I love this movie so much... it shares so many insights about life. Right is Might - not might is right; A round table where no one sits at the head; Merlin telling your Authur 'be the hawk'; and Guienevere and Lancelot - 'you hurt someone, you are really hurting yourself more'.
saw it onscreen as a teen in 68 and as I walked out The Glen Theater on Ridge Road near Broadway in Gary,Indiana, I turned on my transistor radio and there was Richard Harris, the King in Camelot singing MacArthurs' Park!!! I was really weirded out. I absolutely love Richard Harris, he passed a few years back... such a talent and his album A Tramp Shining which featured MacArthurs' Park willl always rank as one of my favorites; it came out same time as the movie, featuring Jimmy Webb songs.
Really can't see Julie singing about lust....Vanessa was perfect. Am I am sure that the 1960's Medieval Days were closer to those days than the fake 50's days.
I'm sure Julie was loverly in this role on stage, but it wasn't a role for which a wide singing range was called for. Vanessa brought a fine voice and all her acting ability to this role. I love Julie Andrews, but if Vanessa didn't have Julie's singing chops, Julie doesn't have Vanessa's acting chops, and it's Vanessa's Guinevere that makes this movie.
@@azimisyauqieabdulwahab9401 I didn't say that. That is Redgrave's own singing voice. They just slowed the tempo of the song a bit to match Redgrave's singing ability. Only Franco Nero was dubbed by a Gene Merlino in that movie.
Iranaa In my mind I've never thought of Julie Andrews as lusty in any way. I don't think her portrayal of Guinivere is as good as Redgrave's. The role requires a sensuality that I don't feel when I see Andrew's interpretation of Guinivere.
This tells about Beltane. It is one of The Most Holiest Sabbat Wicca celebrates
Medieval days with the "Flower Power" of the 60's!
Like Ivanhoe
One of our family’s favorite musicals…❤❤❤

Agreed.
So true! Julie is lovely but Vanessa is sexy!

I love Julie Andrews, but she's too sweet to be Guinevere.
Where's Marni when you need her?
Why is the volume so low?
Okey... O-o you don't like Julie?
Fine, now I can go on with my life, thank you! :)
I love Julie Andrews. I also love that Vanessa Redgrave played this role in the movie. There, I said it.
Julie. yuck.
Julie? Yuck? I mean, I love Vanessa in this role, but ... Julie? Yuck? What sort of creature are you?
Dame Vanessa it's a movie version
Dame Julie it's a Broadway version
Bit harsh I think
