Ideas for other Ideapad 510 users:
I replaced it with a 16GB stick giving 20 GB in total, The website states 12GB max but a crucial system scan gave a report of 20gb max. I also replaced the CD drive with a hard disk caddy, put the hard drive there and stuck a 512 gb ssd in the original slot.

on the lenovo site there are some options and combinations are given of hdd and sdd it supports. there is combination of 256gb ssd and 1tb hdd

I upgraded my laptop with a caddy ssd... 9.5mm is working fine even if 9mm mentioned on the maintenance manual.. Telling from experience

I am using filmora for editing and now its very slow.. If i upgrade ram amd use a 128 ssd in dvd drive space will it solve the problem. Or shall i use 1tB SSD by replacing 1tb HDD . In site they showing support till 256gb SSD standalone
You should put SSD only on the HDD bay. Dont put SSD on DVD caddy. You can install 256Gb ssd and it will work all fine.
