Those Curtis P40's were one of the unsung hero's of WWII, they were available at the start of the war and served all through the war in all theaters and flown by all allied nations. It was not the fastest, did not climb the fastest nor had the highest service ceiling but it was, AVAILABLE in large numbers, rugged, easy to maintain, one of the fastest roll rates of the fighters and held the line until more capable fighters showed up !!!
