Thank you for the great reaction. I was at this performance. The atmosphere, as is always the case at his concerts, was electrifying. He always gives 110%. He is, quite simply, the best singer and performer ever!!!!
John had an uncanny ability to take any song from any genre and put his own spin on it. He was a huge fan of ACDC and he often performed this song and always did a shout out to them and this as being the best rock song in the world. It wsd his way of showing respect.❤❤
Totally enjoyed your reaction Phil. John was the ultimate entertainer....vocals to thrill ones soul. Also John is one of the kindest and caring human you could imagine...did so much for charities with fund raising concerts for our farmers, bush fire relief even toured overseas to entertain out troops. Deeply loved by all Aussies and other artists.
That song was an ACDC song you should hear there version but in the same concert you have to do the song help cause this man farnham he can sing any song I love the man his magic his band ❤
This is a cover of one of AC/DC's most well-known early songs: ruclips.net/video/g-qkY2yj4_A/видео.html The cover and your reaction take is good mind you, but it is a straight-up cover (slightly exaggerated for the stage performance reasons) as every part is just lifted from AC/DC including the bagpipes. I want to point this out since that is the real reason you see the recognition and nods in the audience; he is a famous AU singer covering an even more famous AU rock band and song which they all are well aware. You really should include at least a passing mention that this is an AC/DC cover, but perhaps you were not aware.
I've heard John say more than once that he thought ACDC was the greatest rock and roll band in the world (e.g when he sang it with Tom Jones). He loved this song so why would he change it? He's cover here, and the energy he and the band brings to it, deserves it's accolades. It's extraordinary and is a tribute to the song and the band. ❤
I also love ACDC and the original of this song, but I love this version as much, for different reasons. Bagpipes in IALWTTTIYWRNR?? Do you mean YTV? The orchestra battling the guitar is, I'm pretty sure, a JF addition. Cheers.
It isn't a competition, we have respect for all our great artists, as they did/do for each other. AC/DC covered more than 20 songs in their career, and I'm sure that the dozen or so artists of those originals took the covers as a compliment, not a rip off, from such an amazing band. As Angus Young did when John covered this song in 2015 at the R&R Hall of Fame (both he and AC/DC were being inducted), as a tribute to AC/DC, who couldn't be there.
Lots of artists cover other artists songs because they respect them not as s rip off. Heard ACDC version back in the day much prefer this version more powerful and energy in the performance. I understand if you are an ACDC fan you wouldn't like or appreciate John's version or his phenomenal voice that he has the musical arrangement tor it with the MSO gives it another level.
@@elainebarnes7870 While I completely agree with the almost all of your comment, I totally don’t agree that AC/DC fans wouldn’t like this. I’m an AC/DC fan, love their music. I’m also a John fan and this is one of my favourite performances of his. People who appreciate music can enjoy both; there doesn’t have to be a competition, that’s not usually how Australians work.

Well put Bellas1717 it’s not a competition John often introduces this as the greatest rock and roll song ever in respect of AC/DC
