1998-2008 kobe made me appreciate the midrange , 2009-2016 taught me how to expand my game by utilizing fundamentals , skill set, footwork and the post.
I’ve never seen an athlete be so content and focused on life after playing. Like Mike Greenberg said, this dude dropped 60 in his last game, barely took his Lakers jersey off and won an Oscar “for crying out loud.” In my opinion he’s the GOAT, and what he’s been doing since he retired, working out with players, passing his knowledge down in the form of stories and art for the youth so that it keeps them interested and engaged, whether it’s his short film, his book, Detail on ESPN, is only elevating his status.
Dennis Leavitt , I’m a big Kobe fan but he isn’t better than LeBron. When the discussion of the Goat, comes up twenty years from now, it’ll still be Jordan and LeBron.
bjjtime Listen, Kobe was the villain in the NBA and very polarizing but he has always had a strong cult of personality. You will feel that Mamba charm.
Its a smart move tho. Its like u really dont retire after everything you bought to the table through the years but being able to pass on that prestige knowledge about something u love and advanced in so much to others who r upcoming in that same field of interest.
Kobe Bryant deeply wanted to imitate Michael Jordan in order to get fast recognition in the NBA. He copied Jordan's excellence, then adding the breathing concentration, he became Michael Jordan. He became the NBA's greatest. He incredibly mimicked Jordan style. He lost he's soul.
When kobe said he's concentrating on the next 20 years I felt a great sadness in my heart... God bless you kobe for showing us what a real champion thinks and acts. You were truly a blessing to the whole world.
It’s dead ass therapy when I hear kobe talk I know he doesn’t want to do anything in the Lakers front office now but man I hope he changes his mind. One of very few players who scouted legit talent he called out Giannis when he first came over, called Buddy Hield and DFox, said DLo was an opportunity away from being an all star I can go on and one I love this man kobe is my goat I don’t give a damn what no be else thinks
Lil Dagga It’s probably because he looks for his own characteristics in players, mainly being the motor and work ethic. Giannis for example sleeps and eats basketball, just like Kobe he went through traumatic experiences and used the sport as refugee. He even beat Kobe fucking Bryant to practice that sold me on Giannis, his jumper will develop because of those “Mamba Challenges” on Twitter and so on, I believe Giannis when he said he was going to take Kobe up on the challenge by shooting 1,500 shots a day in the summer. Reeks of HOF career.
My favorite athlete of all time. The man was as smart as he was gifted on the court. Beyond his gifts, in every arena of life, he dedicated his mind, body and soul to becoming the very best that he could be. Very few people can say they gave it their very best in this life. Admirable. A true role-model.
when he says he has moved on and not caring those who's the best ranking, i truly believe because he's not the type of guy lingering on their past success, he's the type of guy who's always want to improve themselves and keep conquering
"I typically do not engage in things that I can not definitively win. It's an argument. Argue for what?" - One of the most powerful lines he said, shows his TRUE competitive spirit. And true focus on winning in basketball.
i think before while playing he had no reason to be humble because he was the best player and he knew it, so really he was being authentic, and i think hes authentic now because hes not talking about himself as a player currently playing, while currently playing he wouldn't have been cocky to say hes the best because it was true, or to carry himself that way because he KNEW what he was putting into the game to be on top so he was always very sure of himself. i think kobe is misunderstood as cocky by most people, he shouldve been, what kind of athlete isnt cocky whether on the inside or the outside, you cant be competitive without a certain measure of pride in who you are and what you do, kobe just seems like a very authentic person, so when that was how he felt he exuded that self assured superiority because that was the experience he was having while competing, he was better and he knew it and he was unapologetic about it. he may be humble now but maybe that is another feeling he is having as someone not playing basketball, he could be the same person having a different experience, he's not competing with anyone in this stage of his life so his authenticity comes off as humility, as well as the fact that im sure he has matured alot over the years and he has had time to process things and learn from past experiences. but he comes off to me as a straight shooter who has nothing to hide, he is and has been just being himself
