Kuhkau was renowned for his flute music - and someone wrote: "The brilliant flutist, Kuhlau has written yet another masterpiece". Kuhlau laughed, because he actually never played the flute himself. He just had a talent for writing for it. Flute music was highly in demand as "hausmusik".
This work is quite traditional. It is very well written for the instruments. It is pleasant, but we vcannot claim it an unknown masterpiece. We have also an excellent trio by Weber for the same set of intruments.
Delicately beautiful...not a very well known composer...but what a gem of a piece!
This is the only complete recording I found for flute+cello+piano, so it's priceless :) and sounds very beautiful, many thanks for sharing
I have listened again. Where has this piece been all my life? Some of the sweetest flute playing I have ever heard.

Altro che "autori minori"! Un capolavoro, piacevole e che rispecchia il proprio tempo
I have just discovered this piece. Lyrical, delicate and beautiful.
Prima o dopo questo genio dalla vita sfortunata avrà il dovuto riconoscimento: non è un musicista minore ma un grande!

Many heartfelt thanks for posting this beautiful music.
This was written originally for two flutes and piano. But the cello instead of the second flute is the best version.
Awww, I love this piece! It's so heavenly :)
His music has a gracefulness that reminds me a little of Schubert.
UpAndOut after all it's the same era.
0:41 is one of the most beautiful musical discoveries Ive ever made
Charming music!
Remembering FRIEDRICH KUHLAU (1786-1832) on his birthday !
Nice music. Thanks.
very nice!
Delightful.
Wonderful playing, indeed. I wonder if the fl.2/cello part could work for viola? (I'm a flute player)
I think so, but maybe some parts have to be transcribed one octave higher, but it could sound very nice :)
I found it here

It was also published in a version for flute and cello..

It doesn´t have to be. Still worth listening to.
was his right eye missing?
He was about 12, when he dropped a bottle and a piece of glass pierced his eye.
flute, cello and piano? op119= two flutes and piano!
