I'm an Apple guy, but honest nothing beats the Surface Pro, it's a computerr! The best thing about the Surface Pro tablet is it can replace a computer! That's what I love about it.. I wish if the iPad Pro actually runs macOS, that would be a game changer.
Even if the iPad can run Mac OS, still its not going to be much better than the surface, the OS is simpler than Windows, its great at editing stuffs but for more complex works, Windows does it better with their programs
Fazal Fariz yeah! i’m loving it. been using it for 3 years now and never had any problems. it’s very practical too. i can bring it anywhere. i can play games, work, etc. unlike ipad pro, i bought it last year, and it’s very useless so i sold it. wasted my time tbh. worst gadget i have ever experienced using.
techn0rainbow yeah! i’m loving it. been using it for 3 years now and never had any problems. it’s very practical too. i can bring it anywhere. i can play games, work, etc. unlike ipad pro, i bought it last year, and it’s very useless so i sold it. wasted my time tbh. worst gadget i have ever experienced using.
The Surface Pro 4 gives you more options for what you want to do. A true professional device. The iPad Pro is just an extension of the previous iPads, with an emphasis toward artists.
Absolutely. Though the App Store in Windows 10 is lacking, I'm glad I can run full programs instead of the dumbed down ones found in the iPad. Bottom line, if you want to get things done, then the surface pro is the right choice.
I agree with you. But what good are more options that you rarely or never use at all? Those options turn into something that is "good to have". The iPad on the other hand gives us a more refined experience on tasks that we do every day, plus the apps advantage. And, the Surface Pro is still a half baked laptop that still cannot replace a laptop. Why would I spend over a thousand dollars on a Surface Pro when I can get a laptop for a cheaper price?
+Alex Everything you just said about the Surface pro you can say about the IPad Pro. LOL But the Win10 os is not half baked, there are way more apps for windows (Full apps). If you want a Lap top get a lap top, but if you want a tablet, and you going to spend over $1000, get a useful one. LESS IS NOT MORE!
Alex Speak for yourself. I traveled cost to cost on my Surface Pro 4. By the time I landed, I completed a draft proposal, updated my T&E expenses, tweaked my Powerpoint presentation, and watched a movie. Its not just "good to have", its essential. It's the perfect hybrid.
That was the point. The left one was the Apple fanboy and the right one the Windows fanboy. Neither one could really tell you why the product is superior.
When I see people comparing iOS (basically a mobile phone OS) to a full-fledged Windows desktop OS...I just can't take it seriously. Are you seriously trying to compare an OS like Windows 10, that can run basically anything (full Office, AutoCAD, Photoshop, latest games, old games via emulators...), to a closed and limited platform like iOS that doesn't even give you ability to easily download things from the internet, let alone access its file system or run anything other than limited apps downloaded from a single store??? And according to the guy on the left, having more options and possibilities is somehow worse. Just...wow.. AFAIK, iPad Pro is a TOY compared to Surface.
RandomlyDrumming it's not the Os that matters when it comes to games photoshop or cad, it's the hardware. any computer can run Autocad it's when you get to 3d design that limits get tested. you don't understand how it works it looks like
I understand perfectly well that x86-based machine that is Surface can do much much more than ARM-based iPad Pro. I would certainly like to see how exactly you would run all those programs created for x86 architecture and written in the last, say, 15 or so years on an iPad. And that's just the beginning. Surface Pro is desktop PC "repackaged" as a tablet/laptop, while iPad is, basically, an oversized iPhone. Simple as that.
+Phexism You fucked it up with your 3rd world country shit. I'm from a 3rd world country and couldn't be happier. You think you're better than us, more educated or something? assface.
Lee Cason its funny because i find that i cant do anything with my toshiba that runs windows...😂..it seems clunky and Versatile like it has alot to iffer but then theres nothing there...you should watch alot more apple pencil vids theres like alot there
+ben owen Im sorry dude, but these are suppose to be "pro" devices, meaning I dont want to just use my finger all the time. Where's mouse support for the iPad Pro? I'm suppose to edit video using my finger lol? The iPad lacks basic ports to even be considered pro...
+ben owen And your beloved Apple has already messed up this so called "pro" device haha. Pro my ask...this is even worse in functionality and usability than the original Surface Pro. This video has nothing to do with mobile, but nice try attempting to divert the conversation.
+ben owen We all have opinions dude...I happen to agree with Kain in this video...woop-dee-do. The fact remains that SP4 can do EVERYTHING an iPad Pro can, but the same cant be said for the iPad Pro. It does NOTHING better than the SP4...not media, not gaming, not production/creative work, not customization, not value, not functionality...
+ben owen LMAO!!! Let me tell you about Windows rich ecosystem...the SP4 can run ANY PC game in existence! I can run Steam on it and play the latest Metal Gear, The Witcher, Star Wars, Batman...the iPad runs NONE OF THESE! Not only that but I can play them all with a gamepad AND K&M...theirs no gamepad support for iPad at all haha....its touch or nothing! Im sorry dude, but the Surface cooks any iPad in gaming...you couldn't even install a single PC game on the laughable base model 32GB iPad Pro. The screen is also better on the SP4 and the built in kick stand with adjustable angles makes it an infinitely better experience for gaming.
+ben owen wrong again. SP4 is an all purpose PC in tablet form...this includes gaming. No, it won't play PC games at Ultra settings, but it can play them none the less at stable framerates, which is more than I can say for an iPad. And these are fully featured games as well like CoD with SP/MP/leaderboards/voice chat...MS is bringing cross-platform play between PC/Console with games like Fable, Killer Instinct, Gigantic etc...again none of these games will run on iPad, but SP4 can play all of them. I see you glossed over gaming inputs completely. iOS is a touch only mobile OS...try playing a game like Halo online competitively on an iPad with touch only LOL!!! You wouldn't last 10 seconds. I can play Halo 2 right now on my Surface at FULL fidelity and 30FPS. Every game that you bring up for the iPad is going to be some dumb down, light touch game...SP4/Windows 10 has those too, but it also has every other PC game ever made which cooks iOS's game library in both quality and quantity. LOL...how can iPad be more versatile in gaming when it doesn't even have gamepad support haha? What about offloaded games to an external source? What about cross-platform chats while you game? Any iPad is out of it's league compared to any modern PC device in gaming...this includes SP4.
iPad needs OS X apps ( Xcode, final cut ) and other apps to be really pro , and surface pro needs to be more like a tablet ( apps and games ) interface organizing the os using sensors , iPad needs to be more surface pro and surface pro needs to be more iPad .
Why!!!!!!!!!.......surface pro doesn't need to be any shitty ipad, i can't have 16gb ram and intel core i7 just to play angry birds, i need to get real and dats wat d surface is a real pro!!!!! Cos am enjoying my 16gb ram core i7 sp4 with my fifa 16 and xbox one pad and ipad pro can't do any of dat xo there is no need wasting money on ipad pro just to be playing lara croft relic run...... Get real bro!!!
Have you tried using the surface pro 4 as a tablet only faithfully? (i.e. No keyboard). The Surface is great, but its UI just isn’t as friendly to touch as the iPads, which were designed from the ground up to be used with your hands.
Ashoi F then why is the pro the screen size of an laptop. how are you gona hold it. what the point to use an operating system for something to hold when most of the time you can't hold it... apple fanboy
Sethro66 ... Dude, the iPad and surface are basically the same size (in fact the iPad is a little lighter) if you can't hold one as a tablet you can't hold the other. They're both light enough to be held, the thing I was talking about was the software. Windows was originally designed for a mouse & keyboard. iOS (And Android) were designed for your hands. And of course.. I'm a fanboy for calling the Surface great...
Your comment supports the saying 'Apple is a fashion Accessory' - which is what its become. I miss the days of buying an apple product which to me was simply technology from the future
jay patel Yeah but now it's Android and Windows which are delivering the future. Apple is just copying all. But it's true, years ago it was Apple which mades future
+Macbook202 you are wrong. Ipad less functions and more money (so totally not worth the buy). so what Ipad have tons of apps? It doesn't have alot of programs which loose to windows competitors that have programs like adobe photoshop, etc... Does Ipad have the keyboard which came together with Surface Pro 4 and the kickstand at the back of Surface pro 4? Answer is so obviously NO!! Ipad Pro with 256GB storage and wifi + cellular is about $929 without any accessories not even inclusive of AppleCare pricing.
4:38 he mentions that a click on the surface pen will open One Note only and you can't change it. Well you can change it from settings. I have mine configured single click for photoshop and double click for Lightroom.
Benoit Somers Compared with other app stores, it's fairly empty. Unless you are a Windows 8/10 tablet user, you wouldn't realise how important having a good choice of apps are - Especially on atom chip devices.
Tablet mode works great on the Surface Pro 4, I have not had any problem using it. I have also begun using android emulator apps so that I can use full android apps. I also use Windows apps. It is also a full desktop, I dock it and I have 3 monitors instantly, then when I go to meetings, I just undock it and use it as a laptop.
I am so conflicted about which one to get. I mainly want one for art. On one hand, the Ipad seems to have a feel and a better pen detection with tilt feature. Downside is that the applications are streamlined and more for sketching than professional art. The Surface Pro, has all the great software for any digital artists, since it is windows 10 after all. But the pen, diagonal strokes and surface feeling when drawing/painting as well as the tilt feature are inferior to the Ipad. I really cannot make up my mind.
I'm a huge fan of Apple , I swear by the iPhone but the iPad cannot be compared to the Surface Pro. It's trying to be something that it completely isn't, a laptop. The Surface is an laptop which provides the choice of that or a tablet. I'd be all over the surface if it wasn't for the price
An apple fanboy talking about price XD XD when was the last time you checked the prices for apple products. I mean I have a macbook but Im a google fan
+CaribSurfKing1 No, Microsoft has fixed it with a new hybrid cooling system. It might get warm, but it won't be burning hot, nor make a loud CPU fan noise anymore.
***** seriously? Seriously? So you'll gonna blow x86 app support just coz it has shinny apple logo? And basic windows functionality is pretty much same since windows 98 ( I'm taking about Windows Explorer and comman stuff)
***** Sir, I'm not biased here.. I meant Ios Vs full x86 architecture. Me being a Programmer I absolutely hate how apple lock down their system. It's like driving an automatic.
+ben owen If you laptop has problem with win 10 maybe it's not design for your laptop, win 10 is the fastest Microsoft OS, what are the specs of your laptop?
How can you compare a Mobile OS with a full blown Computer ? This is ridiculous. Surface can work both as a Laptop and a Tablet. There is no question of comparison.
Guys, help me out. I'm studying mechanical engineering. I have to program in Python and MatLab, I have to use CAD, I wish to use a tablet to replace printed worksheets as well as most of the books and use it often in class (either to follow written support or write notes casually). I also have a gaming notebook, though it's not the most pratical to take to class as it is big and heavy, so I'd like to bring it the least I can. What's your opinion? The iPad Pro, the Surface? Or should I consider another option? Thanks in advance for opinions and advice
PSA: the "Surface" app has been updated. The pen's OneNote button can be reassigned to any app/program now. I chose to reassign to desktop OneNote and the Send To OneNote tool.
So, will the surface pro 4 run the latest games in the highest quality that the game can offer or not? I'm talking about games like battlefield 1, player unknown, COD etc..
The comparison/review was not satisfactory. The iPad Pro reviewer spent too much time complaining about the Surface Pro 4 and not enough time explaining why, for example, iOS and the iPad Pro do not support a track pad or a mouse. It is clear that a finger works as a pointing device in iOS so why not a track pad or a mouse? And he also complained about Windows 10 when his brief appeared to be to tell us why iOS was a good experience on the iPad. While the Surface Pro 4 reviewer contributed some positive and helpful feedback on the device he worked with for a week he didn't say enough about the good and bad features of the device and Windows 10.
I bought an expensive Surface Pro 4 i7/16GB/512GB and returned it. The fan is too loud when you are doing anything, and there are major issues with the sleep state. The battery life was also disappointing. Just picking it up, turning it on, easy with an iPad - a chore with Surface, as you press the power button once or twice or more and wait to wake it from it's deep sleep (in such state it continues to absolutely drain battery away). It was disappointing because I feel like those problems can all be fixed in later versions of Surface... and THEN it will be the ultimate computer. The SSD speed, opening Photoshop, gaming, network speeds, interface (love windows 10!) are all amazing... potential - but doesn't meet it. I love iPads on the other hand, because they just do the job when you ask no bull***. I think I'll get an iPad Pro to go with my Macbook Pro (which I feel I will replace with a Dell 15 infinity some point, as I seek to switch from OSX to Windows 10 (too bad the Surface wasn't the easy answer)). There you go, my genuine impressions for anyone considering the Surface Pro 4. I apologise that it all seems a bit Apple biased, but if you buy and use a Surface Pro 4, I'm pretty sure you'll get the same problems I described so heads up.
+SpaceKitty I googled "surface pro 4 update" and couldn't see anything convincing supporting that. I really want a Surface which doesn't get super loud and which wakes from sleep, instantly like a Macbook Pro. There would be more buzz if that were the case.
I would imagine the surface pro 4 would have better support for artists, no? being as you can use the PC versions of Photoshop, Autodesk Sketchbook etc, those of which are far more fleshed out than their tablet counter parts?
+Astronomy & More! First, its his opinion, second I knows that you're an apple fanboy who don't know how to spells correctly and accepts others opinion and yes, you don't have any knowledge about computers, poor fanboy
+Spaton484 lol ! This device isn't Meany to Play COC ! It is used for professionals graphic designers, animators, vfx artist . Go use that apple if u want run that apps
+rabitman3000 They play flappy birds of course XD, 3gb of ram is enough, I skype a lot on my umi rome and use the web and have some other things running in the background, I never get slow down lol android is close with its multitasking, I was blown away that I could have skype with two videos running and still use more then two or three apps
guys... a device as powerful as this can emulate every single app on the google play store... so it got more ''apps'' available period. why do you have to do the review from the view of someone not understanding jack shit about technology?
We've got both at home. For an academic or a student, the Surface Pro 4 beats the Ipad Pro. If you work with a lot of PDF books, journals..etc, you'll find the Surface Pro more intuitive; especially while great PDF editing softwares such as Xodo are more or less made for Windows platform. Xodo on Mac OS is still very lacking. Not to mention that while the Ipad pencil is very natural as far as the lagging is concerned, jotting down on the Ipad screen feels a bit, well, 'glassy'. The Surface provides a more natural feel for pen/surface interaction. Having said that, I found drawing to be slightly more natural on the Ipad Pro 12.9, simply because it flows better than the Surface. Although, I still don't like the rigid feeling when the pencil tip touches the glass screen of the Ipad. I guess you get used to it. All in all, I like both, but one way or another, they're different. And, I don't think it's fair to compare them on equal ground. Academia/school = surface. Art and casual surfing of the internet = Ipad.
I wish the iPad Pro ran Mac OS X. Considering how expensive these machines are along with the huge screen sizes, high performance specs, keyboard add-ons, and high quality pens, they should be running full operating systems. iOS (and Android also) is better for smaller devices targeted for media consumption or communication.
My little review for some having owned a surface now for a few weeks. I also own a 15 inch MacBook Pro mid 2012 Retina and and iPad Air 2 I shocked people when I bought a Surface Pro 4. I guess I got tired of running windows vurtualy on my MAC and the 15 laptop is a little big to keep on the lap. For sitting at the desk I have some problems with that in the last few years and wanted something that I could use sitting on the couch comfortably while editing videos. So Ive recently been asked a lot of why I chose the Surface over the iPad Pro, well for me its not a fair comparison. The Surface is a touch screen laptop with a pen and removable keyboard. The iPad is still and iPad limited to what I can install and software I use because its a tablet. They all have their own use I guess, but If I find a good 3D editor for the surface then I might sell the macbook pro now since I cant sit at my desk all that well anymore. I would say if apple gave the MacBook Air a touch screen and pen, then that would be a fair comparison, but as it stands in my opinion apple does not have anything in their product line to compare to the surface, and surface being marketed as a tablet is just wrong. The Windows store has nothing but cut back apps for the windows phone and if you can run full windows apps then why would you limit your surface and use the apps in the windows app store? Just my thoughts after owning a surface for a few weeks now, and I find the pen to be like a new mouse, I didnt think I would like it but it turns out its a good tool to use when I dont want to grab the keyboard for the surface for the trackpad. I hope this helps some who may be looking at either one, they both have their plus sides and minus sides and its more about what you will be using it for.
Ok here is my situation... I've been a MAC user since 2008, i have a bad ass iMac 27" 5k retina with 4gb vRAM, 32gb RAM, 4.0ghz quad core proc., and 3TB fusion so Im use to working with this POWER on ALL my PHOTOGRAPHY and VIDEO work... BUT im kinda stationary in the office. I do have an iphone 6plus, ipad too and I USE ADOBE CREATIVE CLOUD for ALL my work, SO i can log-in to either device with my account and keep my work in Dropbox or the Adobe Creative Cloud... or even an external HDD? NOW... Im trying to decide WHICH would be better for me so I can WORK on PHOTO-TOUCH UPS "on-the-go" with ALL my ADOBE LIGHTROOM and PHOTOSHOP tools instead of just using Lightroom mobile. I've been leaning towards getting an iPad Pro because I LOVE TABLETS, until a photographer friend told me about the Surface Pro. I havent used Windows OS in a long time, BUT i KNOW I can set up my Adobe Creative Cloud apps on the Surface Pro and I can log into my icloud.com on any browser to use my MAC APPS too... so NOW Im thinking it might be the better option. I truly just want something to help me be productive in touching up photos, admin and internet stuff WHEREVER I might be... but still have a tablet with touch screen and all too. So, do you think I would be better off getting the Surface Pro, so i can have the beautiful FULL ADOBE apps WITH a TOUCH SCREEN? OR should i stick with being a full APPLE man by getting the iPad pro? ANYONE'S feedback would be appreciated!! Thank you SO MUCH!!!
Go with the surface pro 4 man it will do you a lot more good than iPad Pro for example you can use a full version of the application not that water down iPad Pro version lol it's a powerful power house..... With an Intel i5 or i7 how can u go wrong lol
+Jeremy Williamson yea man the surface is the way to go you will love it I love my SP 3 and my SP 4 and another recordation is the Surface book you should take a look at that one too some powerful stuff lol it's out of my budget right now but it's on my New Years list
+Jeremy Williamson if you want a water down version than iPad Pro is the way to go but if you want a full Adobe experience than go with the Serface u won't be disappointed trust me
Where does an iPad pro have laptop abilities? Any iPad can have a keyboard, i got my iPad mini 4 years ago? Somewhere like that and my first case was a keyboard case and i still have it till this day and you can buy a stylus compatible with other iPad devices.... I don't really see anything that considers the iPad a tablet with laptop abilities. The surface pro 4 is both a tablet and a laptop since you can change it to tablet mode and do the same things and etc. i am right now planning on getting a surface pro, but I'm right now waiting for the 5 to come out since it possibly may be releasing in April.
Ultrabook is an Intel trademarked standard. It requires devices to be thin and light, running on SSD (or at least hybrid), touchscreen, (With Intel core i or m series CPU), etc. Also it needs to be approved by Intel to be advertise as ultrabook. Surface and Surface book both meet the hardware requirements, but neither sought the approval.
iPad Pro for me. I'm already heavily invested in the OS, it covers all my needs for school, it is thinner and lighter, Apple products tend to hold their value (so when I upgrade I can just sell my old iPad and get much of what I paid), and iOS 10 will likely be a huge upgrade in terms of productivity and other functions a power user would need. When the iPad Air 2 came out I called it: 2GB of RAM meant Apple was planning to begin to introduce multitasking. They generally don't include internals they don't need. Now we are up to 4GB. While pushing all those pixels is likely demanding, 4GB of RAM means Apple has big upgrades planned for the next iteration of iOS. Mark my words.
The take away for me is why would I pay that much money for an iPad Pro if all it can do is be an "accessory" to an actual pro device like the SP4 already is?
+Mohannad Kattan "IOS devices offer better apps for student than Windows devices" LMAO...I almost died! Thanks for the laugh buddy. Just out of curiosity...what are the names of these "student" apps that YOU use?
+Cebo Feaoce As a student, I too find iOS to perfectly meet my needs in a way which is much more compact, easier, and power efficient than using Windows. It also has apps which I prefer to use with regard to content creation, and has fantastic integration with the iPhone.
***** Strangely enough: people know their own needs better than you. It looks as though Mohannad has his needs pretty well met, so there is no "better" in his case (seeing as his needs are already fulfilled).
Stating what he needs, and how his device fulfills those needs, is not "making a very bad statement." That is nonsense. Again: if his needs are readily and easily fulfilled by his current setup, you don't have a place to tell him he is wrong to say it is better from his perspective. I, too, am a student and have found that I much prefer iOS to Windows or OSX for getting my work done. It suits my needs better than the others, so it is a fact that for me it is better, and offers better apps, than the other options. Sorry, but you've no leg to stand on here.
Sometimes trying to make a tech product do 2 different things. Example is making gaming system a PC and vice versus, just doesn't work very well. It's more than hanging a keyboard off a gaming system or putting video game controller in PC.
apple's product are useless, there sales are declining at rapid rates and theres no innovation with them. I liked apple until iPhone 4s and 5 but then android seemed so much better and customizable. They are just selling products because of good marketing. come on people they sold you a stylus name apple pencil for 100$ which usually comes free with most tabs. as a power user I choose surface pro as it can run Photoshop and all the other major apps+ it has USB ports and its can replace my laptop.
Steve Jobs was the Tim Cook of the previous era. Both were master con-men who sold overpriced and outdated computers with locked down OS's and brainwashed the masses.
surface pro 4 I fell in love with. the only drawback was I preferred the galaxy tab pro OLED display. I bought an ipad and used it for about 2 weeks before throwing it in the corner. I have switched from iphone to Samsung, only thing I miss about iphone is imessage and face time. yes I know there are alternatives but those functions on the iphone were easier. I prefer my macbook pro to the pc laptop I have. I find the 2016 macbook pro inconvenient. surface pro is on my list
Natural Ponds Lakes & Streams by Spring Creek Aquatic Concepts meh, I like the iPad. Apple Pencil is great, by the way. Best stylus of all time. Except the charging, it't kind of stupid
They're obviously used for two different reasons. iPad is a media consumption device and is meant to work flawlessly with your other Apple products. Surface is a workhorse, it runs Windows. There are advantages and drawbacks to each product, depending on what you want to use it for! Safari on iOS is downright annoying whenever I am trying to download my bills online, or tediously scroll through a "desktop" website. There is something so great about a mouse and keyboard experience, it's just a lot more accurate than a stubborn finger can be at times, lol! Now the App Store on iOS is downright amazing, I love all of the options to choose from, as there is pretty much an app for almost anything you do, for the most part. I can't say the same for the premature Windows App Store. As I said above, they are used for different reasons!
I can't believe the lame way the ipad blurs the windows when sliding the divider, seen at 2:28. Even the basic Surface RT didn't do that. How can you resize the windows accurately when you can't see what's actually in the window? And a "Pro" machine that can't run full programs, only apps? And hasn't got expandable storage, USB ports, can't run a second display etc? Not very "Pro" is it?
Did he say that windows 10 is just to functional for a tablet hybrid? Should they change it to an xp to make it less functional? Then it would be perfect lol
An I pad pro is not even a comparison to the surface pro 4. The iPad Pro is a tablet that has a typing board. And the surface pro 4 is a computer that can be used for gaming editing and much more, and can also be used as a tablet. Overall the surface pro 4 wins by a long shot.
Windows 8.1 offered a much nicer touch screen experience over Windows 10 Tablet Mode, which is too fiddly. Everything from the charms bar to the larger live tiles and classy animations was so much more touch friendly. Windows 10 offers nicer desktop experience and it feels like a single OS. I just wish there was a decent mobile device out there running Windows 10.
I think it really boils down to what kind of user you are. For those who are looking for something that can do basic stuff really well, the iPad would be the clear choice, and it's also cheaper than the Surface Pro. For those intend to use it to transfer files to a USB, then the Surface Pro is obviously the one for you. You can say, why not just get the Surface Pro then. Well, the iPad still does a better job in keeping things simple and just more refined in the things it does. Plus the apps advantage. I don't even remember the last time I used a USB. That said, I can hassle myself to use my iMac for that (thank goodness I can still put my iMac to good use). My iPad is my daily driver, and I am totally happy with it for my needs.
I like iPads but the iPad Pro doesn't make sense. I have an iPhone 6S plus, Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8" and Surface Pro 3 i5. This combo works for me for some reason.
As a business owner the iPad Pro is much more tempting. Our software was custom built for iOS and allows us to work 50-200% faster than our competitors. On iOS you can lock down features and time wasters much easier then spending nearly 1k for Windows Server and dealing with the massive headache that is active directory. Finally Apple makes device managment dead simple. At all times I know where the devices are and who can access them and can remotely manage them much easier such as remote wipe etc. Essentially my recommendation would be to buy the tablet that has the software you need to get your job done. In our case its the iPad Pro.
I have been looking into the surface line for some time now and have finally decided to get it. It is just a perfect fit, especially after seeing this video and some of the features that other videos did not cover. Microsoft has a hit here.
I'm an Apple guy, but honest nothing beats the Surface Pro, it's a computerr! The best thing about the Surface Pro tablet is it can replace a computer! That's what I love about it.. I wish if the iPad Pro actually runs macOS, that would be a game changer.

Surface isn't a tablet... it's a computer with a tablet function
thanks, i watched the video too
xNamsu Can't breathe... XD
But you with pencil
And that's it's strength.

The guy on the left should not be involved with comparisons at all. I could spot his bias to apple from a mile away.
That was the point. The left one was the Apple fanboy and the right one the Windows fanboy. Neither one could really tell you why the product is superior.
One's bias shined like a homing beacon while the other at least came off as reasonable.
TnVGaming Nah, they both were fanboys.
Danbo Clearly.
I tought I was the only one. iSheep alert
"It's not multi tasking, its just doing two things at the same time." WTF
in a way that you do just what you see as with windows it runs things in the background so that's the difference
u must be one of those dumb apple fanboys
jack you must be one of those dumbass teens with no future drinking starbucks
Prodigy A real human 》》》
who said i was a apple fan boy
srsly apple haters gets easily triggered just dont mind them
When I see people comparing iOS (basically a mobile phone OS) to a full-fledged Windows desktop OS...I just can't take it seriously.
But the Surface is technically a tablet, just like the iPad. So yes it's fair
the size, portability dosent matter he is talking about the os
RandomlyDrumming it is no where near a deaktop, you could build a much better one cheaper actually
Someone get the guys on the left some popcorn, because he's salty af toward the Surface Pro
Lol yea he is..... Freaking Apple Fan boys
is it that hard to believe that people have personal preferences and opinions? are you from a 3rd world country?
@Dioji King He is just stating his opinion... it is a review.
@jerrylittlemars ... we'll it is a comparison and that's how they usually work making it... fair. Better than having 2 microsoft fanboys
+Phexism You fucked it up with your 3rd world country shit. I'm from a 3rd world country and couldn't be happier. You think you're better than us, more educated or something? assface.
Surface Pro 4 > iPad Pro
by far...
yeah
FUNCTIONALITY AND FLEXIBILITY WISE.....OF COURSE
MacBook Pro>Surface Pro
by the way there is a way to customize what the button does with a program, so if you are interested to do so you can
is there even competition? iPad pro is just a huge iphone
with closed File System...
Haha, seriously?
The ipad pro was designed for art and work
YellowJello the Ipad pro is a giant bad iphone
true
Lol everyone knows surface will win.
What a WRONG fact.
+Republic thunderstreak apple products are for pussys!
+Republic Thunderstreak Yet it's so fucking right..
+Bubble Gaming lol
There's something called opinion. I'm sure you've heard of it
"Just an accessory..." I'm not paying for 1000 dollar accessory. I'd much rather go with windows.Much more versatile.
His argument towards the end was "too much functionality" lmfao
Lee Cason its funny because i find that i cant do anything with my toshiba that runs windows...😂..it seems clunky and Versatile like it has alot to iffer but then theres nothing there...you should watch alot more apple pencil vids theres like alot there
Without further details putting them side by side, obviously you should know surface pro is big Daddy to ilag pro
+ben owen
Im sorry dude, but these are suppose to be "pro" devices, meaning I dont want to just use my finger all the time. Where's mouse support for the iPad Pro? I'm suppose to edit video using my finger lol? The iPad lacks basic ports to even be considered pro...
+ben owen
And your beloved Apple has already messed up this so called "pro" device haha. Pro my ask...this is even worse in functionality and usability than the original Surface Pro. This video has nothing to do with mobile, but nice try attempting to divert the conversation.
+ben owen
We all have opinions dude...I happen to agree with Kain in this video...woop-dee-do. The fact remains that SP4 can do EVERYTHING an iPad Pro can, but the same cant be said for the iPad Pro. It does NOTHING better than the SP4...not media, not gaming, not production/creative work, not customization, not value, not functionality...
+ben owen
LMAO!!!
+ben owen
wrong again.
Any iPad is out of it's league compared to any modern PC device in gaming...this includes SP4.
iPad needs OS X apps ( Xcode, final cut ) and other apps to be really pro , and surface pro needs to be more like a tablet ( apps and games ) interface organizing the os using sensors , iPad needs to be more surface pro and surface pro needs to be more iPad .
so true!!!
definetly
Why!!!!!!!!!.......surface pro doesn't need to be any shitty ipad, i can't have 16gb ram and intel core i7 just to play angry birds, i need to get real and dats wat d surface is a real pro!!!!! Cos am enjoying my 16gb ram core i7 sp4 with my fifa 16 and xbox one pad and ipad pro can't do any of dat xo there is no need wasting money on ipad pro just to be playing lara croft relic run...... Get real bro!!!
Omar kmt nah surface is good the way its is apple sucks in my opinionn
the tablet mood in windows and the programs and controls are not optimized for touch
So the Surface Pro 4 is "WAY TOO FUNCTIONAL". And that's a DRAWBACK? ;-)
Have you tried using the surface pro 4 as a tablet only faithfully? (i.e. No keyboard). The Surface is great, but its UI just isn’t as friendly to touch as the iPads, which were designed from the ground up to be used with your hands.
Ashoi F skins
Just like android there is launcher but on Windows it's skins or software
Ashoi F Ok my point was that the iPad is trash
that last argument for the ordinary apple guy "the surface pro is too functional!"
If the iPad Pro could run Mac OS as well, that will be the best
AwesomeArmpit123 yep
shut the fuck up.
Ok
But the point is... I can't.
as bad as windows 10 is mac's operating systems are completely trash
Surface. More functions - less money.
Tobias Dettinger but it looks like a pice of shit (sry but i love the apple disigns)
Srcuso it's a subjective opinion. And no facts. I love the design of the Surface Pro's. Apple is always the same design.
+Macbook202
you are wrong.
I have mine configured single click for photoshop and double click for Lightroom.
btw you can change the app that the pen button opens up in the regedit.
You actually can change the apps you open with the pen click.
my question is, do you still need to sync the ipad pro to a computer? if so its not a pro device. cause it syncs to the surface pro...
You can change the apps that the pen opens. It's not just one note.
You can customize the pen to open whatever program you want @TechRadar
Windows 10 needs more apps.
iPad Pro needs a desktop-style OS.
Got it.
Windows 10 needs more apps?? It runs millions of apps!
Benoit Somers Compared with other app stores, it's fairly empty. Unless you are a Windows 8/10 tablet user, you wouldn't realise how important having a good choice of apps are - Especially on atom chip devices.
+dbsirius Dude, the Surface is just a regular PC that runs gazillions of programs. Who cares about "apps"?
Benoit Somers The other various Windows 8/10 tablets with arm CPU's cannot run standard x86 programs. So apps are important...just not to you.
What are you talking about? This discussion is about Surface 4 Pro, not some crappy low cost rip-off nobody cares about!
4:40 needs an annotation that you can change what the button does now
Tablet mode works great on the Surface Pro 4, I have not had any problem using it.
Shadow7758 You should still switch to something else like android or LG phone.
An apple fanboy talking about price XD XD when was the last time you checked the prices for apple products. I mean I have a macbook but Im a google fan
reisen udofjgalsdkfj inaba Both have massive discounts which are taking them to that price
Does the surface pro 4 still double as a cooking hot plate? Like the 3 does?
+CaribSurfKing1 No, Microsoft has fixed it with a new hybrid cooling system. It might get warm, but it won't be burning hot, nor make a loud CPU fan noise anymore.
Gareth is so biased!
I agree the hardware is killer but the OS is so Naive about that iPad Pro
At Least you get the full x86 system on Surface pro 4.
+Warpony lmaoooo
+ben owen surface will put ipad pro to bed any day, any time...
use different colors for each, then we could tell which one was being used in each shot. Both in color of pad, and color of pencil/write-color
How can you compare a Mobile OS with a full blown Computer ? This is ridiculous. Surface can work both as a Laptop and a Tablet. There is no question of comparison.
I like your review. Two great devices, with different strengths and directions
Thanks in advance for opinions and advice
so is the surface pro better for artist?
Can you do web development or any sort of Software development in IPad ?
Correction: You're not limited on which app you can trigger with the surface pen's top button.
iPad Pro's design, form factor and screen, and Surface's internals and software! Also, Surface's keyboard and Apple Pencil!
PSA: the "Surface" app has been updated. The pen's OneNote button can be reassigned to any app/program now. I chose to reassign to desktop OneNote and the Send To OneNote tool.
So, will the surface pro 4 run the latest games in the highest
quality that the game can offer or not? I'm talking about games like battlefield 1, player unknown, COD etc..
Hey +TechRadar
In ipad, For moving cursor easily use cmd + arrow keys to move to end of documents & alt + arrows to move cursor by words.
In terms of performance would the iPad Pro beat out the surface pro 4 with the intel m3 processor?
+schmutz06 That's all been fixed lol
+SpaceKitty I googled "surface pro 4 update" and couldn't see anything convincing supporting that. I really want a Surface which doesn't get super loud and which wakes from sleep, instantly like a Macbook Pro. There would be more buzz if that were the case.
***** Look on windows central lol my surface pro 3 does not even get loud since the update
grab the stand when holding surface...... I don't know why everyone ignoring the stand, it's a perfect handle for single handed use
I would imagine the surface pro 4 would have better support for artists, no? being as you can use the PC versions of Photoshop, Autodesk Sketchbook etc, those of which are far more fleshed out than their tablet counter parts?
clearly the guy in left is an apple fanboy...
+Astronomy & More! First, its his opinion, second I knows that you're an apple fanboy who don't know how to spells correctly and accepts others opinion and yes, you don't have any knowledge about computers, poor fanboy
GUYS WOULD U RATHER HAVE A MICROSOFT SURFACE PRO 4 OR A FULL ON SAVAGE WINDOWS 10 PC #YOUDECIDE
the savage windows 10 pc of course
death to die a savage pic and iPad becuz I con rin rimete disktep
Waterix can you spell? i'm just asking. no hate. :I
I can but if I space out #YOU DECIDE its not a # get me
death to die i was saying that to waterix -_-
I'm for an iPad pro after Christmas. I prefer the apple setup to the windows. Windows seem to have less apps (skygo/bt sport/clash of clans)
+Spaton484 lol ! This device isn't Meany to Play COC ! It is used for professionals graphic designers, animators, vfx artist . Go use that apple if u want run that apps
no comparisons on battery life??
Surface pro lasts 8ish hours, iPad Pro 10-full day depending on usage. This is according to Technobuffalo I think, some tech channel aha
the iPad pro two needs to have a trackpad on the keyboard which should come with it and it should run Mac-OS then we'll talk!!!!
this has to be one of the dumbest comparison that ppl thought would be good.
ipadpro has 4gb ram
MY PHONE HAS 4GB RAM
fail #apple
Mine too 😂😂
Got a npte 5 or s6 edge+? or a zenphone?
+Guille Hava maybe oneplus two?
+rabitman3000 Android
+rabitman3000 They play flappy birds of course XD, 3gb of ram is enough, I skype a lot on my umi rome and use the web and have some other things running in the background, I never get slow down lol android is close with its multitasking, I was blown away that I could have skype with two videos running and still use more then two or three apps
Wembz fuck yourself
My phone is better than ipad
It's cheap 50 dollar phone
guys... a device as powerful as this can emulate every single app on the google play store... so it got more ''apps'' available period. why do you have to do the review from the view of someone not understanding jack shit about technology?
Art and casual surfing of the internet = Ipad.
pl share your writing experience (comparison) for students
Dioji King Thanks so much! that's my MAIN reason too... I want the FULL APPS, not mobile things! lol
+Jeremy Williamson yea man the surface is the way to go you will love it I love my SP 3 and my SP 4 and another recordation is the Surface book you should take a look at that one too some powerful stuff lol it's out of my budget right now but it's on my New Years list
Dioji King Im ready... i've been nervous about going back to Windows, but... this thing is worth it... for Adobe's sake! hahaha
+Jeremy Williamson if you want a water down version than iPad Pro is the way to go but if you want a full Adobe experience than go with the Serface u won't be disappointed trust me
Dude...... How iPad Pro can be better? You have your monster PC in one hand!! God... What is wrong with the people these days?
You call this a definitive answer and didn't even mention/compare the keyboards and how awkward the ipad pro keyboard case is?
how is this even a question?
Can you play Half life 2 in the Ipad Pro? No
What about Surface Pro 4? Yes
nuf' said
Where does an iPad pro have laptop abilities? Any iPad can have a keyboard, i got my iPad mini 4 years ago? Somewhere like that and my first case was a keyboard case and i still have it till this day and you can buy a stylus compatible with other iPad devices.... I don't really see anything that considers the iPad a tablet with laptop abilities. The surface pro 4 is both a tablet and a laptop since you can change it to tablet mode and do the same things and etc. i am right now planning on getting a surface pro, but I'm right now waiting for the 5 to come out since it possibly may be releasing in April.
one is called "tablet", the other one is called "ultrabook"
#TRUE
Xun surface pro is not an ultra book, it's a tablet. Surfacebook is an ultra book.
whatever, both are better than Apple products
Mark my words.
you can change the apps on the surface.
Whats he trying to do exactly at 2:37? :P
I pick ipad Pro for life
surface pro nice wallpaper!! any one have a link for that?
David Balderrama it comes with that wallpaper
Yeah.. I have w10 too, but I dont found it
Head menu -> Settings -> Personlize -> Its at backgrounds
The take away for me is why would I pay that much money for an iPad Pro if all it can do is be an "accessory" to an actual pro device like the SP4 already is?
+Mohannad Kattan
"IOS devices offer better apps for student than Windows devices" LMAO...I almost died!
If he feels that an iPad Pro better suits his requirements, then you've no place to tell him what he "needs."
Surface Specs pls
Is the surface pro 5 worth it? Looking for a tablet I can draw, stream video, and listen to music.
Dont get a surface, there sooooo slow and the ipads now are way faster
True
WOW YOU COULND'T BE MORE WRONG
Apple's innovation died with Steve Jobs.
Apple has never INVENTED anything and Steve Jobs was a good thief that exploited other companies like Xerox.
Steve Jobs was the Tim Cook of the previous era. Both were master con-men who sold overpriced and outdated computers with locked down OS's and brainwashed the masses.
On the surface, he looks calm and ready...
On the left, the vomit in front of him is shitty.
surface pro 4 I fell in love with. the only drawback was I preferred the galaxy tab pro OLED display.
I find the 2016 macbook pro inconvenient.
surface pro is on my list
my friend won a microsoft surface pro 4 for 20 bucks on a cruise, last week, and it fully works
it's funny how the surface pen has an eraser, but the apple pencil doesn't
For people who actually do things...Surface Pro 4 >> Samsung Note 12.2 >>>> Apple Ipad "pro". apple runs a distance 3rd
Natural Ponds Lakes & Streams by Spring Creek Aquatic Concepts meh, I like the iPad. Apple Pencil is great, by the way. Best stylus of all time. Except the charging, it't kind of stupid
Everyone said my name was stupid so I changed it. did y poo u watch the video.. it shows how bad the pencil is
the iPad Pro is just a large iPad and keyboard when the Surface Pro 4 is the tablet that can replace your laptop
Can you plug in a mouse into the Surface Pro 4?
Cool! :)
I fucking LOVE my surface pro 4! It's awesome to draw on, highly recommended.
Ipad provis an iphone with a bigger diplay and split screen feature and Pencil support
great stuff lads
I can't believe the lame way the ipad blurs the windows when sliding the divider, seen at 2:28. Even the basic Surface RT didn't do that. How can you resize the windows accurately when you can't see what's actually in the window? And a "Pro" machine that can't run full programs, only apps? And hasn't got expandable storage, USB ports, can't run a second display etc? Not very "Pro" is it?
Way too functional for a tablet/laptop hybrid... Lmao
Is it worth having a giant tablet?? I mean anithing bigger then ten inches is a bit to much for me
Did he say that windows 10 is just to functional for a tablet hybrid?
Yes I would say that us to be the case but ever since the new update came out its much better if not flawless
there is, and it has lots more features than iPhone... but it has lesser apps
you can change the apps
+Alex Eh? iPad pro with 128gb (lowest config of the SP4) is MORE expensive than the SP4.
+KentSpain85 And that's fine. I'm not on welfare. Gas for my BMW is also premium and it never bothered me ;-)
I like iPads but the iPad Pro doesn't make sense. I have an iPhone 6S plus, Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8" and Surface Pro 3 i5. This combo works for me for some reason.
Wish apple can do a hybrid ISO of macOS
Now you are asking too much.
They took 4 generations to update their mobile screens. Can you imagine???
Does anyone know where I can get the wallpaper on the surface pro? (I'm not talking about the default Windows wallpaper)
You guys are pointing out the strengths and weaknesses but in the end your still not saying which one is better!
