I usually only comment once, but after watching and understanding the reasoning behind putting it back to stock, I have to say get your wife involved as much as possible,if she enjoys scouring swap meets…. Go to a ton, search for those hard to find parts together Have her decide on , not just the tins colors, but mirrors, bars, seat…etc…etc…it will truly be “her” scoot and you will both be blessed

I envision a time in the not-too-distant future when stock EVO Sportsters will become a sought-after item. A lot of the existing Sportys have been altered in one way or another. Corey, you are quite the gent for fixing up that stock EVO Sportster for you lady. God keep ya! Happy New Year 2023 to everybody! Ride safe!
Your Mrs. is a sweetheart and deserves any type of bike she wants. I was fortunate enough to meet her at the last weirdo camp-out, the day before the wedding. She gave me one of your stickers and we chatted very nicely for a little while. I'm happy that you are redeeming yourself after chopping that bike she asked you not to. Make it real nice for her Corey. She deserves it. Peace. Eric in Kissimmee.
I’m keeping my XLH883 pretty close to stock. I like the look,it’s dependable, the buckhorns are comfortable and I’m in no hurry to get anywhere faster than it can take me.
Always enjoy your videos. This one was a little different and deeper. It reminds me that we all have a story and we all need redemption. Little by little, piece our lives come together. Thanks for reminding me to look deep into redemption and the renewal that it brings.
I enjoyed the backstory, Tramp. This type content is rare on the interwebs... Honesty. I also think it's cool to see somebody on a video digging through the same box of bolts that I have dug through a few times before myself. Hellfighters is a cool place.... I felt that little "tail-wag" that the Tramp gave you to liven up your day! That will sure get your attention!! One last thing... you missed a good chance to do a good Tommy Chong impression at the start of the video!! "I'm in my van, man... and I gotta go to the can, man!" Keep 'em comin', Corey!
Glad to see I'm not the only one, I bought a bobed out 1979 xlh a few years ago and have been on a mission to save the bike and put it back to completely stock and have had fun doing it. God bless and ride safe.
My little sister loves her 883 Hugger sportster. She has ridden from Arkansas to Sturgis on numerous occasions with no problems. Y'all stay safe out there 🙏
I'm really glad I found this video. As of two years ago I'm riding a 1992 Sportster 883 5 speed. The title SAID 14,800+ 'original miles' & I tend to believe it because it runs so good & straight down the road but it had been left outside under a tarp for years so there's a LOT of aluminum oxidation (& oil leaks) going on that I still have to deal with. But Right before I stored it this year I noticed a noise in it when I ran it up in rpms (mildly) in like 2nd or 3rd gear that sounded like the bottom end was coming undone! But NOT a peep in neutral or when the clutch was pulled & I brought the rpms up around 2500-3000. I've been told I have shifter pawl or a shifter pawl bushing problem. It's cold here in Mi. so I will be tackling that end of it asap when spring hits. I might have questions about this later on as this is my first Harley... Take Care.
A stock evo 883 Sportster is one of the bikes I have always wanted. The only reason I don't have one is because I was a long legged 6'2''. I never felt like I could turn a corner without banging my knee with the handlebar. HAPPY NEW YEAR.
A lot of folks put parts together and ride the bike. But a bike built with heat felt purpose gives it soul. I'm so on board with you on this one. Kim's going to love her "new" bike.
Do what you want to do. Nobody here should criticize you for what you plan to do with your own motorcycle. Always looking forward to your videos and the next project.
Great story. It is kind of liking finding pieces of an old jigsaw puzzle you're trying to put back together. Each piece you find brings a sense of joy and the thrill of getting closer to the completion of your project. Good luck and keep the great video content flowing!
My picture did not come threw :( Shit ):I'm going to have to figue out why not and get it too you. I don't know, maybe you know someone repritable in my neck of the woods. I dont know. But since you know exactly how you would feel in my shoes. Isnt she going to be with sexy? And with those black bars i bought from you and her straight pipes wrapped black, Ooooo. Anyway HAPPY NEW YEAR, Angie
Call her Resurrection Mary. I've been wrenching on, building, and riding for 51yrs this year, and I enjoy your videos because you remind me of the men I called my brothers back in the late 70s and throughout the 80s, most of whom are no longer with us. I like and respect the fact that you appreciate old iron and are keeping it on the road. In my book, these new "PlastiGlides" have killed the original essence and spirit of what motorcycling once was, and the younger generations of riders are being screwed out of the otiginal experience. I've finally started a well deserved about a million mile restoration of my box stock 72 Electraglide I've had since 1980, and currently also have a 97 WideGlide to keep me in the wind while I'm doing it. Again, thanks for the videos, and may The Creator of All things Bless and Keep you and yours in the New Year.
Build how you want! As long as it doesn't cause any real harm to anyone (I'm not talking hurt feelings) it's a act of passion to rebuild a scooter. Goos luck finding all the pieces.
Love your honesty, nothing wrong with putting a bike back to the way it was born (at least close). Good luck with your journey. Just remember, a happy wife is a happy life! LOL
Well it can be harder to build back an older bike stock since choices are limited. Now, If your wife likes the pink... you know what you have to do brother! Happy wife, happy life, Oh and happy New Year to you both.
I love the handlebars and they look great on that bike. I realize lots of people think they look silly But you will regret getting rid of them. Same as going for a smaller tank.
I think your wife is lucky to have you. You can give her bike back to her and build it with your own hands. I can't wait to see the final build. Ride Safe
We all hate regrets, but it's nice to have a chance for a do over. If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy! My wife wants to learn to ride, but I think her driving on 4 wheels is a little sketchy, much less two. I'm starting a trike build out of a 1999 883 I picked up a while back and I'm going to let her putt around, locally, on that a little and see how it goes.
I have a '97 883 that I bought new sitting in the garage. This vid makes me want to get back on it and ride it a little bit. I rode that thing to Sturgis a couple of times when I was younger. I'm not so young anymore. 😀 Have an '02 Dyna that I ride most of the time.
Great video. Totally understandable. Hell fighters looks like a great place I passed it on my way down there but saw it to late, next time i will stop there. Happy Healthy New Year to you and Kim. Stay safe.
Definitely have to make it right for the better half 😂,,,, people don't understand why I keep my 78 sportster all original, not many left in factory specs. An hope your trip to W.V. went well, Happy New Year.
I'm "building" a stock 883 Sportster for my wife right now too. I just finished resurrecting an old Electraglide Standard that turned out to be a little big for my wife. I wanted another project and found a nice Sportster in good shape for the right price. My wife has claimed the Sportster, so it's not going to be the project I intend. I'm just going to put better lights on it, new tires, different risers so she can reach the bars better, and get it to run like it should. I'm trying to have her involved, but she works a lot more hours than I do, so she probably won't have much of a hand in it.
Great video Sir hope we start working on the Redemption Project on your channel time . Your very gifted at explaining the exploration of the older bikes .
i miss you two. ive been on the bottom of since fla camp out. i too have a " redemption" bike. my old Marauder. kinda like a Japanese sportster. i have more issues than the bike but it's I that the bike is redeeming me . it has been parked for 5 years now as i have struggled with physical injuries . im riding now and then on my black vulcan that Diesel affectionately calls " grille paint". i painted it with bbq grille paint . i got it for a song and it needed some tlc but i was able to make it roll reliably. vulcan is a good bike but that Suzuki.... i miss that Marauder. i bought it new in 1997. i think you saw it in one of my vids . the custom belt drive i made for it. we have 60k +miles together .still runs like new. just rubber and a fuel tank leak is holdin me up. fork seals and tires. and and to just keep it runnin , i put a spare plastic tank on side so i can start it every week. when money and body allow , i will get her done and ride out to see you guys! your sportster is coming along very nicely. stock is just fine.hope to see your girl on that. keep tha shiny side up!
Hell yea man i love my bone stock 01 sporty i have hardtailed many and put my hopped up 130 hp buell motor in a few but the pretty stock silver one i will never cut up. Good to see others have the same intentions.
Man I get it totally. My bet is you will find what you need to complete that bike. It may take a while but I will be interested in seeing what it becomes. Hell Fighters is really a cool place and I hope to ride my bike down the Natchez Trace this year and see it for my self. God bless.
Dude, You Have a shaggan wagon!!!!! How cool is that? Finding old parts can be a challenge for sure I tried to fix up an old Honda for my son I ended up using non-motorcycle parts lol.
man, that black 1980 superglide / FL clone reminds me of the '78 superglide angel and i will be working on soon. just finishing up the last of our moving then we'll be able to start getting the shop set up. once that's done we'll get to workin' on some of these projects that have fallen behind. God bless you guys and keep lookin' up, bill (edit) your reason for doing a stock build and the name of the bike are the perfect end to the story of that bike. now a new story can begin. a story about redemption.
It was nice to hear the story on both bikes man... And that was a huge part's house too... One piece at a time and will be alive again...REDEMPTION.....great name too... And that was a fun ride in the Van man lol... Well done brother💯
great Vid mate.. Happy New years & good job & ya gota look after the Miss's... your a good man Corey.. cheers from Down Under & keep Ya Knee's in Da Breeeezzzzeeeee......
Now that you have it going on, how does she like it? The story about the "why" of it is cool. It is strange the things wives get attached to. I love guns and motorcycles. I picked up an old beat up revolver that looked like hammered dog doo, cleaned it up a little and traded it to a friend, after I traded it, my wife told me, "that was the only pistol you ever had that I really liked", it took a few years but eventually I got it back and now she has it again. I completely understand your thoughts on this bike. Great video. I only wish she would get an idea about a motorcycle like that. I guess I need to count the blessings I have.
Great idea... I bought a 1995 883 from a guy who put drag pipes on it. They really sucked and the motor didn't run toogood. Found a set of mufflers and head pipes.mufflers came from a softail. Then went 8nto the carb. It was way too rich, even for the drag pipes. Ithink it still needs a leaner slowjet but itis runningbetter and better. The lighting was all subdued, so changing all that. Basically it is becoming an all stock bike which is more comfortable, quieter, andsafer to ride. Similar to what you are doing. I wish there was a place like Hellfighters near me. They would get a lot of my wages.
Hey brother,I enjoy the channel. I just thought I’d let you know that since you are doing a stock 883 build that I happen to have a set of 2016 black sportster iron 883 cylinders and pistons with about 500 hundred miles on them . I put the miles on myself when it was brand new in 2016 and then did the Hammer Preformance 1275 big bore kit . At any rate if you are interested in them well I’d be happy to donate them to you for whatever ever it costs to ship them to you. Let me know and be safe enjoy the ride my friend
Look at you. And I’m here in NJ trying to get a machine shop to hone my shovel cylinders so I can rebuild the top-end of my 1970 Electra Glide. So far 3 months and nadda. You know of a good machine shop in TX? The Ole Skool mechanics are dying faster than any youngsters can get up to speed. Thanks for posting and Happy New Year.
Not off hand. But checkout bmikarts.com. They have a bunch of NOS harley parts for good prices. I even saw a pair of shovel cylinders on there. For 100 bucks. www.bmikarts.com/Front-Rear-Cylinder-Set-For-Harley-Davidson-1200cc-Shovelhead-1966-79_p_7177.html
I've heard "Happy Wife, Happy Life" I think the Redemption bike is a good way to stock up some brownie points. Ya never know when you're gonna need em...
I have a pair of 883’s 883r and a plain black. Excellent bikes for back roads. I’m thinking of getting a1275 hammer kit on the black one The r I’m leaving stock
With a red color u can call that bike a Red Dead Redemption! I love triangle frames.. how they looks.. but not ready to ride'em everywhere. So i will left my rigid 1200 as it is. It's still a very interesting bike. But good amount of options depending on personal priorities is a good thing too.
My Sportster is twenty-five years old and it is my newest motorcycle. The previous owner put louder pipes on it but otherwise it is completely stock. I have almost 400,000 trouble-free miles on her. I ride all the nice backroads we have in Florida that smell wonderful when the orange blossoms are in bloom when they are we have the sweetest smelling are on Earth.
My 99 Softail Custom is completely stock accept for the drag pipes, the K&N air box, and a lot of chrome from Harley. A 60 spoke from wheel, a slotted rear wheel, Chrome fork sliders, wheel cylinders, swing arm, custom Harley chrome mirrors, and a few other things I have probably forgotten. That was all done by the first owner who only put 4,000 miles on it. Stock Harleys are rare as hens teeth. When I sold my 84 Sportster XLCH it was mostly stock. The only comment I get is, wow, an unmolested Softail. I think about changing this or that sometimes, but like it just the way it is. Not that I do not like customized bikes, but why would you touch up the Mona Lisa. Oh, by the way, how do you like the buckhorn bars. I had them on my Sportster and on my Softie also. I have found them to be very comfortable. They fit me perfectly.
Not trying to be a beggar, I love your tenacity man, I do well with compliments either, but you are a rock star. I'd love to meet you sometime. I'm coming through Iowa and Illinois this spring on the Sporty, trying to plan my very first trip on my sporty, need a bigger tank, a sissy bar and I'd love to simply switch headlights from the handlebars to the forks. 3 months left lol. I can't wait to see how this bike turns out for you, I love SPORTYS, I see them all the time around here $2-3k low miles, lots of potential, but I'm a part time pastor and I gotta focus on that, but I would love to get one and just start wrenching IMMEDIATELY, love u Cory (Corey?) Brother!
I like this project! I own a 02 sportster which I made stock also 😁you will need anothet license plate bracket, the upright one instead of the laydown one 😜
The FXE is so much better the way it’s been swapped with the FL front end, and it’s the right color with the overall right look..Everyone that loves a modern Road King would see where the look came from!
I'm looking for a set of engine cases for a cone shovel but the ones ive found have the o-ring lip broken on the primary side I'd really like to find a belt drive for it bc it leaks oil bad and I gotta do a new oil pump bc I've rebuilt the factory one but it still fills the case full of oil after it sets for a day or two
I use a variety of cameras for various scenarios. My Canon Vixia G20 for in the shop. Gopro hero 8 for out and about and b-roll on the road. A gopro hero 3 for motovlogs. Periodically I use my phone. And I use Adobe Premeire Elements for my editing software.
SaddleTramp, I'm a sportster guy myself owned 3 of then one was ironhead...wanted to ask you what you think about that Yamaha bolts? alot of people think it's more of a sportster then the new maxrev sportster
Hey man, you never ever have to explain yourself at all. There is of course an exception to this statement: Except when you are about to be a danger to yourself or to others. And building a Sportster back into it's original appearance is everything but dangerous. I personally however would not avoid improvements, so I'd make it a Resto-mod. Looks factory, but only when you look close, the connoisseur only will notice the newer and far better brakes I'd mount, and more improvements like Hyperpro progressive springs in the front-fork, progressive shocks on the back, electronic ignition, so no more points ignition, basically everything barely visible, but all together improving the ride, safety, fuel economy and yet have it look like it is all original. But that's what I would do. I am of course all gonna leave this up 2 U.
My first motorcycle was a 89 883 Hugger! Lol…I thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread. Until I really got into riding. Going down the freeway at 75mph that thing shook so much it makes your shake! In other words I couldn’t see that great. Besides that in any kind of strong wind man that thing just sucked. I think they’d be great around town bikes, but definitely not on freeway or any kind of long distance. I’ve went through many different bikes and brands. I’m now riding a Gold Wing 1800cc Six Cylinder. That allows me to do the kind of super long distance riding I enjoy. I’ve done it on lesser bike but at detriment to my back/body!!
I have a question for anyone here who might be able to help. So my gas tank on my 2000 sportster 1200 is leaking gas. I drained the tank and took it off and I couldn’t see any cracks. Put it back together and after awhile it started leaking again. It seems to only leak while parked. Any advice on what I should do? Been thinking of jb tank weld, is it worth it?
I usually only comment once, but after watching and understanding the reasoning behind putting it back to stock, I have to say get your wife involved as much as possible,if she enjoys scouring swap meets…. Go to a ton, search for those hard to find parts together

i miss you two. ive been on the bottom of since fla camp out. i too have a " redemption" bike. my old Marauder. kinda like a Japanese sportster. i have more issues than the bike but it's I that the bike is redeeming me . it has been parked for 5 years now as i have struggled with physical injuries . im riding now and then on my black vulcan that Diesel affectionately calls " grille paint". i painted it with bbq grille paint . i got it for a song and it needed some tlc but i was able to make it roll reliably. vulcan is a good bike but that Suzuki.... i miss that Marauder. i bought it new in 1997. i think you saw it in one of my vids . the custom belt drive i made for it. we have 60k +miles together .still runs like new. just rubber and a fuel tank leak is holdin me up. fork seals and tires. and and to just keep it runnin , i put a spare plastic tank on side so i can start it every week. when money and body allow , i will get her done and ride out to see you guys! your sportster is coming along very nicely. stock is just fine.hope to see your girl on that. keep tha shiny side up!
It would be cool to see you, Kevin
Hell yea man i love my bone stock 01 sporty i have hardtailed many and put my hopped up 130 hp buell motor in a few but the pretty stock silver one i will never cut up. Good to see others have the same intentions.
Man I get it totally. My bet is you will find what you need to complete that bike. It may take a while but I will be interested in seeing what it becomes. Hell Fighters is really a cool place and I hope to ride my bike down the Natchez Trace this year and see it for my self. God bless.
You should check it out.
Picked up my 79 ironhead for my chopper build today. Keep up the great vids
Right on!
Happy New Year Cory & Mrs. Tramp. 🥳
Diggin' the scene with a gangster lean.
Kool van!
Lol. Love that song!
Happy New Year🎉🎊🙏🏻👍🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💯
Hey, Mike! Happy New Year to you as well!
Dude, You Have a shaggan wagon!!!!! How cool is that? Finding old parts can be a challenge for sure I tried to fix up an old Honda for my son I ended up using non-motorcycle parts lol.
I've hardly driven my truck ever since I brought this beast home.
man, that black 1980 superglide / FL clone reminds me of the '78 superglide angel and i will be working on soon. just finishing up the last of our moving then we'll be able to start getting the shop set up. once that's done we'll get to workin' on some of these projects that have fallen behind. God bless you guys and keep lookin' up,
bill
(edit) your reason for doing a stock build and the name of the bike are the perfect end to the story of that bike. now a new story can begin. a story about redemption.
Hey Bill. Thanks for the visit. Yeah, I figured the name was pretty fitting.
It was nice to hear the story on both bikes man... And that was a huge part's house too... One piece at a time and will be alive again...REDEMPTION.....great name too... And that was a fun ride in the Van man lol... Well done brother💯
Thanks, Man! Lol. Always good to see you. I hear you're going down to Lake Charles in March.
@@SaddleTrampTV sure thinking about it brother💯
@@OZARKSHDRIDERS See you there if you do.
@@SaddleTrampTV sounds great man... I've been wanting to meet up with you for a while now...cant wait💯

Thank you, Trev.
Had a Stock 1995 Sportster, 883, for couple yrs. Ran really good, nice and lightweight, quick on the throttle, sat a little low, small windshield. 😔😔
Build is coming along nice good to see the Van Man
Lol... Thanks Andy! Always good to see you.
Thanks, man. I appreciate that. But I've already got everything I need.
If you built it, they will come. Aliens, ghost's. Idono, have a happy 2023. Rock on
We went to Hellfighters a while back. There used parts section. Holy Smokes! I recognize that highway. Lol
Hwy 11 the whole way.
@SaddleTrampTV Was talking about 49 going through Wiggins. Lol
@@southernstyle067 Gotcha
@SaddleTrampTV Thank you. Will do. Tired of asking this joker to get his job done.
I like that style air cleaner too. Good call 💪
Much love yall
Thanks!
Always enjoy your video’s and make that woman happy one way or another!
Thank you, I will
Resurrection A great auto restoring word, Great videos by the way five stars !
Thanks!
Hey Corey I like your Redemption bike, hope when you finish it looks sweet.....
I hope so too!
Gotta remember, Happy wife Happy life !!! I can understand the Redemption.
I've heard "Happy Wife, Happy Life" I think the Redemption bike is a good way to stock up some brownie points. Ya never know when you're gonna need em...
Lol... Yeah I guess so.
Happy new years
You too!!
Hope you keep the rubber side down after your slip on the road haha. happy new year to both of you
I have a pair of 883’s
883r and a plain black. Excellent bikes for back roads. I’m thinking of getting a1275 hammer kit on the black one
The r I’m leaving stock
With a red color u can call that bike a Red Dead Redemption! I love triangle frames.. how they looks.. but not ready to ride'em everywhere.
So i will left my rigid 1200 as it is. It's still a very interesting bike. But good amount of options depending on personal priorities is a good thing too.
Corey, Thanks for Sharing!
Thank you for being here!
Maybe 40 000 !?😮
@2:46.. wow amazing 🤩🤩.. I'm going to look up on the website and order stuff.. I'll tell them saddle tramp sent me
Right on!
I had a 94 sporty 1200 I customized raked ,forward controls, lowered, the bike was fast, miss it but I had to sell it to built my big twin chopper.
I hear ya
I can dig em. They work great on the tramp.
Happy new years! I'm watching now brother. I still need a sporty tank for my 20' I've found a few, nothing worth buying, if u see anything lmk.
Great upload! Always enjoy your videos!
Thanks, man!
I like this project! I own a 02 sportster which I made stock also 😁you will need anothet license plate bracket, the upright one instead of the laydown one 😜
Got two of them.
The FXE is so much better the way it’s been swapped with the FL front end, and it’s the right color with the overall right look..Everyone that loves a modern Road King would see where the look came from!
Yep. Know what you mean.
Makes plenty of sense to put it back together stock. Especially since Harley has moved on to the modern sportster now.
I got a 1991 883 Sportster with the peanut tank on it oh its a 5 speed .My bike is for the most part is all stock. I did change the bares.
That's the problem with my old shovelhead when I do find the parts I need to build another engine it's so costly it's not funny
I'm looking for a set of engine cases for a cone shovel but the ones ive found have the o-ring lip broken on the primary side I'd really like to find a belt drive for it bc it leaks oil bad and I gotta do a new oil pump bc I've rebuilt the factory one but it still fills the case full of oil after it sets for a day or two
Ah, a redemption motorcycle, what a cool story; follow y'alls heart and the parts will find you, even the color scheme!
We really enjoy your videos.
What camera do you use & how do you edit your videos? Thanks, David w/ D&M Adventures.
Because its a fantastic machine
Any idea where I can find a list of motorcycle graveyards????? West Virginia doesn't seem to have any. Thanks.
I haven't any idea.
@@SaddleTrampTV Thanks. Like your vids. Good luck with the sporty.
Happy Sunday ya'al ✊
SaddleTramp, I'm a sportster guy myself owned 3 of then one was ironhead...wanted to ask you what you think about that Yamaha bolts? alot of people think it's more of a sportster then the new maxrev sportster
Never rode one, but yeah. They certainly have the look.
Those are some good ideas, man. Thanks for the input.
Yeah those things are a product of an era. They were designed to cruise at 55 to 60. At 70 they would scream at 4000 rpm with the stock gearing.
Awesomeness I am watching this new video…😊
Good deal!
How did your trip up north go ? Did you drive the van ? Still have the shop manual for your van ...
We stayed home. Didn't want to get caught in the blizzard that was happening.
Im new subscriber... And gotta say I'm enjoying so far..
Right on! Welcome, Amigo!
Great content 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you 🙌
Wish I had seen sooner I have 883 top end I'd give you
Happy New year's 👍👍
Thank you, Shane! Back at ya!
I ride a low mileage '95 883 XLH in that same red color. Dead stock. Wouldn't have it any other way.
You failed to mention where the leak is located is it along the bottom or the mounts or around the petcock...or you have no idea...
@@stevenbonnesen5988 it’s hard for me to tell exactly but it looks close to around rear mount
I would just get another gas tank. But that's just me.
@@SaddleTrampTV I’m attached to the look of this one man. It’s the big oversized one with the curve and dash on it . Really makes the bike stand out
