“Easily in my top 11 bottles that I’ve ever had” hahaha love this sentiment! It’s like saying it’s “not quite enough to be in the top 10, but worth an honorable mention.” I can agree... on days when I want the Tennessee charcoal filter flavor (along with bananas and proof), it’s a great option.
Trev here in Maryland I got a store pick in Abingdon MD it was delicious . If all J.D. WERE This Good my only complaint is I wish they would do an Ultra Aged Barrel Proof like 10 years
Like you stated, these are single barrels and they can differ from one to another. Depends on the flavor profile of those doing the picks; some go for more of the sweet flavors, while others may prefer the more oak forward profile. Either way they are great pours and definitely worth a try.
I love the JD Sib BP. I actually have 2 off the shelf bottles opened in my collection currently, 125 proof and a 131 proof. Quite different from each other, but both delicious. Thanks for the great content. Keep it up! Cheers
Not seen a store pick yet! I rarely even see the regulars! But every one of the three I've had so far has been outstanding! Love the background music, Trev! Reminds me of a mix in vibe of Tommy Emmanuel and Dave Brubeck!
Thoroughly enjoy some smooth jazz as my background music haha! We always get the regular offerings, just never see store picks of them! I wonder if they just don’t do that many of them or if the cost is too much for people to want to do them!
Nice review! I'm going to make a store pick of the JDSBBP from the distillery in Nov. My understanding is that one must physically go to the distillery to earn the barrel proof store pick. Otherwise, most stores have distilleries send them samples of the regular Single Barrel (not barrel proof) barrels and make their picks from the comfort of their stores.
Never seen a store pick, but I'm a huge fan of this drink. I reach for this more than ECBP. I just kicked one, have one open, and two in reserve - all different barrels. All 130+ proof and delicious! Agree: super sweet and dessert-ish, which is probably why I prefer it to ECBP most days. The last 2 I got for $52 at my military Class 6 store. It's okay, you can be jealous.
Diabeetus. 😂😂 Great video Trev. We’re flush with JDSBBP picks here in Nashville and have only ever had picks. We need to get a bottle of the regular shelf variant.
My experience with store picks is that it's a hit or miss, often not worth the added price. At times I think it's a marketting gimmick to increase the price.
One thing you have to look for, is that not all with neck bands are store picks. The bottle in this video was NOT a store pick. If you read it, it states "specially selected for" the key word is "for" & not "by" In this case, it's essentially marketing for that liquor store. All that means is it's a single barrel & that store bought the whole barrel, but had no part in selecting what barrel. JD just sent them whatever barrel they wanted, so it's essentially a standard shelfer bottle or one of the barrels nobody else picked. I have a bottle of Four Roses Brl Prf SiB, which is NOT a pick. It was just a SiB they sent to one city. The side label states, "specially selected by Four Roses for (your city)". A pick would have something like, "specially selected by ABC Liquors for our loyal customers".
I have a JD Rye store pick, which I thought was an interesting choice to do a pick on but it's still yummy. I constantly hear that we are all sleeping on the JD single barrels, regular and barrel proofs across the board. They're (usually) in the same ballpark as Elijah Craig BP in terms of price.
I love the single barrel select over the barrel proof as I just prefer a lower proof whiskey. But the JD SiB select is one of my favorite things and I have close to 100 bottles of bourbon/whiskey.
I am not knocking it. I like Jack Daniels and always have. But I really couldn't taste a difference from the original and the single barrel select. I am not talking about you. But I think most people are full of chit when they talk about taste. I took the empty bottle of the single barrel select and filled it with regular jack. During a backyard party I pulled it out and said look at what I got. I poured glasses and kept hearing wow, that is so smooth and nice! My wife was just smiling at what I did 🤣🤣🤣
There are definitely barrels that are dang near indistinguishable, but I can ensure you that have had certain barrels that are SO different you’d think it was something else! Granted, even with the differences in some of them, they are still dang close. I think that’s good to have consistency, that way people know they are getting something good! Also, you’re taking a trick out of my play book! I’ve definitely filled empty bottles with cheaper things hahahaha

I’d love to see something much older just to see how it tastes! I’m sure it’d be out of this world!
It was from last Christmas Trev and that was the first time I had drank Jack in 30 years .
JDSBBP was my intro into the barrel-proof world and has since become a staple of mine. Viscous, sweet, complex, and everything I could ever ask for. 🥃
Like you stated, these are single barrels and they can differ from one to another. Depends on the flavor profile of those doing the picks; some go for more of the sweet flavors, while others may prefer the more oak forward profile. Either way they are great pours and definitely worth a try.
Yep, you gotta find a store who’s picks you trust!

I’ve loved every one I’ve had! All have been from different barrels and I’ve been happy with them all!
I did this last weekend and my Store pick was better. Interesting.
The power of single barrels! Never know what you’re gonna get! Some really good barrels out there for sure
Not seen a store pick yet! I rarely even see the regulars!

Great head to head, Trev! I’ve only had a couple of the non-pick JDSBBP and always a happy pour every time 😁Cheers buddy!
Can never go wrong with them! Have you seen any of the picks by you?

Dig that crazy music man!
I picked a little more jazzy song for this one, glad you like it hahaha

Oh for that price, ALL day long!
Local store has this pick also, haven’t pulled the trigger on this one or the Woodford dbl oak or the Makers Mark or the Old Scout.

You dang Tennessee folks keeping the goods from us!!!
We have plenty of the regular JDSBBP here in Florida, but haven’t seen any store picks
Great video! Getting diabetes just smelling this 😃, good one!
Just bought jack Daniels single barrel select at £25. It is really good value for the money. I don't get any bananas in the nose or the taste
Yeah sometimes I don’t either. Instead sometimes I get coca-cola, molasses and date flavors. Always delicious though 👍
Yep. We are hoarding them. 100%... =)
I’m about to come raid your place!
@@TheBourbonWrench LOL. Don't tempt us with a good time ;)
Damn Trev, hair is on point. If my hair weren't 3 & 1/2 feet long I'd be rockin' the same doo 🤘
Hey I have good hair days every now and then!
JDBP….store pick or not….is gonna be great…that’s a fact!!
You got that right!!!!

I absolutely love them. In fact, I’m a huge fan of even the regular Jack single barrel. They are doing it right over there!
I love the single barrel select over the barrel proof as I just prefer a lower proof whiskey. But the JD SiB select is one of my favorite things and I have close to 100 bottles of bourbon/whiskey.
No Danana sightings in this one?
I’m gonna start hiding them so you reeeeally gotta look
Hey viewers, I’m gonna send Trev some of my store pick JD SBBP from MN, send some from your states so Trev can do a broad comparison!!!!!
Let’s goooooooo

@@TheBourbonWrench I will say this. I have no doubt it's better. But I don't think I have the taste I used to have.
What is your neck dates? Bottling dates?
