oh and very interesting video, i was born in the 1950s and recall staying in dozens of motels just like this one,in our family travels. brings back so many happy memories for me a sincere thankyou, from a new subscriber😉😉
Hi John, As a kid we were always on the road as a military family. I loved staying in those Motels. The Tennessean looks like it was a nice, peaceful place to stay in its time. Regards from Ody Slim
Awesome Video! I remember visiting my Aunt when she actually lived in one of the rooms for alil while! This piece of history is long gone now....Tore down to nothing now! I live 2mins from there. I had always hoped they would fix this place up and make apartments or something out of it!! Oh well! Good piece of history in this video!!! ❤❤
Fabulous video Jon. Watched Kentucky Rangers live stream. He put up photos of his animals and family and one of your vids with Ray Ray in haunted tunnel. Great fun but scary in tunnel with those voices. Australia 🐾💕🐾💕
My late father had a friend who owned a motel like this. he was having trouble-could not compete with larger, more modern hotels nearby-so he ran it until a buyer could be found-the new owner tore it down and put up condos.
What a shame to see how everything was just forgotten about. The folks that built it probably died & that was it. There was a beautiful Victorian home in Edison, N.J. I would see because it was across the street from where I got on my shool bus. I wish I'd taken pics of it when I only got to go in it once in the early 1990s. It was so well built & had been taken care of. When you walked into the front door to the left was a beautiful fireplace, there were metal tiles on the ceiling & crown molding all over. Red velvet wallpaper. Pretty crystal lights. It had a nice big porch on the back. It was 3 storys high with an attic. Every room was so nice & the Victorian furniture was still there. The woman was 98 when she died in her bed room. She was the daughter, & had gotten the house from her parents. The place was bought by a land developer & of course it was torn down & three homes were build where the house had stood. What a shame. If I hadn't been in the Army I would have tried to have gotten it on an historic list.
Thanks during the live streem for saying my fave funny word of yours--"turdlet'.That was a very fun night. Thanks to you I got off cig smoking ! I'm doing the vapor thingie & am on #3 strength. Will get down to just vapor soon. The clowns who've been mooching cigs from me for 5 yrs are p- o- ed. Oh well. One guy was really ticked off & looked like he might get abit nasty. ( I live in a crap HUD apt.But soon will try hitting the place with a big lawsuit -- that's why I'm still there.) I spent 14 yrs in the Army & have two 3rd degree black belts so he wouldn't of faired too good. (-:
Great find John, what a pity its wrecked, the shag pile carpet and the old couch takes ya back in time. Even though I wasnt born yet its amazing how it looks on the outside kinda colonial look to it
Did you do the vid of the cemetery in Rogersville, Presbyterian Church? My grandfather was born in Rogersville in 1876 and they were Presbyterian. Possibly they attended that church! So I had to check this out even tho I'm pretty sure they were gone before this place was even built.
If you're ever in the Roane county area, here's a couple places you might be interested in checking out, the old Roane county court house in Kingston,Tn, built in the 1850's, and The Temperance building in Harriman, Tn, build in 1890's. Maybe something you can google and see if you're interested.
Sure was back in the day a nice property.Makes me wonder if place was bypassed by a new interstate highway.Sad😢buildings too far gone to repair now.Eventually will get bulldozed over, classic 50s roadside motel.Reminds me of Breezewood,Pa.turnpike exit motels from same era.
If I had ylthe money I'd like to buy both propertys. Then done some research to see if building a new motel/hotel & restaurant would do well in that location. I'd put in an all around indoor/out door pool. In the sumer & all winter you could swim, hot tubs, ect. Next door outside you could use the pool in the summer & in the winter you could ice skate. In the summer show movies outside where folks could sit on blankets or also rent or have folding chairs. In the back you could have a really nice garden, walk path with nice benches.Next to that would be a nice home to live in. How does that sound folks?
Hotels have interior room entries. Motels have exterior room entries. I prefer Hotels by Hilton. This Property would renovate nicely into Studio Apartments with MidCentury Modern Decor. My son was born in 1985 - 😉
Hey there Ray Ray! Good to see you on the video. It looks like you and John are having a good time roaming around making videos! Take care my friend, Regards, Ody Slim
