Good idea! I made a few changes to this plow and used heavy springs to take up the slack and work as shock absorbers. That video is here: ruclips.net/video/vJkBiNa_dTs/видео.html
Hi, thanks, yeah I think it will work. Some snow now would be great. Still have some things to improve like a small fuse box and perhaps some small hard springs to reduce the play in the system.
Good job! I used the yellow handle and clamped it to a mount I made for cameras on the rack. Yours looks good. Also you will be tightening your cables as you go. I put a cable clamp on the dead end and a ratchet strap to pull it tight. Worked good.
Thanks! I would have used the yellow handle to but I had this relay kit laying around so I figured why not use it. I suspected that the wires might stretch, might add something like you suggested. Thanks for giving some feedback from one who tried it out, there are a few videos of this “mod” on RUclips but most are really short and don’t give any information about how it actually works when plowing.
@@NilsKall Actually Nils, the ratchet strap is used only to tighten the cables so you loosen the cable clamps then use the ratchet strap to pull the cables tighter then secure the clamps again. Then remove the ratchet strap. Hope this explains it well enough.
Nice job buddy, I like that setup a lot. I think it’s gonna work perfect for you. No more having to get off to angle it anymore 👍🏻 Hope you have a great holidays’
Great build. I commented on your other intro video too. I had that in mind for a while but no ambition to do. Be careful of how low the mount is. I saw it dragging on the ground.
Thank you, hoping for some snow soon to try it out. The mount is not that low, perhaps you mean the plow frame, that is a bit low due to the carefully calculated geometric (Not! 😂)
Using a winch for turning the plow is so much easier and cheaper solution than hydraulic system + so much faster for turning also I see. Really good job done there Nils. I think it will hold up for many seasons, and I can't see that you will have any problems with that system. I also hope you will get some more snow soon so you can really test it out, and I hope you will make a video about it aswell. And thank you so much for your shoutout, and now we finally got more snow so I have to go out snowplowing today or tomorrow (or both days) 😊
I hope it will hold, I am a bit skeptical about the roller in the wire guide but if (when) they brake they can be replaced by something a bit more sturdy. Was trying to do a construction that could be easily copied by someone else. I hope for snow too, really disappointed when the promised snow turned to rain😢. I hope you will get some views and subscribers thru my shoutout, I will check your new video when it comes.
@@NilsKall It will probably hold, you are a good home mechanic that seems to be able to fix everything and find good solutions for problems. I hope you will get snow from Christmas to give the Christmas spirit. We will see if I get any, but I hope to reach 1K in January but we will see. It's getting dark here already, so think I need to wait to tomorrow for snowplowing since we have like almost daylight for 1 hour (from 11 to 12).
@@NilsKall Yeah I think I will get there in middle of January. I will try to catch the daylight tomorrow, and now we doesn't have cold weather anymore so I can be out snowplowing again.
Need to mount the winch cable attachments to the plow blade below the plow forward pivot so the the cables aren’t pulled on when your plow tilts forward after hitting an obstruction
It is mounted so the trip makes minimal difference on the wire length. It works good but I also added some springs that can take up the small pull that occurs and also take the hit when running into something. This is described in the third part of the snow plow videos.
@@NilsKall if the cables are connected on the plow lower than the fulcrum, the top of the blade tilting forward causes the bottom of the blade to tilt backwards towards the winch, relieving the tension altogether.
@@danno180 yeah I know, I tested the position for the cables with the trip springs off so I could ”trip”’it manually. This was the best possible position all things considered.
@@danno180 ok, can you post a video on your channel? It might be a better setup than this. Cool about your ancestors, do you know any Swedish or Norwegian?
It would never hold up to the abuse of plowing. If there was a latch that lifted when the motor turned and then looked the plow after turning it could work. But then the plow would have to be lifted to angle it.
Hi! Good idea, I only put it this way to have it out if the way but vertical would be better. I am editing a follow up video because I am on version nr 3 now, this one didn’t hold up. Perhaps you should wait until you see that version.
Will that plow fit an 2022 Yamaha Grizzly 700 I want to put a plow on it but thus far I don’t like the regular one as I still need to manually turn the blade. This set up is awesome only if the plow fit the grizzly Hope you can help
Hi, this setup could work on any ATV as it is a modified regular snow plow. If you have mid mount or rear mount you could make it even easier with a vertically mounted winch. The setup in this video didn’t hold up but I made it stronger and now it seems to work. Here is a video of the latest and still working version of the snow plow.
No the cable have held up BUT other parts have broken. I am at version #3 and it seems to hold up. I have everything filmed and I just need to edit it so look out for that video in the future.
Nah, thats for old timers and disabled individuals. I love some frozen gravel to lock for lost nuts and bolts in…. Seriously, I have some plans for that.
Hi! This was the first version, it had a few issues that I addressed in a later video. After the 3rd version I have used it 2 winters and it has worked OK. I left it out so the winch got water in it and needed to be replaced and now I see that one of the springs is bad and the pipe I used as a scraper is worn out. So there will be some maintenance and I will make a video of that eventually. We got a lot of snow this weekend (about 20cm) but I used my Riding lawnmower to plow that.
Tack! Ja ingen snö bara is överallt. Tänkte vänta tills jag kunde testa ordentligt men ifall nån vill göra nåt liknande så är det bättre att få upp videon innan det blir riktig vinter.
