I think this tune is so lovely. I imagine “The Lorax” as I listen…
Have to give kudos to the videographer/editor as well. Beautiful job of enhancing the beauty of the music. Great to see these four incredible musicians presented so perfectly.
Absolutely wonderful
The slow, consistent and insidious lifting of the tempo is just brilliant. My best guess is that everybody is keying off of Jordan Tice's guitar strumming in order to move the tempo up in such a magical way. Wow.
Who needs anything else, if one has Hawktail continuing to make and play music? This is music from the heavens. Jack said it right, all so eloquently and succinctly..."The only truth is music.” Fredrick Md in a couple of weeks, then on to Savannah Ga in April to see them and then Vermont in August. My spirit soars.
You don't hear many stringbands out of Nashville playing in 15/8 time. KUDOS!
Can't stop replaying this.
Exactly where I'm at!
Simply, gorgeous modern chamber music.
See yall in St Johnsbury VT!
Beautiful music
this sing left me happy and sad at the same time, speechless.
This is one of the most beautiful tunes I've heard in the last year or so. I just can't get enough of what you are doing. I just think you guys are so beautiful and the way you play together is just amazing to me. Keep up this wonderful music that you're doing.

I'm a listener of all genres. I like music that sounds great, and has some emotional richness. This tune really hit the spot! I love the work. Brilliant development of a single motif, that builds and carries all the way to the end. It also helps to have an intimate recording and video of it. Love it! Thank you, Gary Bass for posting this!
Every time I hear this tune is gets prettier! There’s so much delicate tones and style in this tune that it is incredible and beautiful. I want to hear it again.

This is one of the most haunting, compelling melodies I've heard in a long time, and so beautifully played and arranged! Reminds me of 'The Fair Rain' in England.
I got the shivers-- how does this not have a million views?

Wow. Beautiful and inspiring. Met Brittany and Paul this Summer at Chris Thile’s Acousticamp and was wowed there, too. Just had the pleasure of seeing Hawktail open for Nickel Creek last night, and this piece was the highlight of the whole evening for me. Cheers!
Music from heaven
Wow great craft. Perfection in all dimensions.

Hawktail was so good as long as they were together and still are long after.
All such talented musicians.

had a lovely visit from them at Wintergrass festival this February. They are still laying it down.
fire, chef
Very excited for the upcoming album. I saw Hass and Kowert in concert with David Rawlings, such class act musicians.
Hope to see a video featuring Dominick soon! And the new album too!!
Dang this is good. So nice to get the notation for it in Fiddling magazine !
Looking forward to seeing Hawktail on Thursday night at the Museum of Making Music.
Easily one of my fav melodies.
Amazing performance. I can't wait for the new album. Wanted to see your concert at the MiM on Nov 8th, but sadly I'll be out of town that day for work.
wow!
Meravigliosi...tanta bellezza
Wonderful. Somehow it sounds Swedish. Like pure, fresh water.
awesome
Hi Brittany, JoAnna's friend Jeff here. This is wonderful, looking forward to hearing more!
Todos os meus sentimentos se resumem nessa linda canção.
Gunnison was not ready for you. You are such the future
Four thumbs down apparently from individuals for whom the power of the crescendo led to a reflection on their own poverty of passion.
I thumbs-downed your comment because of my poverty of alliteration!
This music denies the scarcity of individuality
I heard you on Bluegrass radio talking about Unless and how it was inspired by a swedish artist/song (?) but I couldn’t hear who you were talking about. I would love to know. Thank you and thanks for a wonderful composition! I can’t stop listening to it :)
/Anders in Sweden
We used to play a tune called "Fastän" as Haas Kowert Tice. It's by Eva Saether. That tune and the way we played it informed "Unless."
Wow.
Wow! Come to Charlottesville!
-Pete
Pure
Infinity begets nature.
Very nice! I've always wondered how it would sound if Brittany switched to viola. :-)
Отлично же.
This video deserves more views ! Share if you agree
Much better band name!
2/3 on the great ASCAP names.
I'd bet money that's Tim O's Nugget GBOctave Mando !
So is Dominick Leslie a band member or a guest musician.
Dominick is in, hence the name HKTL, Hawktail.
:")
New guy ehh? Step forward, new guy. Let us see you.. lol - - - I've been using this tune for my alarm clock in the morning for the past month.
How do you set up a song as your alarm clock? Sounds lovely
This is on the level of Väsen, I think.
Yeah, except it takes Jordan Tice's dreadnought and Dominick Leslie's octave mandolin plus some help from the bass to approximate what Roger Tallroth does with his 12-string guitar alone.
That said, I really love Hawktail -- a lot!
ok is it me or does it sound like you just walked into Grizzly Hills...
