I wish I could go back in time on that fateful night and tell Keith Emerson, "Would you listen to this man? This is utterly phenomenal. You are a musical genius! You have nothing left to prove. Just enjoy your legacy. You have contributed such timeless works to the world of music. You should live the rest of your days with pride for the magnificent work you have done." Long live Emerson, Lake, & Palmer! 🙌
I have listened to all their songs so much I still hear Greg's voice singing even with the instrumental version. Emerson Lake & Palmer flows in my blood, beats in my heart, and forms my brain pattern. RIP Mr. Emerson, Mr. Lake and carry on rocking Mr. Palmer.
I'm 65 years old, from Brazil. This version belongs from a special edition for 40th years of BSG and I think is better than 1973 original. Since my 15's a have a great collection of all things you can imagine about ELP. I'm proud that a create my 2 boys hearing this kind off espetacular music.
I bought B. S. S. for the first time 50 years , 4 days ago. DEC 23, 1973 !! I can't believe this third Impression. BTW, the current PROG Magazine on the US bookstore magazine section features EMO on the cover with 2 articles.
This entire song remember me the university times... I board on the bus and listen Tarkus, Karn Evil 9 and For Richard from Caravan and the New Wave band, The Outfield on travel. I haved a 19 years old in 2019... Now i have 23 Years old... This is a nosthalgic
I was carrying Brain Salad Surgery in my hands as I returned for the record store. As I approached out house I saw my sister outside conversing with the most beautiful girl you will ever see (not my words but the words of talent scouts for super models). I was 16 and she was 13 at the time. The rest is history. I am looking at her now as I listen to this. The sound of ELP will be one of my last thoughts as I leave this earth. They are forever joined with absolute joy in my life. Their music will live as long as the universe I hope.
This outtake is sounding gorgeous (despite the guitar and some bass strings out of tune). I'd like ELP or Keith Emerson base a live version on the changes of this one.
It still pains me to listen to this..... and realize that 4(?) yrs later they put out swill like "Love Bleach", and then "Hot Seat"... well, they were responsible for their "3 Fates" as it were....

Agreed......very well said!!
agreed... "And, if someone suggest you make an album in the Bahamas, and call it "Love Bleach", tell 'em to F'ck off....."

It's such a great piece of writing and man, the Hammond tone is just perfect.
I'm perfect, are you?

How have I never heard this version??
It’s taken from a 2014 3-disc set release containing Steven Wilson’s remixes and out takes. I purchased it back then. Marvelous!
What do you think Steve Wilson did to "improve" the recording?" I might have to listen to his version. Just want to know in advance. @@pmoris4405

this sounds like a rundown of the track before the moog was ready,
The drumming is better in my opinion on this version

So we've been ripped off on bass for all these 50+ years? I've always thought the bass was too far back in the mix. Still too far back.
