Karn Evil 9 is the best ELP song. When I first heard it, I was in a department store. and I believe that it was playing over their sound system. I couldn't believe it. Other people were also listening too. I've never stopped loving it!
This is one of the very best albums ever made. It's a timeless masterpiece that's decades ahead of it's time. It predicts the rise of AI and its takeover of the human race. The writing, performances, recording, mix, and production are stellar. ❤
@@1adneumannELP had to change after recording and touring BSS to preserve their sanity. The darkness and sadness were just too much for them. Memoirs of an Officer and a Gentleman is the best section of Love Beach. I think it should be re-mixed, re-titled to "Memoirs...", and re-released with a different cover photo. Love Beach sold alot of records despite the ridiculous marketing by Atlantic Records and most of the music on it is really quite good. It has been reported that it was a record the band didn't really want to be there for, with the exception of Keith. He stayed to record a great solo album, "Honky" afterward at Compass Point Studios in Nassau.
@@1adneumann Ahmet Ertigun made them do "Love Beach" to fulfill contract obligations. Actually, if they had chosen some other title and cover pic, it wouldn't have been so bad. There are some good stretches on there.
Saw the, "Welcome Back My Friends To The Show That Never Ends" tour back in the Seventies, third row from the stage..... Never been the same since, it blew my mind.
IMO - this is one of the greatest pieces of music ever written. And I mean EVER, too... I love the 1st & 2nd Impressions, but this one is just perfect.
Saw them in 77 (Greensboro) and 78 (Memphis). Such a great band, have several of their albums. Brain Salad Surgery and Pictures at an Exhibition are my favs. Works, Trilogy and Tarkus are great too.
50yrs new or so? Greatest keyboard perfromances here. His mastery of the Moog unsurpassed....But wait: is this the same band that put out "Love Bleach" some four yrs later? Nah, can't be
@@1adneumann Oh I'm not disagreeing at all. I would have liked Love Beach to have been more Side 2-like. There were parts in there that I liked but indeed it was horribly 19th century Anglo-centric (?) but the let down from that was huge indeed. My jump-off point was '81 with Lake's solo effort...Power of 3 and the other variations were just pointless...kinda Yes after 1980.
Not the MOOG at all; old school Hammond B2 and B3. Where are MOOGs today? Museums. Where are the B3s? In damn near every AME church in the US. Nuff said.
In November on election day I will post Tocatta as my Anthem for the day, and should My candidate win I will post his 3rd impression, once the race is called. If my candidate does not win I will not grace the opponent with a lament. The people will have spoken.
the fission is a stacking of the sixes until there are three of them... the six are excesses, waste, flaws, what nature recycles... BUT DANGER... this is a chain reaction that does not rotate the nine into the new cycle of creation, but begins to stack in cascading failures... this impression is the same throughout the ages... but the humans of earth do not think correctly, they have become polarized so that a natural evolution of 1-7, 8, and then the nine becomes stuck
Karn Evil 9, from it's fugue intro to the final whip around at it's conclusion, a masterpiece.
Timeless masterpiece. Young people please listen

Absolutely agree !
I agree; I still love it...... But, they should have thrown in the towel after this...After "Love Bleach" I lost all respect for them. too bad.....

@@islandpalm148 Sorry, some "good stretches" doesn't cut it.... they doomed themselves after this embarrassment....No ones fault but there own.....

I think it was 73-74ish. Best show ….
Brilliant music, fantastic performances and Lake's wonderful vocals make the album a progressive and art rock gem.
ESTA MÚSICA ES PARA LA ETERNIDAD . NO PIERDE SU ORIGINALIDAD Y PODER .
' But I gave you life '
' Im perfect! Are you?
"No computer stands in my way".
- Average computer technician (and ELP fan).
Super Group..Great LP….Fantastic In Concert !!
MUCH appreciated.

I love the 1st & 2nd Impressions, but this one is just perfect.
Folks there is a very specific reason these are being uploaded. 👍🏼🔥
100 % true my friend 👍
You are our future batteries
That would be ...?
How specific is your intel?
Don't be the sound the wind makes blowing thru the leaves of a forest. This is curiosity.
This is an album where you just put on the headphones, get comfortable and bliss away. Genius stuff. Incredible

Hey I was there at the Greensboro Coliseum too! They were back to a 3-piece after the orchestra fiasco and they did fine.
@@islandpalm148 It was a great show. Blessings.
Fantastic❤😅
I play this, The Third Impression when the Sun falls. I kneel before the speakers. I am unworthy.......
Their graves need no flowers the tapes have recorded their names 😳
You can never forget this ending.
But I gave you life...
WHAT ELSE COULD YOU DO?
To do what was right...
I AM PERFECT... ARE YOU?
They saw today's artificial intelligence dominance 😮
That voice sounds like a Dalek
One cannot explain ELP. It has to be experienced
The third best prog pièce in the world!

@@okchess 1 and 2 impression of course😉

well there was some decent stuff on L.B., but the cover still just boggles the mind. It's like someone had some voodoo spell over the three of them...
@@EastmanD Sorry, I lost ALL respect for them after LB...even though they got even worse w/ Hot Seat...(though I still stand by B.S.S.)

No AI stands in my way. Only blood can cancel my pain.
No MCP stands in my way. Only Tron can cancel my pain. The users of a new clear dawn. Let the programs of war be drawn
The most distinctive, signature sound on this record is not the Modular Moog; it is the Moog Lyra.
Yes, I prefer it to the Yamaha Emerson played later. It sounds a bit wimpy compared to the Moog.
Not the MOOG at all; old school Hammond B2 and B3. Where are MOOGs today? Museums. Where are the B3s? In damn near every AME church in the US.
Nuff said.
Greg Lake had such an amazing voice. My girlfriend at the time had a crush on him.
Which he ruined with smoking and food. Notice Jon Anderson can still hit the high notes - just sayin'.

Im sure that Infinite space is their home. Emerson and Lake busted for the sake of inspiring music and this survives time
Take heed this warning
There never was a bans like ELP,
and there never will be.
R.I.P. Pete Sinfield.
this would slap in minor key
I’M PERFECT! ARE YOU?
Sounds like bloody AL
Nobody's perfect 😂just wanted to throw that out there to all you computers lol
It's inspired by a star trek episode I think. I am nomad.
Maybe. But Nomads premise is man cleverly besting a computer through logic while Karnevil #9 is a much more fateful conclusion I think.
