Hi! I'm a farm wife, mama to two and coffee addict - raking my way through life on the farm, inviting you along. I believe all of our stories matter and that they all relate more than we think.
My husband, two children and I work and live on a beef cattle operation in Milton, NC on the Central NC/VA line. No two days are the same around here and I use this vlog to show the good, the bad, the hard and the rewarding we find in this life. If you like what you see, I'd love for you to subscribe and tell a friend who might enjoy, as well. This community is growing and I love interacting with you all. Farm hard, live well.

First. How can Anyone categorized as human dislike this? Second y’all tire me out just watching. Most folks don’t realize all the hard work that goes into bringing us all the wonderful food and Ag products farmers and Ranchers do. Thanks to your family and those like you
That’s super kind. Thanks for being here Kevin!
At a younger age couldn’t get off the farm fast enough. Looking back, I wish I’d never left, those days went by so fast.
These videos bring back so many great memories.
I'm sure a lot of people have the same experience. Thanks for being here
Meredith, I just discovered you. This brings back so many memories! I grew up back in Ohio on a farm. Mostly with Clydesdales and Belgians, but 200+ acres of hay and corn. Harvest time found me bailing hay at the age of six. A Massey Ferguson tractor was my first driving lesson. I wish we had such a pretty lady out there helping us! Thanks for gracing my phone!
Aw yay! So glad you’re here and can relate. Thanks!
Awesome. That of your little girl talking to her Dad learning to ride was precious. We enjoyed the video. Waiting for part 2. Thanks 👍👍👍❤️
daughters first bike solo son driving the tractor = one proud mom congrats too all. and on the harvest.
Yes! Thank you ☺️
Just started watching your videos today, your husband is a hell of a man. Much respect.
Thank you!
Going through and watching your old videos. I am hooked on you guys. Love LB's advice. Reminds my of my dad, tough as nails. :-D
I love watching little ones learn, gives my heart a peace and comfort 👍❤️🙏🏼
Great video! I spent 22 years in Virginia. People from North Carolina are really nice. The average person does not understand how hard farmers work. Every guy is guying to fall in love with you and your family. Farmers are the only ones that know how to survive when things get tough. When the next depression hits, the farmers can sustain themselves. Every guy wants a wife like you.
Thanks for the kind words and for watching. ☺️
So many cool things in this video, your little girl learning to ride her bike is probably the best along with your boy running that tractor like a true pro. His whole life is starting to go down a certain path now and I can assure you it's one of the best.
Yes! Thank you
How can the rest of us not be excited when we see how excited you are. You just have a unique way of making all of the farm chores seem easy when we know they're not. Thanks as always Meredith and congratulate Austin on mastering the bicycle! :)
Well thank you! She's excited and I'm pretty excited too haha
Having worked on a dairy farm 50 years ago when I was a teenager, these videos really take me back. As I watch, I think about my beautiful memories from those days and realize you and your family will have similar memories 50 years from now. God bless!
Thank you!
It's so rare but wonderful to see a family that works so good together in todays world. You have a beautiful family, it takes a lot of hard work and dedication from the parents to achieve such a goal. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for saying so ☺️
I guess Im randomly asking but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot my password. I love any tricks you can offer me!
@Jax Shane instablaster =)
@Elon Kamden Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and im in the hacking process atm.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Elon Kamden it worked and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my account :D
I like how your kids getting involved with the daily routines
You are an amazing lady! A rare breed. I don't think there is nothing you can't do.
I've been checking out your videos and loving them. Real life! Real drama! Lol!
Aww haha, thanks! There's a lot I can't do, though. :P
Growing up in Kansas I really appreciate your videos. Brings back a lot of memories. For some reason, especially this video.
I have to say, the fine black cows and calves, the kids helping and learning, especially about maintenance and long hours during harvest, neighboring, OT working dusk till dark and you doing everything you can to help is really great to see and to have it documented for others that are not aware of how farm families work together and how "Farm Wives" hold everything together is awesome.
OT is certainly a lucky fella and I mean that with all respect!
Thanks Don! It’s a good life ☺️
The farmers wife is always a very important part of any job on the farm. My mother like you was lunch maker, tractor driver , runner for most everything and care giver most importantly for all us kids. Loved my mom rest her soul. Silage time was always so much fun☺. Huntsville Ontario Canada 🍁 👍
Aw, I'm sure she was a great cook and great mom! Glad you have those memories.
Another really great production. You got the bull by the horn, girl. I’m still going thru your history of love vlogs for past two (2) years. Anyway, this production brought back wonderful memories when I lived in Roanoke for ten (10) years (City raised), back in the 70’s. The rolling hills n scenery was fantastic. Missing the changes of weather seasons, being in Florida for past thirteen (13) years,..especially after living in Maryland for eighteen (18) years...! Yeah,..I’m a baby boomer and Dad was Air Force thirty-one (31) years, so living overseas weather, Okinawa, Germany, France, Turkey, Italy, is a lifestyle your children will master thru their upbringing, in Milton. It all works out in the wash, with love.! Thanks for listening, again..! Ciao..!
I am writing on my wife's page, your boy helping so brings back memories of baling hay with my dad on the ranch in Montana when I was 12. Such a good time! I'm sure he will look back on this with good memories too.
Yes I’m sure! Thanks for watching!
Been there, done that! Yep, sure remember 60+ years ago!
9-9-20. I live in the Midwest.I just started watching your videos about life on the farm. Most people take it for granted,How hard you have to work to put food on the table.I also enjoy your open candor and the part "differant".It wont be long before we get into the cold weather again.Keep the videos coming and God Bless.
Hard working family, Great Videos
Beautiful, I spent summers growing up with my grandma in southern Mississippi. My aunts and uncles were terrific.
Made my personality. The kindness and loving, in my heart.
I miss them but appreciate them more than I can imagine
Love your videos , i am 78 yrs and it reminds me of when I was young and we pulled corn by hand then threw it in the wagon by hand
Great memories 🥰
Every time I watch your video's, I'm amazed at the way you handle your family. Such love and family commitment. Don't see that much up here in Central Indiana. You go girl! Hey! Guess what? I turned 77 September 1st! I sure miss farm life, but can enjoy watching the video's. Howdie to Husband a children!
I stumbled onto you channel a few weeks ago and have gotten hooked! I just love your spirit and camera presence. I grew up on a small dairy, beef, rowcrop farm in Oregon. I see all of the videos of the large farming operations with large, modern, gps connected machinery that costs 100s of thousands of dollars. The way you farm is the way I grew up farming and it is very refreshing to see a family farm operation that is more the way it is for the smaller farm family. I now live in Louisiana where the farming is quite different and not much of it. I watch your videos with the fondest of memories. Very nostalgic for me. Keep up the great work. May you and your family continue to be blessed.
Thank you for saying all of this. I’m glad to show what we do and how we do it. It takes all farmers to make the farming world go round. ☺️
AWSOME!!! Your videos keep getting better, Merdi! Your son reminds me of when I was his age. I was the grease pump. and silage packer as well. I love that he's taking an interest now. It will benefit him when he's an adult. Absolutely love your antics. Can't wait for the next video.
Thanks so much! This was a busy but good week ☺️
I’d love to have a dog like Bonnie. This dog knows the daily routine. It’s fun to watch her operate and anticipate your every move. You just can’t love them enough.
Amen!
Busy, busy, busy day! Just love how Bonnie knows her place in the truck. She wasn’t going to get in because she was on wrong side of truck.......lol. Great how you take care of the family and workers making sure they are fed and have cool drinks! They ‘preciate that! The son is growing up and the baby girl going to be ready for a bigger bicycle soon! By the way the river was beautiful and looked very peaceful!
Yes she got a bigger one next day 😅
The best meals I ever had are the ones my mom and sister would bring to the fields while my brother and dad worked. Many years ago! Thanks for the memories!
Meredith.
Thank You for the walk along with you as the silage pit is being filled and packed. Yes you should be very proud of your son running that packing tractor in the silage pit
Meredith your gofor work is very important to the over all operatio. Please Take Care of your self Plus Be Very Care Full around all Farm Equipment 😑🤗😊😃🤠😎
Great video! This one brings back all kinds of fond memories; first bike ride, short vacation before a big job, cutting silage, first year of learning the ropes of adult work, working with a good crew in good going, and best of all, lunch in the field. Your burgers look fantastic. There isn't hardly any better way to make a crew feel special than to feed them a hot home cooked meal in the field. Thank you for sharing. The love your family has for each other is obvious. You're a lucky lady.
Thanks David! It’s a good life
Your country side is fantastic. Some what like western Wisconsin. Can't wait till you put up the fall colors. Right of passage that everyone remembers the moment they first rode their bike. Well done young lady.
Front Range Born and Raised, nothing like the smell of silage. Back in the day kids were exempt from school to put up the harvest, which happened end of August through September. My Birthday is September 9, every year on my BDay was spent packing the two pits of silage to feed 200+ dairy cows. I sure do miss that! Thanks for the reminder!
Aw, well I'm glad you have such fond memories. :D THanks for being here
excellent job on capturing the process of how it is done. absolute best part of this video was Lawrence leaning in to hear what his daughter wanted to share about her trip to the coast. you captured on video a daddy's love for his daughter. great job there Meredith... thank you for being here making and sharing your real.
Thanks SF! I loved that part too ☺️💛
Yes, absolutely true... "absolute best part of this video was Lawrence leaning in to hear what his daughter wanted to share about her trip to the coast"
@@jacksak you suppose she's daddy's girl? Another cool video.
I loved the part where Lawrence took time to listen to his daughter, giving her validation and the gift of his attention and time, also loved watching her learn to ride the bicycle. Your boy is becoming a young man, learning the craft, don't blink.
@@jbaldwin2950 - now think about how precious daylight hours are to a farmer and how Lawrence stopped what he was doing to do just as you said. I am so glad Meredith captured that on video.
I remember the first time I learned to ride a bicycle like it was yesterday. And you have her on video. Love it
Great seeing your family working on the silage takes me back 👍🏴🇺🇸🆒
I grew up on a farm. Every kid should. Your kids will have a great work ethic that will serve them well for the rest of their lives.
You and your husband are doing a great job of parenting.
Your kids will thank you some day.
I think it's a great place to raise kids, too. THank you!
thanks for sharing.. my mom used to be our "lunch lady" she would bring lunch out to us when ever we were working on our own stuff!! she would have "one of those moments" every so often also!! LOL the best moment was when she left the pot of beans on the roof of the car & made it a block from the house, when she stopped at the stoplight our friend at the NAPA store ran out the front door & hollered at her "the pot is on the roof"!!! she didn't own up to it till he told us we almost didn't get lunch that day!! LOL the memories that you are makin now!!! ;)
I’m dying!😅😂🤣 this sounds like something I would do!
I really love your channel. You Remind me so much of my wife that past many years ago. Same smile and laugh she had. Just a very fun loving attitude about life. You have a wonderful family. Nothing like work to make your soul feel good. God bless you and ur family. Can’t wait for the next video
So sorry for your loss. I'm glad you are enjoying the channel. Thanks for being here!
Great memories for Wesley being made while working with his Dad. I can still remember my Dad holding the tip of the grease gun while I did the pumping. I miss those days.
Good stuff ☺️
Another brilliant video of farm life ,thank you for sharing Meredith 👌
Now I know what silage is, thanks Mereidith. After you mentioned you got a good deal on the Mule, I mentioned it to my hubby. This morning we got up early, took care of our 4 legged critters, and headed to TX to check out some UTVs. We bought a Mule and got a good deal...thanks to you👍🤗
Oh sweet! Hope y’all like it was much as we are liking ours ☺️
Thanks for making these videos, they bring back memories of filling our and neighbor pit silos in my youth. Thanks again...
You're welcome. THanks for being here!
Never saw Videos like these and the memories from the farm are coming back , and the neighbors farm as well. Never laughed so much while working on the McCurdy`s farm. I also know what you mean about the clutch that`s not there. So funny
You're the cutest farm wife I have ever seen. Lovely country.
You had my attention for whole 30 minutes and 6 seconds. Well put together and I always love the music you pick , like when your son was on the dock fishing. I loved watching the process of you guys harvesting the silage ! Great job!
Thanks! I loved that too. I could listen to the whole song 😅 Thanks for being here
The most important person on a farm/ranch is the one who keeps the crews fed! To this day my mom still calls us in at lunch time. Great video.
Thank you!
Watching with the hay rack reminded me of an old fellow that told me a joke when i was young, Do you know why cows don't like round bails of hay.... There not getting a square meal... Love your show and your outlook on the farming life.. Every child in america should spend a summer out on the farm. It teaches you about life in so many ways... God bless and be safe.
Haha I gotta tell that one to the kids. Thanks!
Another great video, admire Lawrence's dedication to his equipment, kids were great, thanks for sharing
Eastern NC! Love this part of the world!
It's a good place to be!
This Farm Wife - Meredith Bernard: I went to college not too far from you, so I now your area well enough to know that it indeed is a very nice area. We like it so much that we’re looking to retire down that way to a little farmette in the next couple of years.
The smell of fresh silage is wonderful.
Merideth,as a mechanic and former farmer I really like how your husband keeps his older equipment in productive condition.
He does a good job keeping it going and taken care of.
Really enjoy watching you and family on the farm.
Thank you I learn more about life and farming. My horses appreciate you and your husband effort
If you have heard you are doing amazing job keeping everything going so they can get the silage chopped. It will be a few weeks before they start chopping around here. Great to have friends to help out when when you need help. Looked like you and the kiddos had a great time on the little vacation trip and Congrats Austin on mastering the 2 wheels. Keep up the great videos
Thanks Kenny! It was a good week
A full sunrise to sunset silage chopping day and no machine breaks or hiccups. That had to be a record for such work. Nothing like spending a day greasing and preparing.
Fantastic video. They keep getting better and better.
I just don’t know how you fit it all in.
Thanks Noel! It helps knowing people enjoy them. I appreciate you!
Making the silage year after year is just like riding a bike. Never forget how to do it once you've don it!Great video Sister!Chuck
I had never seen silage done before as I'm from a northern state. Meredith U take real good care of Ur family. Please tell Ur husband I like the way he takes care of Ur cattle. Y'all is a word. Y'all take care & thanks for the video...wayne
Thank you. Y'all is definitely a word!
Silage is done in northern states.
@@Machi74005 your right I should have specified. Montana, Eastern plains. Hope that clears up any misunderstanding I might have caused.
@@montana1951 No problem. Isn't Montana a major forage state?
@@Machi74005 yes it is, spring, summer & fall then for winter it's massive amounts of hay & supplements. Take care...wayne
Oh, so incredibly fantastic, best thing about farming to me is harvesting, chopping silage neck and neck with haymaking ,my favorites, wow, you covered a lot of ground with all you did, being every bit as valuable as any other crewmember, especially when you're bringing food and beverage, thanks for sharing such a great few days, can't wait for part two
Thanks Tony! It’s busy but fun times
Definitely
I am learning a lot about farming from these videos .
That makes me really happy!
It's hard work but honest work. I'm just too lazy.
Well its informative... its great to have the cameras rolling to keep the tradition going. a lot of younger people don't have that drive to do anything. I have a fb page about living off grid. I have posted your videos and we would just scale it down for growing on a 1/4 acre to 4 acres. lol I know far from what you are used to. The accent is nice too lol.
i can feel for your son i remember endless days of fun packing silage here in Iowa when i was that age , but it will all be worth it this winter watching them cows chow down
Yes that’s true!
Thanks for the video.. it takes me back to time in the late 70s when I was y'all's son age the first time I packed silage on a WD-45 your husband knows what I'm taking about ..hand clutch scared me to death. But I made it .. y'all's youngins are living the best Life and it's good for them to work and play.. and you do a great job helping out. That look when the sun was coming up light fog was beautiful...god bless
Those first times can be scary and he's had his moments, but he's coming along so well. Good memories you have, too! Thanks for being here. Have a great day
Nice video and presentation of a hard working farm family.
I love the way your husband looks at you sometimes when you're recording him.
Go Austin Go!! That was priceless! Need a vacay now and then my friend. You shonuff have it going on over there Mrs. Meredith. You folks know how to Git-R-Done!
Ha, just busy time of year. It will slow down eventually!
you and Lawrence must be very proud of Wesley
Work work work, day after day, 60 hour week with a 40 hour pay! I have no clue why that song popped in my head, but I like it! :)) Great job they're doing, I remember the last time Y'all did this. And this time your son is packing with the tractor. Soon he will need/want his own truck. lol. Time flies, and I can not believe how big he's gotten. Hope all is well and that Y'all had a great weekend. :))
Thanks Calvin. I can’t believe how big he’s gotten either. A lot has changed in just a year. Feeling all the mama feels here 😭
Love your videos! Takes me back to my days as a child. I would be on the farm now if the Lord had not had other plans for me. Oh well, still good memories. I always thought the "runner" was the most important part of the crew. They kept us fed, watered, and ran for parts or other pieces of equipment when needed so everything did not grind to a halt. Praying for you and your family daily since I found this channel.
So glad you are enjoying my channel. I really appreciate the kind words and prayers!
I really like the music you played earlier. I'm older and it really clicked with me. As normal thank you for the laughter and smiles. i don't want to be weird but your videos i really like thanks. Your son and daughter look at them grow up. Thanks for your time and videos.
That’s not weird. I appreciate you saying so! I like the music too. ☺️
Awesome job, I’m just back from my “mandatory” yearly vacation before harvest, been to ND, SD, WY, ID and Montana, saw lots of your lovely country.
Wow that sounds amazing.
Life is good. Awesome when ya'll can get together and make the puzzle pieces fit.
Good morning Meredith, Thank you for the video!! And a busy time, Take Care 👍😎🇬🇧.
Thanks for watching!
Keep the long videos coming love spending the day with you and your family
Thank you!
You're Mum ,manager ,help when needed , cook , cleaner . Runner And Video Star and beautiful lady . God Bless
Thanks!
The old timers said the highest paid person on the threshing crew was the water person bringing drinks.😁 Love to see family and friends working together. Alot less neighbors working together. More neighbors wanting the neighbors farm. Good people get much better rewards and that's what I like about your videos
Thanks for saying so and being here!
What a beautiful Sunrise. Thanks for sharing
It was a beauty!
Yoohoo. When i was a kid we packed silagein a pitw/8 ft. Side extensions. We had an old case tractor lever slide in and out box, we had to hand crank this baby to start it. I was your sons age when i drove give or take a couple yrs. This tracto had 16 in wide iron wheels w/ kleats in back and 8 in wide iron wheels w/kleats infront. Silage smells so good. After its packed in winter keeps your hands warm moldy stuff on top went to the pigs. Life was so much fun back then. Love you all. Farm life was good.
Yes farm life is good. You have great memories! Thanks for watching ☺️

Thanks Tim!☺️💛
Very pretty lady, very beautiful family. Find myself watching your videos all the time
I never did really like the first cutting of hay since we did square bales for our horses and had to do it all by hand and handle the bales multiple times but I enjoyed the second cutting and silage cutting because I knew fall would be here soon. I would gladly do it now though if I could spend one more day with my dad. I miss those days with him on the farm. Enjoy them while you can with your family no matter how hectic life gets.
I’m so sorry. I know you miss him. 💛
I love everything about you and your channel!!!!!

Thank you 💛
Good stuff gal glad to see all of yall, good family!
Hi M . Great video. We use to also make silage in a hole in the ground, but we find that our losses on top layer and on bottom where less if we make it just on top of flat peace of ground with a little incline. No more standing water when it rains during feeding. Maybe our climate is dryer in South Africa. We also spread a little salt between layers during compacting. Nice to see how you guys doing it. You can also give your husband a compliment on his equipment, we’ll maintained and looked after 🌽🌽
That’s interesting about the salt! And thank you. He takes very good care of his equipment
Always busy time when that cutting comes around
Interesting those old Tobacco Barns would make a Beautiful painting 🖼 don’t see that many anymore 🎨
Awesome video again Meredith love as usual you are amazing thank you from Australia Cheers Frank
