My team and I never did that (you try telling a kindergartner he has to watch his friends eat pizza because his family is broke but not broke enough for free lunch) because it’s obviously cruel. But from time to time, we would be graded as employees by the school board for compliance and would have to until the rep left. I HATED making hungry children cry and many times we would pay for their lunches for the day out of our own wallets to make sure they could eat. School system is just horrible!🔥
I took in a homeless boy and the school did their part by not feeding the homeless boy until his $20 meal tickets were paid. I packed his lunch and i never paid. 😝

No way! It is a common thing?! In France you have to pay for lunch at school but a fair amount of municipality pays part of it if not the whole thing in poor area. And if you can't pay the social assistance will help you. It is so important since for some children it is the only equilibrated meal of the day. Il

And you have to requalify every year... no matter how much we lobbied to make the program easier it feel on deaf ears. I resorted to keeping snacks in my classroom because many of my students were not eating much at home.
