@Atlas I grew up on Pierce as Remington Steele, and was waiting for him to get Bond. After a few films, they said he was getting too old. I was like: BS! The next one showed Pierce winded, bearded, and I swear: I could his knees cracking when he walked-jk😉. But, I grew up on Dalton, so, I didn't even give Craig a chance. My* Bond has to be brunette. The few scenes of him that I've seen have been ok, but I'm just stuck on brown hair. Idris has brown hair, so I'm good with that. Dennis Rodman has blonde hair: not good. I'm just wacky that way.😂

The line was originally written as "I'm black James Bond!" and Idris insisted they change it because it was right when all the speculation was at it's peak.
When it comes to deciding who plays fictional characters, you have to decide how important race is to that specific character. I don’t think James Bond’s race would really change much about the character, but then there are others characters like Black Panther that would make zero sense if the race was anything other than African.
At the end of the day you just have to decide if race is a big deal for the specific character

On the other hand, I would pre-order a ticket for any movie starring a non-black Black Panther. That's like watching the Titanic hit an iceberg in slow motion...
Another thing to consider is that Elba's just getting another of the "White man's hand-me-downs," rather than getting a role that's creative and original in a genuine spy flick that doesn't have a white man as a main lead with some actual cultural relevance. He deserves better as an actor. Race swapping nowadays just seems like a petty jab at white people for controversies-sake.

it doesnt really matter to anyone, but a super fan like me. However, we know Bonds father is from an old Scottish family and mother is Swiss. Born in Germany and educated in the schools like Eton and Fettes. While it's not impossible, it seems very unlikely this man is black
I agree with this too. People Don't seem to realise that race doesn't really matter for a majority of White action hero's. Batman and Captain America are the only two I can think of that kinda make more sense being white.

Yeah of course, however some Americans seem to think that we don't have a large black population in most countries as well. You wouldn't be that obvious in Munich for example. Just overall I hate this debate, the cast of a film, unless it defies all logic, should never have to go a conscious diversity treatment first, they should hire the best actors most fitting to the role. Call it racist all you want, but for us whites, it's something that matters, since it's a departure from reality, at least in part (where cells are made out of white people, not blacks or arabs). Black people have literally every other movie/movie franchise to watch. Whites only have Bond.

Actually, in Europe is not called "the n word", that word is actually said without problems (I'm excluding the Brits though). Americans are the only ones that have that concept (actually there is no equivalent on using a letter to enunciate a word, regardless of how offensive in any European language that I remember).

You always offend someone on the internet when you cast someone for a famous role. Even Daniel Craig faced criticism for being blond when Bond supposedly has dark hair. And that's just the beginning. Chris Hemsworth was criticised for Thor, Tom Hiddleston for Loki, Idris Elba for Heimdall, Ben Affleck for Batman, Pattinson for Batman, Christian Bale for Batman, Heath Ledger for Joker, Henry Cavill for Supes, and many, many more. And all of these guys bombed their roles. They were all terrific in the way they handled their characters. There will NEVER be an actor that is to be cast as the 007 that won't trigger any group of people on the internet
