Here it is 2024 & I still have this camera!!😬 I used to really take a lot of family photos with it, but never learned how to use it to its full capacity and don’t know anything about photography much in general! I’m happy to have found your content and hope to learn how to better use my camera! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!! I just subscribed to your channel!! ❤📸
Thanks for the information. I had just pulled mine out and started using it again. It has 64 menus and some have more than 1 setting. It was called the light D-200 by some. I use a 18-135mm Nikon VR lens. It covers most everything.
I own three Nikon D80 bodies and three Nikkor AF zoom lenses (wide-angle, normal, and telephoto) -- all bought in the last month for a total of about $1,000. This is an incredible value! I love the images I am getting from the CCD. My answer to your question: Absolutely yes, the D80 is a great camera to own in 2022.
I just came across your site. I found a minty D80 on Kijiji for CDN$100 with 50F1.8 lens (lens is $150 value alone), with 2 battewries and a 32GIG mcroSD card. I'm a pro by profession but from now, this camera is coming with me on all my shoots, just to grab fun shots.
I’m using it in 2024 and prolly beyond! In manual mode it can capture some really great images but you have to be careful that they are not under exposed. A little exposure compensation helps. I use a Nikon SB600 Speed Lite with it for amazing flash photography. Less megapixels can still be good, at least for some of us 😊
For APS-C cameras, I would suggest buying 35mm 1.8G instead of 50mm 1.8G/D. Other option may be the Nikkor 24mm 2.8D, but stay away of it if you have a low end DSLR (D40, D60, D3XXX or D5XXX) because you'll loose AF.
But its great to use 50mm if u mostly do portrait. So u dont really need a 85mm / 135mm to do a upper-torso tight shot. Well yeah, if u do basically random thing like sometimes street, sometimes cityscape, sometimes portrait then 35mm is best way to go
This was a great camera in its day. I had one for a few years until I replaced it with a D7000 (and now a D7500). At a pinch it was fine up to ISO1600 providing you did some post-processing or shot JPEG. I used it with the 18 to 70mm lens mine came with plus a Nikon 35mm, a 50mm D, an 85mm D and a Sigma 10-20mm.
I have found one in my basement, and I'm positively suprised. It can take some good photos. I like it. My grandmother bought it several years ago, despite this it's in perfect condiotion. In Poland it's very expensive (600pln ~ 133eur)
I'm buying one tomorrow for a 100$ is it a great deal? No cracks, no errors, comes with a nikon bag and the official battery and charger, comes from a photographer, not many pictures taken so it has more life
i am looking at one for 200€ icluding a 18-55 and 50-135mm lenses and all the accesoryes. I would use it as a beginer photographer, portraits, street.... advice?
Punchier Images? is that good or bad? how do you define Punch? Most of your sample images are either way soft or even out of focus with zero depth of field... is that the camera or you?
I just finished shooting another D80 video last week as promised! More videos for you guys! I'll try to insert that next week in our upload schedule! Happy to hear another D80 owner! 💪✌️
Last week I bought a Nikon AF FX NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D Lens with Auto Focus for my Nikon D80. It only works in Manual mode and will only focus manually. Is this not the correct lens for my camera? Thanks in advance for any advice.
Hey, thank you for this video. I am not a photographer but got this camera last year and had a lot of joy with it. Since I am streaming now, I would like to know if I am able to do this with the Nikon D80. For this plan I got an Capture Card for my PC and a AV Chinch to HDMI Adapter. I was able to see pictures and the menu on my PC screen, but I would like to have a live feed of the camera. -> Is this possible? The camera doesnt have to record anything and I am not Intending to controll it by the PC. I just want to get what the lense just sees on my PC screen via the AV plug. I read that something like this should be possible via the USB port, but for this is the Nikon remote Program needed, which has to be purchased. And I have my doubts about the quality. Thanks for your help!
hi friend, this camera cant shoot video. not sure if you can use it that way. if youre able too, it may able to output a lower resolution file. maybe you can consider a Nikon D3200 or D3300? should be really cheap too!
@@GadgetRevNow :-) I am not a professional xD For my work I wished to have a camera to document the things I am doing, but I was short on money. So I traded my old television for this camera with a friend. She didnt take any pictures for years and I havent watched anything on that tv. So it was a good trade xD
Bear in mind that if you use a 50 lens you're in effect getting a 75 lens so that it's basically a long lens which is very limiting. A 35 lens would obviously give you an effective 50 lens. I've been using my D80 again after a long time and liking what I'm getting.
I am shooting this Badboy since 2006, bought it for like 900 EUR then. Nowadays, about 90-95% of the D80 suffer from a broken aperture gear mechanism, so buyers beware. The repair cost is far off, way much more, then this DSLR is being worth into 2022 and beyond. The D80 had this kind of serial failure, sad but real.

I always have my D80 too. 16 years old but it remains a good camera.

Love that 18-135mm!
The 18-135 is not VR. I prefer 18-105 VR and sharper lens.

I have the body, but no idea what lens it needs/a good lens in general for it
@@KitKat-tx3yl I use a wide angle lens for just about everything.
D50 to D90S are great cameras
I use mine everyday!
I got this for my HS graduation in 2008. I haven't used it in about 2 years but I still love it.

Wow, that's great value! And you have 2 more batteries. Sounds like perfect for trips too!
Maraming salamat sa review kabayan. May nakita kasi akong nikon D80 sa shopee kaya nag search ako ng reviews 😊
I just purchased one of these from an Army buddy who is getting rid of his gear because he doesn’t use it anymore. I am looking forward to using it.

I love d80 for my street photography, I bought it for $50( lucky me) thank you for the informative video
You're welcome! Nice to hear you own this too! We have a new D80 video next week and making more videos of it! ✌️👊
Damn! Your pictures are really nice with this old camera. Found one with 3300 shutter activations and bought it.
Nice! Buy a 50mm f1.8 lens and you will have the same images as mine!

I own one. My first camera. Thanks for the video ❤️
Youre welcome! 👊
I use my d80 with the 80-200mm f2.8D (MKII) Push Pull or the 50mm 1.8D
I had the 80-200 f4 before I think. Was a great lens!! F2.8 might be better!! ♥️♥️

Is available of D80 lcd screen in India?
i am looking at one for 200€ icluding a 18-55 and 50-135mm lenses and all the accesoryes. I would use it as a beginer photographer, portraits, street.... advice?
i have never heard of a 50-135mm lens.
Punchier Images? is that good or bad? how do you define Punch? Most of your sample images are either way soft or even out of focus with zero depth of field... is that the camera or you?
Its a preference. Generally good, since photographers will edit photos and bumps up the colors, punchier means more saturated colors.
Waiting for your next video on D80 😊

Make sure the M/A lever at front far right of camera is on A

Thank you so much ♥️
You're welcome!
I just purchased one this week. I have an Err message. How do I fix it?
What error?
Try ebay as a few people offer a repair fix. Nikon no longer service this model.
Agree!!
Good review!
Thanks!!
Thank you great video
You're welcome!! ❤
Good day sir, i have old d80 cam can you enlighten me?
Heeey brother! How you doin with your Nikon D80? Did you just buy it?
Whats you current setup with your D80? What lens or lenses you have?
I just bought a new body in excellent shape. For 123.00. They are great cameras.
it is nice. some of my thumbnails came from it. 😉

oooh didnt know that! thanks for the headsup. whats your camera now?
@@GadgetRevNow Too many. But 90% Film only. Minolta XD7, Yashica FR-I, and many others. Digital, Fujifilm, Sony, Canon, Nikon. And still the D80 here.
Wow! I got few too but all digital. The only film I have is the Insta hehehe 😁😁
@@GadgetRevNow I thought that, because you're a younger generation. :)
Is there a work around for the aperture failure?
It's not bad.. At all, compared to the prices. thx for the video bro
Yes, the quality of photos you'll produce are great! ❤ YW brother!
@@GadgetRevNow 👌✨✨
I was surprised you didn't mention the CCD sensor, since there are so many people picking them up for that reason.
I have a D80. It can take very good photos. I also am content to use it in 2021
Yes sir!! 👊😃
Of course you can still use it. Ccd sensors are fun
Se puede grabar videos?
It wont record videos. D90 is your cheaper and best shot.
Tengo esa cámara y la uso con Sigma 70-200 2.8 terrible maquina
I have the same camera, but I want to use it like you.
Buy a good lens. Maybe start with prime lenses.
@@GadgetRevNow what lens do you use?
Hey can I shoot video in nikon d80
No.only images.
@@GadgetRevNow what about canon eos 1100D which is better
EOS 1100D shoots 720p video. If you need it, I think you should go for it! 😉👊
@@GadgetRevNow can you play compare canon eos 1100 vs nikon 80d
I dont have Canon T3 right now. If I do, I will.
Thanks for the information, currently wanting to get a proper camera for stop-motion.
You can change the lence of this camera if ever you want change
I would probably not include blurry or poorly lit images in a showcase of good photos.
Sending Love ❤️
Still use mine with a 18-55mm lens .
Nice! Mine mostly with 50mm hehe. Mostly family portraits.
@@GadgetRevNow The 50mm 1.8G is a great lens . I use one too .
