Hi! I'm a farm wife, mama to two and coffee addict - raking my way through life on the farm, inviting you along. I believe all of our stories matter and that they all relate more than we think.
My husband, two children and I work and live on a beef cattle operation in Milton, NC on the Central NC/VA line. No two days are the same around here and I use this vlog to show the good, the bad, the hard and the rewarding we find in this life. If you like what you see, I'd love for you to subscribe and tell a friend who might enjoy, as well. This community is growing and I love interacting with you all.

My Dad was an old timer, and stickler about leaving hay on the ground- we had a dump rake, and had to go over the field to get all the scatterings! Couldn't leave corners, had to mow every piece of grass standing, no rounding the corners

Good Girl! Your are so funny, Doing the Work in the Fields, thinking about the weather and the Maschines beeing greased to Work properly! Your Thoughts are right on the Things, in the Moment you are doing it. That is not normal in these Days. I learned making haye driving a John Deere 710 with my Brother, but they were formed to Cubes and we had to lift them up manualy. I was 7years old in 1972. It ist good to see that there ist Something left. You and your Husband could bei proud. Merry Christmas and a Happy new Year from the Harz Mountains in Germany.

Thoroughly enjoying, love haying, always have, from cutting to baling, thanks for taking us along, you do so well, except maybe almost knocking the farmer down, but you're a valuable partner in the entire operation, whenever I'd be gone for the day on hay, I'd bring my jug of ice water, lunch and tools in case something broke, wonderful memories, no wonder you're smiling the whole time, oh, and I like how you looked back and forth, at the rake, so many channels they have their head facing the camera, NEVER looking back, thanks AGAIN

I learned so much there, didn't realize it at the time. I've done the cold steak lunch. HA! My gram used to bring ginger water that she made to us, said it quenched your thirst longer than regular water. She'd bring watermelon to us too, the good kind that you had to spit the seeds out!! Cab tractors with AC, that's awesome. We had no cab tractors, used to be filthy after a day of haying! That's right Farm on!!

I was put on the little Ford 8n tractor pulling a horse-drawn tedder when I was about 13-14. Then graduated to mowing with the side sickle-bar mower when I was 14-15. I only got to rake one time and never got to bale. When the baling was going on, I followed the baler with a pitchfork snagging hay missed by the baler and put it in the next windrow over. You sure do live high on the hog! Steak sandwiches, peanut butter crackers, and such. I usually had maybe an apple, some cheese, some bread, and a can or two of Vienna sausages. Never went hungry though!!! Great video again!!!

You must have meant 2,000 rpm look at your tachometer it s maked ×100 so 20 =2,000 Engine rpms and 540 pto speed comes in at 2100 on some models and 1900 on others.

Little things like that i pick up right away as a truck driver a tachometer to me is my tool just like a chalk board is to a school teacher. Even as a kid a tachometer on a John Deere 3020 was like candy in a candy store to me.

I used to work our family farm down near Lancaster PA on weekends. I worked the State Transportation during the week. My cousin used to work with me on the farm, she was sweet and fun to be with. You remind me of her a lot. She had passed a while ago, and I miss her. I'm glad that you live your life big and wholesomely, I hope that you have a Merry Christmas and a profitable New Year!

I'm glad to see that you didn't pull those earphones out of your bag and use them. I worked on a Horse Farm making their hay. The farm wife couldn't ride on a tractor without listening to music and you could hear a piece of equipment coming apart on the other side of the field but she was oblivious. Headphones and Equipment don't mix well even from a safety aspect.
