  • While the whole country watches The Great American Solar Eclipse, an event The American Astronomical Society predicts will be the most-watched total solar eclipse in history, there's a sub-set of the population who won't be watching. We learn why Native Americans are sensitive to an eclipse and believe it's a time of reflection and a time to be indoors.

      All this things have been transformed with time and people added superstitions specially after the Catholic Church, "being cursed" is a catholic concept. Native Americans wisdom was based on science and also spirituality. Things I've head with the eclipse is that pregnant women should not be directly exposed to the eclipse for the baby's health, maybe because of the powerful energetic reasons that they mentioned in this videos.
      My grandfather was NA, and the church forced everyone into catholicism, so instead of him doing his healing work, he became an exorcist, he didn't believe in the church. He used to say that people was sick because of their own mind (although church made people believe it was "cursing" "devil" and all that bs).

    Makes sense. I have always wanted to witness celestial events in the sky. Hale Bopp, eclipses, shooting stars, I've never gotten a chance to see them. In the back of my mind though, I always felt like it was best that I didn't.....

    I'm not an expert on native religions, and I think the woman in this interview mentioned this briefly at the beginning, but aren't there many native tribes in the country? I feel like asking one tribe how "THE Native American culture" views an eclipse is a bit generalizing.

    • @jcant77
      @jcant77 3 месяца назад

      It’s offensive in my opinion. There are 574 federally recognized tribes, and each have their own specific beliefs about the eclipse. Kind of ignorant in my opinion to ask that question, and group all tribes together.

    Maybe there is some truth to what he said about not viewing it and how it can affect you. I have seen many people claim that they felt different or weird during the eclipse. I personally didn't notice anything but that does not mean others did notice something. I'm just looking at this a possibility not saying is complete fact.
