My daughter and I are airliner obsessed. Specifically the 747. We consider ourselves plane spotters. We’ve been watching the flight radar app and saw that anchorage gets 747’s all the time so we’re flying up there to plane spot for 2 days this summer.
There are a couple of good spot to sit and watch them! You will have a great time! The AN-225 was there this summer. I saw it on the ground when we landed but never see it in the air. If you want to talk to pilots go to the F street restaurant/bar. I’ve met a 747 crew there on their layover.
@@DosKumaks Robin! This info is GOLD! Thank you. We’ve been looking at maps and trying to find the best spot to hdng out at and get landing over flys. In Portland it’s really easy to stand right at the end of the runway
If you look at the map there is a place called Point Woronzof that is easily accessible that is at the end of runway 15. You can keep driving past that and the road runs parallel to 15 and you can watch the action as well.
If you look to the left of the runway as the aircraft is nearing touchdown you will see a park area that is accessible to foot traffic. It is near the cliff you see at the end of the runway. You are very close to the action there, but the runway is partially obscured, so it is good primarily for watching the aircraft on final approach.

Just got back. I always laugh when the attendants talk about water landings and flotation devices when flying into Alaska. If we hit the water I almost hope I don't make it thru the crash. That waters a little chilly this time of year. Safe travels everyone.
that's because 747's carrying cargo usually land at a heigher weight that a pax 747, and thus have a higher approach landing speed (about 20 kts in this case).
If your VREF ( may be REF+5=165) was that high then why was a flaps 25 and auto brakes level 4 landing was done? Where as, for flaps 30 you would get lower REF speed and lower auto brakes setting could have been selected to cover same landing distance. Is this because of the cross wind? Any way it was a Great Landing Sir!

Why the FUEL PUMP 2 & 3 AFT EICAS during rollout with 13.5 kgs of fuel? Anyone know? I wouldn't expect those pumps to be uncovered with that fuel quantity.

Wow. Nice camera work. Having the steady cam for the GoPRo shows how really bumpy it can sometimes get inside the aircraft.

Hello captain. Can we have a differential thrust video and also how the trim system works (since there’s no trim wheels on 747)
Fazal M ok- there is a trim indicator on the upper EICAS on the B747-8 and on either side of the control stand on the -400
Obetmaz 747 Thanks for your reply captain!
Yes Anchorage airport requires engagement of the Anchorage
Why did the autopilot disengage uncommanded?
It was commanded - we talk on there intercom through headsets. A simple ‘Disengaging autopilot- by Pilot flying
Then a ‘Check’ by pilot monitoring
