommend your videos to help rebuild core strengths and stability.
I mean. I get the heavy carry every time i walk the plates to the machine or bench im on. Or the dumbbells to the bench. Massive forearm pump just bringing the weight across. Tension in core when uneven weight i.e. one side at a time.
All these things will help you if you want directly applicable functional strength, without the amount of time required from weighlifting or body building. As an apprentice do.estic electrician you will be doing a good amount of carrying and awkward angles.
I have forgotten carry and last weekend I had to carry me and my mom’s luggage as we were travelling and Mind you my right elbow has been hurting so much since then. All I need to do is allow it to heal and then work on my wrists strength and arm strength in general
I run groceey errands almost daily...and i never use a wheel cart...i carry a basket jn each hand....i fet like 45 MINUTE'S of carey wxercise every day
Which is more useful; suitcase carry or farmer's carry? I always felt like suitcase was more efficient. You get the same grip strength workout, but also get the benefits of the unbalanced load. Thoughts?
I guess having 6 fish tanks is good for my core! I regularly carry 5 gallon buckets of water from the fish store to my car(when buying special filtered water) or just around my house in general from back porch where I make the regular fish water to each tank. I will say they are heavy and that is a core workout! Had to add 10 buckets full to my pond alone just yesterday! Happy carrying everyone!😅
What does it mean when you always have to carry heavy weights on one side or the other? Equal weight or in the middle causes sever pain in my herniated discs, but one side is fine. Idk how to train out of this.
Carries are an exercise not a movement. The movement is locomotion. Most people don't have the movement ability to start with heavy carries for locomotion training. Even under the conditions that you outline. Locomotion is the most complicated movement. Without the proper progressions most people won't get the benefit you want to out of them.
@danieldangx ah yeah my bad. although it's just a snippet, that beat was originally by skull snaps and also sampled by Kenny dope, but you are right it's rob dougan used in the clip.

Hi! Does this apply for someone with an S shape scoliosis?
With winter here.. is this just as effective on a treadmill or does it need to be over “land”?
I do the heavy carry when I get my groceries once a week. 😂
Mother's strongest lifter
Or, as an academic would write, the absurdity of modern lifes division of labor into status constituted time management
You have money my dude. Once a week?
Groceries, kids, farm work
And up a second floor
last guy is just 💪🏼
Remember having to do this for my mom a while back. She was just worried I'd hurt myself while also standing in the way. 😅
Second guy is way more shredded
@@ArtOfRuin981what is the second guy for you there are 4 in the first vid.
Not trying to be that guy... but honestly dryers aren't that heavy. If that was a washing machine, then that's a different story. :)
@@cainemarko5021plus I’d bet the insides were removed to make the video. Deception abounds these days.
Farmer walks or heavy carries are a great way to train for strength and life in general 💪🙏
Thanks to you, I do carries at least once a week. It really has helped me with posture but also just with life! Including carrying my tired out toddler three miles on my shoulders one fateful day
I actually have an amazing core just from carrying buckets of mortar on one side. I swap sides every bucket. Each one is around 20-25kgs.
you are getting pay for a workout, lucky!
We used to do concrete walls. Forty feet up. Grab steel rods and climb up to the top and shove them through the form.
I'm a Mason but I also go to the gym. You're right nothing in the gym can compare. Not to mention when you gotta carry it up stairs, pass it through a window and all the other awkward angles that might be involved. Also sheer endurance to keep going for 8 hours. 💪

Strong with Kelly! 💪
Love her ❤
She’s a very well rounded creator

those are MINERALS, Marie! ffs
Good on you and your stones

That last man, whew! 😮
Yeah, that’s Mariusz Pudzianowski, he won World’s strongest man 5 times 😂
Coach Dan John has been preaching this since the 80s
props for inserting Mariusz Pudzianowski :D
Another variation I do is walk backwards
Good for your tendons that support your knees!!
In my time in China every morning from 4 to 7am you’d see old people walking backwards, from 60 to 90years old
Walk backwards up a hill… to a slow jog!
i love it on treadmill don't even turn it on just keep it off it will give you nice resistance
never thought of it, great idea thanks for sharing.
Have a child, hike frequently, that’s my que for my regular 19% body weight carry on a couple kilometers.
bruh getting married and having kids is such a normie thing
😂
You are carrying your child like it's a suitcase?
@@mrsimpleslowmo she usually sits on my forearm, so the load is quite similar
Amongst other variations 😂
Awesome advice!! I honestly never think about carrying.👍🏽

Hi!! Can you talk about Lagree? I’ve been doing it for 10 years and have been teaching 6 months. Love to hear your input ❤️

Thank you so much for combining one of my top 2 fav sport settings with Matrix music🔥
Thank you.
I would love to see a video on tennis elbow. Farmer carries are so painful when you have tennis elbow
I've been checking your Chanel out for a little while, I've got a broken lumbar vertebrae and was wondering if you'd recommend your videos to help rebuild core strengths and stability.
The groceries should’ve been the thumbnail 😂
😂😂💯
Squat should fall under push...

Do you advise people with sciatica to train like this ?
All these things will help you if you want directly applicable functional strength, without the amount of time required from weighlifting or body building. As an apprentice do.estic electrician you will be doing a good amount of carrying and awkward angles.
Uneven carry is so beneficial to your core strength and stability, it's a must do.
Dude with the Dryer at the end 😳 😊❤
All the dudes in this video look strong 💪
When that intro track plays, I am ready to do anything!
What song is it ..i know it I just can't remember name
@@rustyshackleford2185Rob D, Clubbed to Death. It was on the Matrix sound track.

Man, Kelly Matthews is a real cool dude.
What is your feeling about potential disc compression when doing Farmer’s Walk?
I have forgotten carry and last weekend I had to carry me and my mom’s luggage as we were travelling and Mind you my right elbow has been hurting so much since then. All I need to do is allow it to heal and then work on my wrists strength and arm strength in general
I run groceey errands almost daily...and i never use a wheel cart...i carry a basket jn each hand....i fet like 45 MINUTE'S of carey wxercise every day
If you do other work that focuses on grip training, is it reasonable to use straps so you can up the load without taxing your grip?
I'd like to do that, but I have sciatica inflamation and its not good compressing my back discs adding weight over them.
Can you use dumbbells the same?
Of course yes. I often use dumbbells at the gym. You just have to be precise in how you position the handle in your hand so it's not unbalanced.
I love farmer’s carry! I’m just 10kg/hand from walking with my body weight in each hand 😊 85kg bw atm.
How do you even get that much weight in a hand? Are there dumbbells that heavy?
This is powerful stuff
In the first clip, the guy with the dumbbells has a huge advantage (assuming they're the same weight) as he's able to use a far less demanding grip.
So does this mean it will correct posture over time?
I tied this. Felt like one of them strongmen 😂
Rotation??? Probably the most underrated movement, and most important for almost all sports…
I do heavy carry in between sets😎
I do what I like and I like what I do 😊
In my younger days feeding cattle, I could carry four 5 gallon buckets full of water at once, around the barn.
You can also hold a front squat position with heavy ass weight for 30 seconds
Can you do it with dumbells, too?
Cmon.....you think there's anything special about a kettbell?
Of course
Anything heavy will work
If they're as heavy as your groceries, then sure.
Very helpful! Thanks, y'all.
I carry a bag of 100lbs of rock on my 7 mile hike. The strength i feel is godly highly recommend carrying shit
Sure you do buddy
Carry compresses the spine but is important
Dude you made that first farmers walk too fast, the music was just kicking hehe thanks for always teaching us
What do you say to the folks saying no more deadlifts because they’re bad for your back?
Six fundamental movements. Overhead press.
Moving a dryer is easy, try a washer
Can the hinge movement be reversehyper or hip thrust instead deadlift guys?
Used to do them all the time but they make my knees kill
This makes my left elbow kill after doing these farmer carrys. How do I fix that?
Are the rower machine and the Roman chair hinge exercise equipment?
BARS🔧🔥
Which is more useful; suitcase carry or farmer's carry? I always felt like suitcase was more efficient. You get the same grip strength workout, but also get the benefits of the unbalanced load. Thoughts?
He suggested unbalancing the load.
6. Twist
Often overlooked!
Great video as always doc! Love your knowledge!
Lol
Reminds me of that "grab his dick and twist it" video on here 😂
Is there a way to do that and get paid at the same time
I guess having 6 fish tanks is good for my core! I regularly carry 5 gallon buckets of water from the fish store to my car(when buying special filtered water) or just around my house in general from back porch where I make the regular fish water to each tank. do it have to be kettlebell? i only have dumbell
What does it mean when you always have to carry heavy weights on one side or the other? Equal weight or in the middle causes sever pain in my herniated discs, but one side is fine. Idk how to train out of this.
The girl with the kettlebells is Kelley Matthew’s. That’s an old video of her but she is an absolute beast. Very well rounded person
girl?
No rotational or frontal plane movements?
Add rotate to the foundation lifts
I’m a above the knee amputee. Should I do the carry unevenly ? And which side should get the heavier weight?
Another variation I do is cartwheels
Can I just use normal dumbells instead of kettle?
How did you come up with this list of 5?
Can you do this with dumbbells ?I know probably stupid question but that’s how my brain works
In LATAM we train going to the supermarket 😅
This advice was first popularized by Dan John as far as I know.
I haul wood to my stove all winter. I’m good on the carry. Lol!!

Even under the conditions that you outline. Locomotion is the most complicated movement. Without the proper progressions most people won't get the benefit you want to out of them.
This exercise is almost entirely limited by your grip strength. It's about demand on your hands/fingers, not your core.
what does ‘go uneven’ mean?
use only one weight?
I go uneven because I have only 3 kettlebells, all at different weights
5 below has kettle bells and hand weights for 5 dollars. Highly recommend!
Can you do this on the treadmill
You can also train this by... Reracking your weights
i always stack my weights , that gives me a carry workout of 15 seconds almost every few minutes in the gym.
In India vilages this is daily work to bring water in 2 buckets from well. For all family members needs and whole day requirements.
I use to hate carrying water in bucket (rural India) as a kid . Little did I know it was crucial exercise
Song name?
I should be super strong seeing as I seem to carry my workmates most days......
Dryer, no problem. Carry a washer like that
Serious question do I need to be looking at my split as like a day of each or ?? How do I fit this into a week where I hit each muscle group twice
What about rotation?
Carrying a WHOLE DRYER is insane! Like it was just a big Amazon box or something.
I shoved mine up a flight of stairs
I do this by putting back the weights after using them
Me carrying 5 gallon buckets of water or chicken feed to the back of my one acre property or garden all year long 😅 I got it!
Another banger.
actually its clubbed to death but still good one
@danieldangx ah yeah my bad. although it's just a snippet, that beat was originally by skull snaps and also sampled by Kenny dope, but you are right it's rob dougan used in the clip.
I love doing the Farmer’s walk my grip has gotten stronger
I walk around the gym with a bar and 20lbs each side on my shoulder like in a clean and jerk. Should I be a menace and go heavier?
