Barbie absolutely BROKE the Shapiro family.......and I'm here for it. LOL.
❤😂❤
I love it, Ben is getting dragged 😂😂😂😂
Nobody is broken by a generic feminist move that attaches itself to a children's toy brand . The fact that a bunch of grown ass women are acting like this kid's movie is some kind of victory is sad.

Its rated pg13 for a reason Abigail. Anybody who takes young children and gets upset just isn't paying attention
@@Dream-Eternal87 First of all, the revenue speaks for itself. That's why the businessmen budged.
Second of all, writers budged because the theme of this movie had a story that needed telling, target audience be damned. A movie that gets people to reflect this much on the human condition is what makes movies great.
If you want a barbie movie to take your kids to, then rent Barbie the Pearl Princess from your local library.
Oh Rachel, sooooo many movies are PG 13 and are for kids. That's honestly the most pathetic attempt at deflection I've ever read.
Cus a 13 year old isn’t a child?
The previews were VERY misleading.
@@hashtagfilm so I guess films like The Ring, Insidious, Ouija Orgin of Evil, The Bourne Identity to name a few which are PG-13 must be for kids. A PG -13 is a warning and people can't just assume that if one PG-13 film is lighter then all the rest must be. Then it is completely on the parents for not doing their research. Same with an R rating films like Annabelle and The Wolf of Wall Street are both R rated but one is clearly more severe then the other in terms of content even though they have the same rating. Not to mention if those parents actually paid attention to those first two Barbie trailers you would quickly realize its not for kids. The first trailer parodies Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film 2001 A Space Odyssey which no kid would get and the following trailer has tons of sexual innuendos.

It's a... Barbie movie. The doll that little girls aka kids, play with.
Correct!
It was marketed as a movie for everybody. Now that people have actually seen it, it's become apparent it's not for kids (or men). The problem is people already took their children, girlfriends, and wives to see it. The damage has already been done.

Lmao love how Abby and Ben sh*t their pants over Barbie Land having no children and Kens having no rights. IT'S AN IMAGINARY LOCATION that is just representing how most of us played with Barbies as kids! I did not own any Ken dolls, and if I did, they wouldn't have had much significance. And I'm pretty sure there weren't many baby Barbie dolls. But I guess I was just a woke, man-hating, anti-family 6-year-old by not pretending my dolls were housewives 😂😂

What a load of malarkey, you're talking nonsense, the Barbie movie was designed for one purpose: to belittle men as much as humanely possible.
Abby wouldn't even be allowed to have a youtube channel today if it wasn't for the feminists of the past.
Gaslighting detected
I'm struggling to find the point of this comment lol
"You wouldnt be here to comment if youtube wasnt created"
like, yes genius, thats how that works
You should read some history before you talk. Women were allowed to and did do plenty of things. The hiragana characters in Japanese were literally created by women for women, for example. Not to mention that there were plenty of women who didn't want to be mothers and entered convents who then dedicated their lives to intellectual or humanitarian pursuits.
Made a fake anonymous account for that comment huh? I wonder what that says about it’s context 👍🏻

Abby doesn’t realize that not everyone had Ken dolls growing up. Not everyone has rich parents they continue to mooch off of into adulthood. No one I know had Ken because we didn’t have an endless amount of resources to buy toys. We all had Barbies, and not many of them.

@@anastasia.noelle last I checked you needed money to buy dolls. Not everyone has endless money. Abby is very out of touch because she has her lifestyle funded by her family.
I don’t think you understand what Barbie is. Barbie is supposed to be EVERYTHING, that’s what the doll is about. That’s why in Barbieland the Barbie’s are well, everything. And Ken is just ken, he goes with Barbie. It’s not really woke it’s just what Barbie is

Incorrect. Literally every woman does because human beings are animals with millions of years of biological evolution. You are repressing it just as much as a priest is repressing his urge to procreate. The only difference is the priest admits that's what he's doing.
@@Shockguey A woman tells you she doesn't want to be a mom and you accuse her of repressing it? That's actually insane, completely unhinged, and vile to me.

I loved it. Barbie was a huge part of my childhood. Got my first Barbie on my 7th birthday in 1959. This movie was such a trip down memory lane. I spent so many hours as a child making furniture, sewing curtains, sewing clothes, setting up a church and dressing all the dolls up on Sunday, preaching a little sermon to them, "teaching" them in "school". I had the dream kitchen and I created alternative Barbieland that was remarkably similar to the one in the movie. Oh, and I still have my original and several dozen more.
❤
Hahahaha, pathetic, this movie was a pink mess, misandrist, propaganda movie which was made with only one objective in mind: to mock, belittle and ridicule men as much as possible and to indoctrinate little girls into hating all men.
Did she genuinely believe this was a movie for children? It's rated PG-13 and is largely a satirical piece mocking barbie stereotypes and values, highlighting how gender discrimination can affect both male and female
And yet only the Ken's are portrayed as the bad guys.
Also yeah no shit it's PG13. It should not be given it's for a little girl's brand of toys. Transformers had the same problem.
Like they just ignore ratings!!!
You’re shocked that she needed to tell people this movie isn’t for kids and yet I have multiple friends who proudly took their small children to see it.
@@annajohnson5053 that's what the PG in PG13 stands for, parental guidance. If you're a half educated adult who responsibly raises children, you can answer and explain questions that may arise.

13:52 How twisted is Abby’s mindset, if that’s what she took from that moment in the movie? It wasn’t an attack on motherhood; it was a celebration of all the sacrifices, hard work & turmoil mothers go through out of love for their children.
Everything in the speech can be just as equally applied to men. That's how broad the speech was.
I don't know where you got that it was specifically meant for mothers.
@@Shockguey Exactly
You know republicans always look for a negative
If you surround yourself with faith, family, and community, you put yourself in a box that is just as isolating and naive as barbieland. 🤦♀️ You can't see the greater whole in your box. But yes, the real world out there has these issues. I encounter it all the time in the workplace. I honestly think she missed the entire point of this film. 🤷♀️
@amandamorse2392 the femininity segment was truly something. "You have to basically be a subservient housewife and breeding machine to a domineering husband to be truly feminine!"
Ah yes being a trophy wife is so fulfilling... which is why childfree women viscerally upset or frighten... or when nonmarried women make ya seethe 😂
Nah, Barbie and Ken DO have the same plot. So does the mother from the real world. At the end of the movie they realize that they don't have to feel bad for existing in a world that isn't perfect or being in a place where they aren't perfect. There's literally nothing special about "stereotypical barbie" or "beach ken", but now they don't need to have permission to exist. They dont have to be defined by the outside world or material things or achievements or other people. They can just be. Not even to be "whatever they want to be". They can just be. And that's just as okay as anything else. The real world not being perfect is exactly why Barbie decides to live in the real world, because she doesn't need to be anything of note to make a difference or live a good life, and that's just the best place to do it.
Also if you want to know what the heck writers are doing localscriptman is a really funny RUclipsr that breaks writing down in only a few minutes

Say you don't understand what good filmmaking without saying you don't know what good filmmaking is.
I feel like conservatives are trying so hard to just hate on this movie. I think it was a beautiful social commentary that benefitted both MEN and WOMEN. Under the matriarchy in Barbieland, the Kens felt like they had no purpose but to just "be there" which is why they took power and turned it into a "patriarchy" and it also strongly hurt the Barbies too (although the Kens did do more damage to the Barbies then the Barbie's did to kens) In the end it shows that Ken just needed a feeling of identity that didn't surround Barbie. And for Barbie herself, she wanted to go to the real world to live the real human experience of being a woman, whether that is being a mother or being in the workforce. She also realized that life is HARD, life is full of EMOTIONS. It's all an allegory to a girl growing up and becoming a woman. But I think the movie honestly viewed MOTHERHOOD in such a beautiful light and I don't understand how conservatives overlooked that. Especially during the montage near the end. This movie has a huge amount of satire, so not everything is supposed to be taken super seriously. It's so ridiculous that women's empowerment is now woke. I don't even know how this is manhating when the Barbies literally help the Kens find an identity. The end message is literally that both matriarchy and patriarchy don't work. Also just because we live in a male dominated society doesn't mean that the human experience isn't worth living for. Barbies desire to be in the real world stems from the idea that she doesn't want to live in an artificial world and she wants to be able to experience the emotions and changes a human being goes through. It's not that hard to understand. This entire review is so biased and ridiculous lol. Did you miss the part where America Ferrera talks about how women are meaningful as just mothers, in the workforce, or even both. Did you miss the literal montage at the end of the daughters and mothers? Like be so fr.
Couldn't have said it better myself

I absolutely loved this movie ❤😂 ❤ it was satire at its finest and basically the theme throughout was how women try to so hard to conform to a patriarchal society when it is basically impossible. It was goofy and outrageous and downright hilarious. I expected to be entertained and I got that and it even had some depth at the same time. Not everyone's cup of tea I guess, but I thought it was fantastic. It's not a kid's movie. I don't think small children would understand the plot.
😅 I think people will miss the last comment because they've never seen stuff like Robot Chicken or other childhood media centric satires...that are pg 13
It's accidental satire. It's THE ROOM of feminism.

Satirical huh? I’m sure you’d say the same thing if a movie painted all women as evil man hating greedy manipulative and sex hungry extremists hell bent on oppressing men? Oh no? Yeah I didn’t think so. Y’all are so crazed with hating men and anything even remotely traditional you’ll stage protests riots and attempt to cancel anyone who doesn’t perfectly toe the left wing political line. Comedian politician actor it doesn’t matter if said person isn’t fully on board with liberalism you try to ruin their whole existence imprison or bankrupt them. So please my dear spare me the it’s a satire nonsense. If this was a conservative film that attacked women black folks the lgbt community or any other group you support like this you’d ask the director be brought up on war crimes charges not be sitting here parsing levels of seriousness or lack there of.
Why is a conservative woman giving her opinions on stuff? Shouldn't a man be doing this video?
I saw barbie. I loved it. As well as my girls. And when it comes as blu-ray, ill be buying it. People are way too serious. And that "feminist utopia" where barbies rules and Kens are in the sidelines... That's EXACTLY how girls play with these dolls. Ken is always just standing there, while the Barbies are doing stuff. Simple.
You're being way too strict and assuming. Loosen up.
The fact is Barbie used to be a toy for girls but now it's a propaganda machine for toxic feminists who don't even know about the foundation of real feminism, their whole message is that men are useless and not needed, this movie is all about that message. Anyone who can't see this message is lying to him/her self. It's sad that a concept of a toy meant for innocent kids is being used for this.

This literally isnt a kids movie though
Tons of moms were taking their daughters to it. I agree its not wise, but that's what was happening. The general public is treating it like a kids movie even though its not. That's why she's treating it that way.
You cannot market a literal Barbie movie & say it’s not for kids. Barbie is literally children targeted??? Margot Robbie even said it was for everyone to watch.
@rhamlet5290 Okay, that’s not how that works & both of those things can’t be true at once. Either it’s a movie for kids (even tho Margot Robbie herself said it was for everyone) or it’s not and kids can’t watch it…?
@rhamlet5290 Again, it doesn’t work like that.
Barbie is literally a child’s character, marketed to little girls to be exact. How can a Barbie movie not be for kids? Where in the history of child characters have they ever done that? I think I’m going to listen to the actual makers of the movie than some internet random who just likes to make incomprehensible comparisons. If Margot Robbie said the movie was for everyone, that includes children. It was not said to be exclusive to adults so therefore, it’s not. You’re trying to make an excuse for why the movie had a bunch of political implications for a child based movie….
The theater I saw Barbie in was filled with teenage boys, I kid you not. They love it and apparently some see it as a cult following for them the way my little ponies (bronies) was. I personally liked the movie and watching it with a big group.
Yep I'm a guy and loved it. Also saw many other guys there. Some even husbands with their wives. It was heartwarming
Wtf am I reading.💀🤦🤦🤦🤦
Wtf.🤦🤦🤦
The movie isn't woke. Woke is a way of saying subversively political, ie writers looking for social brownie points. Barbie is OVERTLY political. It addresses the issues it presents head on without any kind of obfuscation. Barbie isn't woke, it's left, and non apologetic about it. It doesn't hide what it is, and it's a better film for it.
It obviously means certain kinds of people can't stomach it. And that's ok. But it doesn't make it bad at all.
The criticism of the incredibly in-depth work on the set of Barbieland confuses the hell out of me. Nobody else shares this opinion; how good the practical effects are is one of the most talked about aspects of the film.

Barbie from the very beginning was a feminist concept teaching girls they could be anything the want to be & had been inclusive for decades. The movie wasn’t at all male bashing, was very relatable & was hilarious. Conservatives are extremely sensitive and look for negativity where there isn’t any and end up missing the bigger point. Men were actually portrayed very well in this movie if you actually had a brain you’d see that. That it’s made clear that men themselves aren’t the issue and that they can be redeemed & we can live together peacefully.
It was totally man bashing and Barbie was never remotely feminist, that's Mattel spin. They used to bring out dolls like Ken president and first lady Barbie and Ken pilot and Flight attendant Barbie amnd had Barbie say "math class is hard"
@@poocrayon4588 no. It has always been feminist. The entire concept of having a little girl aspire to have a career at all rather than play with baby dolls and dream of being a mother.. is feminist. The idea that a woman can do anything a man can do.. is feminist. People clearly just never really understood the concept of Barbie or it’s messaging. & I notice the majority of the ppl having an issue all look the same. It’s very telling, & even more telling when they express what they thought the movie was going to be.

Abigail is so angry in this video lol When she starts ranting about women in boxes I giggled a little bit. Religious people are notorious for their judgmental attitudes and shame of others women especially if they don't adhere to the religious roles they themselves put onto others. That monologue was actually ok just because it had spoke to only a fraction of what women go through when it comes to the hypocrisy that society puts on to others. When it comes to. Ken and Barbie. I never played mother-hood with them. I even had some Barbies have a relationships with one another. But Ken was like a best friend or like sometimes a bf to one of my Barbies when I would change their story lines. But never motherhood. The go ask your mother was actually so funny to me because yeah my mother was raised Christian but hated being a mother. She really wasn't ment for it and I'm totally okay with that knowledge. That's why we shouldn't put pressure on girls when they're young to become mothers when they're older.
She’s desperately trying to control how others live. Begging others not to allow their children to see this 😂😂😂😂😂
Abby needs to get off her horse. How about she parent her kids and let’s others do the same. God, she is fucking miserable.
I believe Jesus Christ exists, died for my sins, rose again and through His grace, forgives me constantly for my sins when I ask. MY GOD only has a position of unconditional love for ALL of us He has never asked me to do anything other than to love others the same way HE loves me. That's it. So please know all people who claim Christianity do not fall under the same beliefs. I don't believe we are called to go after those who differ from us beyond prayer and unconditional love. ONLY GOD can change hearts and minds and the only one who knows exactly what should and should not be. I prefer to leave it in His PERFECT hands and continue to do what He has called me to do and that is to love unconditionally.

Abby what does woke mean
Means things they don't like. Lol.

Probably something spooky
Say you don't understand satire without saying you don't understand satire.
I don’t get how femininity is taking care of others and being dependable? Obviously those are important traits for women but i think they’re important for everyone. If a man were doing those things would it be considered feminine then to?
@@maddiesenator5491Exactly.

Conservative obsession with 'woke' is so interesting, I couldn't imagine my life being conditioned by this vague concept. To each their own!
Life without rules is meaningless, they are what guide us in living in harmony with each other, the reason why normal people hate "woke" ideologies is because they are forced down our throats which is absurd can't they leave the only form of escapism we have which is movies alone? This is one of the reasons why Hollywood is crushing down you can't force normal people to watch what they don't want to
Calling Jews conservative is like calling KKK members progressive
You sound like the obsessed, conditioned one.
Woke isn't vague, but your lack of a spine definitely separates you from what Conservatives are.
Woke = 🧌
Woke initially was in reference to seeing everything in the lens of racism against blacks. We were encouraged by liberals to see everything in that lens.
@@johncampbell5190 but the definition has changed over time
Exactly, it's quite the opposite women are adopting masculine energy and the feminine energy that the world needs and that makes women so special is sad to observe. Thanks for pointing that out. Gives me hope when there's still a few who speak sense, cause you can't speak against the pushed narratives these days. So sad to see society eat up the programming so easily.
"If you are beautiful to your husband, you are beautiful." Way to be a sheep Abby, for heaven's sake think for yourself. Why does being a conservative mean that you believe your self-esteem must come from the approval of a man? I don't agree with that.
I haven't seen the movie yet and will be watching it tomorrow. But it's clear so many people on the right miss the entire point and the mark lol.
It’s not that political compared to other films I’ve seen, even...
@@melodyscorpion6606 how is a movie that focuses on the patriarchy for a majority of it not political? It's impossible to be a woman? That's so ridiculous! Most of the beauty standards in our society are made and enforced by women.
Lol I don’t think you watched this movie when you did this review. “Empty shallowness of femininity, which could be appropriate by men” is literally a plot point of the movie and is pointed out. Same with the “men having nothing to do in barbieland” when they actually do prior to them taking over there’s a scene of this. I didn’t Ike the movie fr but I remember the plot points. Math ain’t mathing in this review
😂😂😂 you went to see the movie but formed a negative and biased opinion before even seeing it. This movie is so great for young girls and woman that are constantly told it’s a Ken’s world out there. So uplifting, promoting self worth and confidence. And all you can take out from this movie is the typical conservative talking points. Sad that you never either understood or tried to see the real message and the good in this movie. Most prob you didn’t even get a lot of the humor or the references. I suggest you watch it again and clear your mind before you do that.
I’m not a conservative and I was expecting to love the film. I was very disappointed when I watched, was trying to find the words to vocalize my problem with the film. I agree with EVERYTHING you said in the first part, great insights
Well the movie is now the biggest money maker of the year. The second time I saw this movie the full house applauded after the movie and I have heard other people say the same thing. Seems like hundreds of millions of people have found this movie very watchable and it seems cancel culture is not as strong as the right wants it to be.
Great review, but had to turn the sound off to enjoy.

You lost me at woke, which pertains to awareness of racial injustice. You can't just call everything you don't like woke. It's embarrassing.
Honestly t think you missed the point of the movie. You can be what ever you want to be, period. Also the whole monologue of America Ferrera character applied to conservative views. Like constantly saying things like been a mother is fully fulfilling and kinda shamed people when that mom share their struggles as mothers. Also this is not a kids movie it’s PG-13
it's so funny seeing conservatives and overly religious people having a meltdown over this movie
I think Abby will be delighted to know that at the ripe age of 7, my Barbie was going down on other Barbies, with ken hardly ever even being played with.
$350,000,000 in revenue suggests you're not representative of the real world...
Thats nothing considering the inflation nowadays

Abby’s such a repressed grifter. She claims to hate the movie so much, yet she got dressed in pink to go watch it opening weekend.
She did say she wanted to like the movie. But ended up with a different opinion.
@@randomnessunleashed12that’s not true. Her Instagram stories tell a different story. She was complaining about the movie walking in to the theater before it even began
Funny movie but every movie has a political agenda. Especially Hollywood.
Never saw someone work so hard to miss a point.
i clicked on this thinking i would disagree with you but i actually agree. i actually really enjoyed the movie and had fun watching it. but the storylines didn’t match up and then barbie chose to be in the “terrible real world”. and then everything just goes back to their normal in barbie world. little confusing
i do think your conservative background affects your view on the no children aspect/ man- woman dynamic. i didn’t see as much of an issue with this since i am not conservative. i do think the movie did a good job portraying what women feel we “need” to be. the thin but not too thin, funny but not outspoken. that’s a real dichotomy women have to navigate every day. religious or not, every women and little girl judges themselves and compares themselves to what society “wants” and i’m glad that was highlighted, despite you not seeing it as accurate
They dress and get ready for other women....
Agree with you. Horrible! Too bad, I was really looking forward to watching it, and it was such a let down.
Is this a comedy video?
The messaging of the movie is so muddy it teaches the opposite lesson it wants.
Hey girl I’m impressed by how intelligent you are. When I saw this movie I only found it kind of boring but without knowing why. The fallowing days I reflected on the reasons but I only came to probably less than a quarter of those you give, which I not only happen to agree with, but I also recognize of a more insightful view than any article written by any supposedly expert critic that I have read about it. So I can do no less than congratulate you. Go on with your work and don’t let the comments of bad people get in your way.
This movie was not made for children.
I played my Barbies like it was a soap opera. Lol. I have always wanted to be a screenwriter and when I was playing with my dolls they were like episodes and I used to say cut everytime I had to stop playing. Lol 😂
If you want a family movie that has satire that won't completely go over your head like this movie, then I recommend Susage Party. The satire is far more easier to understand and shouldn't get lost in translation like this films true messages did for you. It's also animated making it definitely designed for families just like Greta Gerwig's Barbie clearly was.
Legendary comment. Haha I’m a conservative but I am so disappointed with how many of us don’t understand satire. Also,I loved this movie and I loved Sound of Freedom. When you unplug yourself from the echo chambers of your respective groups it’s amazing what’s out there that you don’t have to be mad at.
@@ThePencilTheory I actually went into Sound of Freedom with an open mind, but as a movie, it was disjointed and overlong. It's not this life-changing masterpiece I expected. Then again, I've seen a handful of movies about trafficking so it wasn't my first, like it seems to be for most of the people praising it.
@@Sgureghian I can understand that. I didn't think it was perfect either but the only other trafficking movie I had seen before it was Taken so needless to say, Sound of Freedom left quite an emotional feeling on me. It definitely sobered me to the reality of what some children and people go through.
Wow. I really feel like Abby stepped out of the movie, or checked her phone, or SOMEthing. Because she seemed to miss some very straightforward and even EXPLICIT explanations/exposition. Seems a bit confused
This isn’t a kids movie. Geez. This woman is condescendingly weird 😊
I agree with some things you said but disagree with most of whst you said. The point that the real world is seen as bad doesn't make sense because at least the mom (who is from the real world) helped the barbie world become equal. Both Ken and Barbie realized they were in the wrong. I feel like you took the movie too seriously. I mean it’s just a fun little movie that mocks gender roles. I think itbwas meant to be satire and an exaggeration of what men and women should be.
Why feel the need to include your conservative… and this is not kids movie
So other conservative mothers (good mothers) can relate and trust in her opinion
@@masonlw03 being conservative doesn’t automatically make you a good mother… but okay

Barbie : "OMG the patriarchy is so bad irl and it came to Barbie world so we have to save it."
Also Barbie : "Now that we saved Barbie world from the evil that Ken brought from the real world, I'm going to move to the real world."
The thing that's messed up about it is that there are countries that are patriarchal in which women are subjugated. So it's not a joke to me and not something that should be put into a children's movie so lightly. It's a serious issue that does affect some women today, but not in this country.
I just realized that sounded kind of Catty, but it wasn't aimed at you or your comment. I'm just frustrated with the state of the world😅
@darkwingduck3477 so why are we discussing this subject in a movie that is made and centered around children's toys? If Woody and Buzz Lightyear started talking about eugenics, would that be appropriate?
Abby this is not a movie for kids it’s rated pg 13 not rated E for everyone and it’s not trying to brainwash any child. Because it’s not for children read the movie description.
If it’s rated PG-13 then it’s not just for adults, part of it’s demographic is still “impressionable minds” if we’re talking about “brainwashing children.” (Which I haven’t watched the movie and I don’t have an informed opinion on it.)
@@riddlesangerissues3127 honestly I would recommend to go see it as though it does have some adult jokes in it I thought it was a great movie. But if you don’t think it’s worth the money then I would just recommend to watch it when it comes to streaming service.
Also wanted to state I agree that they put down motherhood. But then made the statement that your mom is the person who steps back so her kids can shine. Barbie never came across as bad. And it felt like they blamed everything on the "Barbie brand". She just a doll I disagree with you that she represents everything wrong and tells girls being a mom is bad. My parents made sure to instill that I was made by a wonderful God! And parents who love me.
Yeah, pretty sure they're not putting down motherhood in the movie. I'm seeing the movie tomorrow but I've also seen the clips you might be referring to and they're just acknowledging how hard it is for people to be a mother or parent They're your aunt stay at home, work from home or working parent and just trying to find that balance. Not to mention that child free and other woman in general don't have it easy
There are multiple pro-motherhood lines in the movie. One literally says "if you just want to be a mother, that's okay too."

I loved the Barbie movie! I’m glad it’s so successful 😌
It obviously went over her head. She went in wanting to hate it and she did.
Great review. The Barbie movie is unwatchable. It's not so much woke as a really bad satire of woke culture, with no coherent point, as you mentioned in the review.
Despite what all the commenters say, there are plenty of stories of parents taking their tween kids to see the movie. Why anyone subject tweens to this unbearable, boring and uninspiring movie is beyond me.
Oh, and don't get me wrong... there are some hilarious sketches. Ken acting like a child, the CEO of Mattel acting like a child... yes, it's funny. But the movie overplays the message that men act likes boys. These are SNL skits, or five minute RUclips videos.
America Ferrara's rant on the impossible expectations of women is classic.
But after forty minutes, the movie becomes boring. The acting is decent. It's better than decent, it's quite good. But the acting cannot redeem a storyline that is neither wildly funny, nor profound, nor compelling. The story is superficial, undeveloped and wandering.
The movie isn't good enough to be propaganda or brainwashing. The movie IS SATIRE. But, many Americans fail to see that THE JOKE IS ON THE MOVIE GOER. The movie satirizes people who have no social values, and it makes fun of an audience that embraces a movie that has no social values.
Oh, and the flaws in the movie's basic assumptions. The stererotype that one gender or sex views the other gender as "all the same" or "one dimensional" is false. The stereotype that an entire society, in this day and age, share the same stereotypes is false. And the movie's fundamental embracing of a modern philosophy of will-to-power?
Not just satire, but old. Very old.
But the movie's greatest flaw? The implication that relationships are secondary to personal fulfillment. I thought therapeutic, woke, post-modern Hollywood was self-aware enough not to overplay the idea of personal fulfillment (at the expense of all else) as a deity.
You can't, on the one hand say the move tips its hat to the sacrifices that mothers make
and on the other hand say the movie embraces individualism, and the idea that you can be anyone one you want, even at the expense of developing lasting relationships.
Oh, and you can't hide behind the idiotic "it's satire" trope, when any intelligent person understands that what is being satirized is the movie goer. Because, only a moron would tolerate the sheer boredom and insipidness of the parts of the movie that fill the void between the five-minute SNL gags that are commentary on American society.
The sheer banality of the story, and the superficiality of the movie's basic assumptions, is what makes the movie, not satire, but a well-acted movie that lacks a coherent plot.
The movie isn't pathetic.
It's the determination of viewers and movie buffs to defend a movie that has no intelligible plot or story - that satirizes movie goers who find this boring and presumptuous movie even remotely entertaining - that is sad and pathetic.
Yes, Barbie is satire. And it satirizes moviegoers who are willing to pay (I didn't pay to see the movie) to see a movie with neither plot, nor meaning, nor constructive social message.
At the end of the day, this movie says, "if you like this movie, you are as superficial and Barbie and Ken."
Can y'all actually stop using the woke as a buzzword? Barbie is none of that because the woke means to stand against hate towards black people. It's a slang from the 60s to 70s. I love Abby but a lot of conservatives and some liberals need to educate yourself about woke
