All the info I needed! I've kept chameleons for many years which is a tall screened cage, but I recently started to keep geckos so I'm new to terrariums. I just got my custom background today and will use the Vaseline trick so thanks so much!
I used Vaseline as you suggested and the results were better than the clearview glue I used on another tank. Thanks for the tip.
You’re welcome!
Nice video!
I have been going down the painting route as it always looks awesome! One good tip I will add to your video for subsequent viewers is that IF you paint your tank, try putting a vinyl background on over the painted finish. This really prevents tubes, pipes, cables etc from scratching the paintwork and takes away the need for touch ups!
All the best from Cornwall, U.K.
Mark-Allan Pilgrim That is a great tip! A great way to keep the paint looking it’s best long term! Thank you,a 👍
Thanks a load . Helped me a lot .
Thank you for the ideas!
Helpful ~ Thanks & Cheers from Bend Oregon!
Great video! Thanks for sharing! I love how you said advantages and disadvantages 👌🏽
Gabriela Angelina Thank you, I am glad that part was helpful!
Great video!! Thank you so much.
Thanks for sharing. Very informative. I will try some of them. I love the black background
dbachelor's Planted Aquarium Thanks! IMHO the paint is the best option, but all three are good. Let me know what you decide 👍
I'll try using paint.
Ty I did a 3d background and its started to come off so these are some really nice and simple alternatives I'm going to use
ajax1379 You’re welcome, and I am glad it is helpful! 😊👍
Hi Max.. Great share.. I like how you explained the reasons behind backgrounds. I didn't know the vaseline tip..I liked that!
I paint mine - it's my favourite.. =D
DebTim A CANADIAN Girl Thanks Deb! Painting is my favorite too...i saved the Best for last. :)
Good thinking. I've tried the others as well but painting is the best. I love the look of the 3D backgrounds but I'm not willing to give up that much tank space for it. Low profile are ok but still need space. ={
I need to find the Static Backgrounds. Is there a website you can recommend????
A lot help
Thankss
A lot
If you have problems with light coming in the back, just put poster board behind the background...
TheDBCooperforum Great suggestion for an easy fix! 👍
Nice video man, windex or just plain water with the tiniest bit of dishwashing liquid works well before applying the vinyl, just what works for me. Here from psych's shoutout, subbed
Rookie Reefer Great tip, thanks! I will go check out your channel too 😀
Appreciate it man!
Aquarimax ming checking mine out too i dont have a lot to offer in my videos but i will appreciate it👍
Cristian Jimenez will do!
Really great video and I personally started using the paint when I went into the reef tank side of the hobby. Psychedelicbabe sent me and I am so happy she did because I subbed automatically. I look forward to your future videos.
Scott M Thank you! Psy Babe is doing great things for the hobby! I'll head over to your channel as well!
Aquarimax thank you
Love it!
Mateo Calderon 👍
Petroleum jelly works great really makes the colors pop but cleaning the excess that squeezes out is a pain. You also still have to tape the edges of they will lift and you really notice it when they do.
Agreed on all counts!
For paint I think plastidip would be great. It comes in a spray can and it peels off very easy. I used it on my car emblems and it’s great. Very durable, too
Steve Sowinski Sounds like a good idea! Thanks for the tip!
which background color is the best goldfish tank?
Uday Das Many people like black or blue backgrounds, they tend to set off the various colors of goldfish nicely. I have used both. 👍
My betta tank has black glass on the back, which is extremely reflective. So my betta glass surfs trying to fight himself, and hangs out in the back corner all day to do so. Since I can't remove the black, is there any backgrounds I can put on the INSIDE? I tried covering it with tall plants like hornwort, and wisteria, but he just gets behind the plants and continued to do it.
im having the same issue, have you found any solution yet?
That’s a tough situation....have you considered a Moss wall or a mattenfilter along the back?
That’s a tough situation....have you considered a Moss wall or a mattenfilter along the back?
@@rose-pi5gt I made a rock/moss wall! I got some hardware cloth, and hot glued rocks to it, then put moss balls between the cracks. Made it look nice, but I have to take it out to clean behind it during water changes, because gunk gets stuck back there
I use plasti-dip. Goes on nice like a paint but if you get tired of it you just pull it off
I just use spray paint, quick and easy and lasts a long long time.
Enceladus TheMistGiant Good tip! I will have to try that one 👍
I have sticky tape pads on the lid of my tank and I run fabric down the back haha I'm a cheapskate 😂
PsychedelicBabe That is a great method too!
I too have moved from the film on the back to paint :D
MyView 10.75.69 One of the best backgrounds in terms of bang-for-buck😀👍
Yesir 😁
Im thinking of going with Plastidip.
Hagi the Legend Sounds like an interesting thing to try 👍
Has anyone tried plasti dip
Players Club Seems like it might be worth a try.
I brought a new aqurium with the black background and my fish now get spooked very often because he see his shadow I don't recommend anyone do or buy black background aquriums
I have never had that issue. Do you have other plants and things in the background as well?
@@Aquarimax Same like it's used to be in the old tank I don't know how I could buy it :(((
Arianna Sorrentino what species are your fish? Thank have many tanks with black backgrounds, but none are more skittish than normal.
@@Aquarimax Jack Dempsey
I don't know what should I do im thinking to buy new aqurium but this one was so expensive
