Notre Dame should have joined the big 10, not USC and those east and west coast teams. Notre Dame has rivalries and history with more big 10 teams then any other conference including the ACC

Most historic is a bit of a stretch. Most historic cross country/out of conference rivalry, maybe. The most historic by definition is Harvard/Yale or Minnesota/Wisconsin. The most historic in terms of impact or importance would probably be Michigan Ohio State or Bama Auburn. Just my opinion.

Oregon and Oregon State is up there for the West Coast. 5th most played college football rivalry.
