    hey guys,
    just to mention: THIS is not how the case is supposed to work, as you can get from any pictures(e.g. in win website) the bottom is supposed for intake (--> dust filter), the front for outtake (--> no dustfilter needed)... The case uses the effect of warm air going up and ventilating the graphics card directly... The front just lacks of intake area (much blocked)... I'm quite sure this could help the temperatures....
    (---> maybe new testing needed, so you don't use the potential, what is quite sad...)
    greetings ;)

      This is correct. Radiator fans in push configuration to send air OUT of the side vents, with the bottom fans populated for intake.

      Here's the airflow graphic from the website. www.inwin-style.com/uploads/Product/gaming-chassis/301/301_overview_versatile_01.jpg
      Of course, that's not to say that this would definitely get you better temperatures: radiators are more efficient when used as intake. But it might be better, and it would definitely net you less dust!

    I'm currently doing a build in the white w/blue version for my niece's b'day. Here are my mods so far :
    1-removed the plexi from the front IO, stripped the blue silk screen and In Win logo from it and replaced it with her name in vinyl with light blue vinyl behind it returning it to a close to factory look, but fully custom.
    2-replaced the power supply fan with a blue led fan to illuminate the inside as there is a cutout for the PSU fan exhaust on the bottom of the enclosure
    3-hidden blue LED bars tucked into the inside of the rail inside the bottom of the TG side of the case. Got them at the auto parts store on a whim, they just happen to fit perfectly. Wired them to molex for power.
    4-CNC milled out a hexagon pattern on the front to help it breathe so I can mount the radiator on the other side of the bracket inside what would be the side air intake area, thus giving more space inside the chassis and more airflow as this case is pretty claustrophobic.

    The side airflow is an exhaust. This case gets its air intake from the bottom (the clue is the fact that there is a dust filter for the bottom). Air comes in from the bottom, and exits from the front and back, well suited to a negative pressure design.

      @@zealoustherealous yea I have this case too which is why I mentioned the bottom dust filter in my first comment. It is awesome. So sleek looking and the most compact mATX case I could find at the time. I have the fans set up to give me intake at the bottom and exhaust at the front and back. It works pretty well.

    I know it's a few years old, but I just bought this for a itx build. Almost every itx case I see either has a basement that chokes air to thicker gpus, does a sandwhich style orientation which if you have a hot gpu that backplate radiates heat to the motherboard and cpu, or you get stuck buying a expensive ncase m1 that is never in stock and you get no side panel to see the inside of your case.

    I see the progress being made in this case,. and duly noted.. However your comments on the fact that the case needs to have a breathable air flow. Needs to be addressed. Agreed. I am always up for a challenge of cable management. And this one is on a list of several. The need for rubber grommet's and proper placement of cable pass through's is and should be a rule of thumb to all case manufactures please,.I do like this case and relatively in the future ,. I hope to also become a full fledged Case Reviewer myself.. I want to do them all. Dimitry you have my Dam good reviewers award for your best efforts in giving us your best insight's of each case by case review. Thank You very much sir. And God Bless.

      I just built a mini intel build with it and my temps are fine. I put a mATX mobo with i57600, 16gb ram, a r9 280x from my old build and a 800w semi modular psu in mine. I have 3 cougar long life fans (at least they say they are :/), 2 in the front, 1 in the rear exhaust and i don't seem to have any problems with cooling with the only problem being the stock intel computer. My ONLY problem with this case is that my 3.5" drive bay sat too close to the rear panel and my PSU sata power cables don't have a L shape to them and the rear case would NOT fit, so I had to nudge it forward a bit to make it fit. Other than that, I really like it and everything fit. Also, word of advice to anyone getting this case, DO NOT get a standard PSU, at least get a semi-modular or modular PSU and you will thank me later.

    I have very mixed feelings... the case is sexy AF, is my preferred form factor, and one of the smallest in that category as well... but that restrictive airflow design... you should not sacrifice function over looks. If placing the intake fans on the bottom resolves that (would be interesting if you compared the set up you had here with bottom mounted intake fans), maybe it would be great. Still, looks like even the bottom is still restrictive. I really would like this case, but that's a huge doubt.
    EDIT: InWins website shows the case to be designed to pull air from the bottom, and use those side vents along with fans for exhaust. I wonder if temperatures would improve with that configuration?

    IMHO you would likely get better temps using the radiation on a push fashion and pushing that air out the side and not sucking from the side. Then if there is room putting some fans on the bottom to pull air into the case. At least thats how I would do it.

    I think the best feature of this case is probably that you can remove pretty much EVERYTHING from the case with just a few screws. Unfortunately, the PSU shroud and MB tray are one piece, and the shroud is very much in the way, so you almost have to cut the shroud to make use of the front if you're going custom. Also unfortunate, once everything is out, there aren't many places to screw any custom stuff you add back, so you'll have to get creative and plan carefully.

    I feel like case needs 5 things to be a great case:
    1) needs be wider - that way they can adjust the area behind the motherboard for cable management and to keep that side intake viable
    2) needs to be taller - so that those bottom fans can fit with a matx motherboard installed
    3) rgb lighting on the i/o because rgb everything these days
    4) Change the power supply mounting because of what Dimitri noted. I feel like an extended bracket that slides in through the back would be great for this case.
    5) the little bracket for hiding cables needs to be bigger to allow for more cables

  • @wreckervilla

    I think Inwin ought to have thickened up the bottom of the case to allow for that upward airflow, but you can also put a micro atx board into the normal 303 and have that lower bay for fans.

  • @chunkynugget
    @chunkynugget 7 лет назад

    The first thing Im gonna do when I get this case is to cut a hole in the front for a fan and connect the fan to the gfx card so that it will pull fresh air only when the gfx needs it. Seal the mesh on the metal panel and use the rear fan as exhaust.
    I dont like bottom mounted fans cuz thats where all the dust collects.

  • @iamaboozer
    @iamaboozer 7 лет назад

    If the airflow is meant to come in from the bottom and then out the side vents, I don't see why the rear couldn't be used as intake as well(i'm aware of the PS fan as an exhaust). A polyurethane foam filter could be trimmed down and used to filter the rear intake. Just an option for bringing more cool air into the case. Adding bottom intake fans also have the added benefit of concealing the bottom MB headers. Anyways, I bought this case for my new build, everything is on trucks and out for delivery today. Excited about my new Ryzen build.

  • @retrospct
    @retrospct 7 лет назад +2

    I own this case, it was the worst PC build experience ever. Dual 120mm AIO water cooling is near impossible, stick with a single fan AIO if you're going to do water cooling. Even then it still doesn't cool properly and my i7 7700k gets 90 degrees + often. I anticipated that my CPU would be running on the hot side with a mATX enclosure but this is too much. Unfortunately, there are not many mATX cases with tempered glass and I went for the InWin 301 since it was smaller. I'm going to be switching out to a Phanteks Evolv mATX TG asap. Best of luck with your PC builds everyone!

  • @philt.8097
    @philt.8097 7 лет назад

    It seems like this case is better for M-itx motherboards, leaving opportunities for two 120mm intake fans on the bottom, the front 240 radiator setup for exhaust, and the rear 120mm set to exhaust as well. I would be very interested to see this type of setup and how different the temperatures would come out, compared to the fan setup in the video.

    I like the case very much. Many of those cables could be routed behind the motherboard and the temps would be much better if you use fans at the bottom. I don't see any drawbacks in this case. And about that "only cooling area" at the back of the case, luke did tested and cable management does not affect the cooling potential. Nice review tho. (that case needed some RGB lights to shine tho.)

    Oh and FYI, The bottom is intake the back is exhaust.
    So I went back and looked 3:13 thru 3:22 and see that your radiator fans should be exhausting thru there out the back side.
    Put two 120mm intake fans in the bottom turn your radiator fans to exhaust and lets see the numbers please.
    While you are there you could try the rear fan in different configurations, None, intake, exhaust.

    Thanks +HardwareCanucks! Thinking of getting this case and I had a thought:
    What if you flipped your Heat Sink fan around so it pulled from the back, then flipped your rear exhaust fan around so it's intake. Then use the two front fans as exhaust and two bottom as intake?
    The front two fans don't have filters anyway, so flipping the rear, a single fan, shouldn't introduce any more dust.
    I feel like this would make a nice airflow in the case with minimizing turbulence.
    What do you guys think?

    i want the case pretty bad, however it has a few issues i would hope to be addressed with a small update maybe in like an rgb model comes out so there is better airflow, cable management and ease for well rgb as that is what i am aiming for, so if they fixed a few of those things, do with the 301 like they did with the 303 with the rgb variant, id be happy

    What do I think about this case? It works hard but looks great. All said and done, I prefer a case that works easy and still looks great. But for the cost of this case its good but not Fred worthy imo...

    How much water do I need to pour on the top of the case for the plant to grow? I didn't see any seeds in the box... ;)
