While there are still some Kremlin apologists in Russia, like there are GOP and MAGA apologists over here, the average Russian citizen has been getting screwed over, exploited, manipulated and so on for decades, if not centuries. Ain't much hope for their declining population when their young men are constantly sent off as cannon fodder for any one of Russia's many campaigns. As (barely) first-world powers go, probably only the huminerals of PRC China have it worse.

Our economy is like a flailing fish, fighting for its life. The normal state of the U.S. economy is actually very bad. Because of this it goes into convulsive spasms fighting to grow any way it can out of desperation. Tricks, gimmicks, rule changes try to stimulate the economy >>and prevent it from falling but they only bring temporary relief to people since, when you factor in inflation we are declining.
People believe their currency has the worth it does because they have no other option. Even in a hyper inflationary environment, individuals must continue to use their hyper-inflationary currency since they likely have minimal access to other currencies or gold/silver coins.
Inflation is gradually going to become part of us and due to that fact any money you keep in cash or in a low-interest account declines in value each year. Investing is the only way to make your money grow and unless you have an exceptionally high income, investing is the only way most people will ever have enough money to retire.

Before getting too happy about these developments, let's not forget that Putin is still in power and has access to 6000 or so nukes (I understand that most of those probably don't work but even if only 1% do, that's still an existential problem for the world). Appeasement is clearly not the answer but still... I hope that really smart people are thinking of scenarios that would let Russia end the conflict without too much humiliation or any significant gains. Both need to happen, and both seem very unlikely at the moment. I don't want to be THAT guy, but imagine the Mustache Man in the bunker, except he still has a bunch of V2s with nukes at his disposal.
I think that we should all check all items and clothing to make sure that these goods are not Russian and Chinese products before we purchase them this way, their economy will be affected.
