Notes like these are handy for when you can tell that, at present during recce, a corner LOOKS like you can hook your inside tire into, but there's always a chance that the cars ahead of you can dislodge something that, where you once thought it was clean, now has a large stone, or a drop that could end up bending the radiator - and in a hot rough climate like this, that means likely retirement. All from one corner you thought you could cut.
@@poplaurentiu4148 Imagine being the driver, who needs to process the pacenotes and the road's grip and roughness, which will determine the car's current physical state which has to be understood and handled throughout every one of those 25 minutes; predicting how the car will behave meters ahead to avoid doing things that can lead to unfixable mistakes; following the fastest line that offers more grip and allows to corner without having to reduce much speed, left-foot-braking to destabilize the rear axle to set the car for the exit of the corner, braking using the maximum braking power of the car but never locking the wheels nor ruining the traction in the slightest, etc. This ain't daily driving. This ain't about going fast. This is pushing to the absolute limits, as with most of motorsport. And taking the most out of the car on rally driving requires incomparable levels of concentration, as slight mistakes cost precious tenths of a second, and world-class drivers like those fight for tenths of a second per corner.
It's so much to take in, so much detail, better than 4 right into 3 left caution like with DR2.0 etc. Also he uses don't rather than don't cut to save confusion.
I swear rally co-drivers are a different breed. I can barely read a book in car on the driveway without feeling uneasy. These guys out there reading through a lengthy list of detailed notes and speaking them out loud in a comprehensible manner while going at high speeds on a narrow, bumpy, dirt road like it's an everyday job is fucking wild.
The ability to drive at this speed, on this surface, while processing the information coming from the co-driver, over such a long stage is just breathtaking to me
Wow... even as a lontime rally fan, I'm absolutely amazed. This is why they're some of the best drivers and co-drivers in the world. Keeping focus for 25 minutes and 35 km, not getting distracted by the helicopter, the fans, the photographers or your own mistakes, being able to read the notes and focus on hearing them despite them coming so quickly, while driving at your absolute best, feeling the grip and the forces, taking care of not only the steering wheel and pedals, but also the gear stick and the hybrid deployment, just wow. Plus the strong heat. I would have crashed so many times there :D And then, if you think back to the old days, where people had to do a bunch of long stages like this in the likes of Group B, with manual transmissions and stuff. Must have been even harder. It must be absolutely physically and mentally draining to do a stage like this one. Huge respect for the crews. I'm a big fan of Elfyn and Scott, hope they can get some wins soon. It's also amazing what the car can do, the suspension taking all the hard hits like nothing. Would be super cool if we could get a stage like this one in some really good rally game. I'd love it if I had to really drive by the notes. Maybe the upcoming WRC game from Codemasters? :)
Rallysimfans' RBR has about 400 different stages, including very long ones, and the RBR community developed a program to do your own recce (create your own pacenotes) for any stage. And then, it has the most realistic physics (NGP) that exist, far superior than WRC's and Dirt Rally's physics - according to real WRC drivers.
It is quite demanding sport, G force makes it even more psychically demanding. Tänak sayd few years back, that he usually loses 3-4 kg of weight per rally. It like high intensity gym.
@@slavplaysgames Right? After a 20 minute course in Dirt Rally 2 my brain would be mush, let alone my arms and legs being broken from fatigue. Compare how red Elfyn's face is from the start to the end!

God damn. Usually I can’t watch a video with out getting distracted. But this I sat still for the whole thing. It was alot of fun trying to follow their pace notes. I have stages over 8 mins in dr2 but 25 minutes is insane. Mad respect.
A few jaw-dropping moments: - The speed they carry before and through the right turn at 3:10 - That right then left turn at 5:15 - The jump/left turn combo at 8:03 Excited to keep watching. How many times do you think they blink in total throughout this stage? Just incredible. I'd love to see their live speed overlaid on the video.
Simplemente wooow son increíbles al poder conducir a esa velocidad y con esa presicion. Simplemente es wooow no tengo palabras. Un placer verlos correr y que vengan a México. Gracias gracias gracias por ello 🥰🤗🤗🤗
Truely skill's! So cool to get a pice of the action right there, spot on, in the seat with him! Big respect out to Evens! Huge thanks to FIA WRC for shareing this
It’s not just the driving, which is spectacular, but the fact he is processing the pace notes two corners ahead. These drivers brains operate on a completely different level to the average human being. And the codriver has to stay composed and focused, whatever is going on outside the car and whatever mistakes are made by the driver. The tone of his voice is like he’s just directing a mate to the shops. These guys are really something else.
Truly unbelieaveble performance by the driver and a co-driver as well. Such a difficult track, its just so amazing to watch, how awsome they are. Respect 🤘
one of my favorite stages in the whole championship. co-driver did an impressive job, clear and accurate, excellent timing, driver was r(e)ally focused, stellar job
what an absolute pleasure to watch, that was so game like it's uncanny... too much color in the game compared to the real life visual counterpart other than that so alike... full stage onboards are much better than highlights ;) thank you for showing.
The long and extremely difficult stages keeps the driver and the co-driver very focused. It becomes as if their brains are connected to the road and synchronizing with it, avoiding the endless hidden rocks, ditches and small trees almost on every corner. That stage is brutal and unmerciful, only the professional drivers, co-drivers, teams and amazingly built machines can go through it, well done.
This man amasses me. His head close to the steering wheel and always looks driving as though scared. Does he have time to brink? That speed is awesome. Scott Martin work is on another level. Reading and shouting those pace notes at that speed is phenomenal. And he does it effortlessly.
" NOT SO BAD " 😂 You badass Elfyn 😅 made me 😰 sweaty ... and co-driver Martin for sure, too ! Truly superbly Focussed, despite incoming Helicopter. Keep on smiling, making us laugh, with you both... all the way. CROESO Y CYMRU
I really miss those old-school WRC onboard camera shots. They used to make you feel like you were actually sitting in the back seat, checking out every little move the driver made. But now, it's more like you're chilling on the hood, just keeping an eye on the road.
This exhausted me just from watching it! Seriously! I don't understand why WRC isn't the most popular sport on TV! Just compare it to the snoozefest of the various kinds of football or basketball or whateverball. Rally is literally a life or death sport done at 100+ kph! What on fucking earth can be more entertaining than that? This is podracing!
Gosh idk how you'd maintain that for 25 minutes after a full day of driving. They're not just pilots, they're athletes! Maintaining that level of focus on the road and also listening to the calls. Wow. I am usually happy to finish a 15-minute stage. Also Elfyn Left me behind after the first two corners tbh. How does someone get that good at rally?
This is a great training adjunct to my WRC computer game. Co-pilot's timing of instructions means he has to keep his attention on both his notes and the road. One day this will be done on a driver's heads up display with diagrammatic overlays of the best line using A.I. in real time, and there won't be a need for a co-pilot.
The crew of such a car must have incredible composure... driving every meter of the route at the limit of adhesion, you can see that the driver maintains focus without blinking his eyes... shocking. Greetings to all drivers 😊
The "maybe don't" pace note is my new favorite thing. 😂
“Maybe Trim”
Also "late-ish 6 right" had me in stitches
@@mdo lmfao right "yea mate i have no idea when this corner actually stars but it is a 6 right"

the ability to keep focus and concentration ALONE for 25mins under this speed is extraordinary!
Also one of the last stages and he has to be mindful about his tyres. These drivers are insane
