I'm really upset you didn't pull a Family Circus comic strip route around your house! 😝
Nice heat map tech. Does the app allow multiple heights on a single floor? It would be interesting to see readings at 0, 1, 3 ,5 ,7, ... foot heights, to verify a window bounce, or other object reflecting/blocking, such as your car in the garage. If not, multiple identical floor plans as different levels could be a walk-around.

I think to make that work you'd have to do what you mentioned, load in identical floor plans and re-walk them with the Sidekick 2 at a different height. It would be interesting to see how different the maps would end up being at different layer heights! Thanks for the comment!

Very cool piece of kit. I wish I could justify buying it but that's a lot of $$$ for home use.

is anyone having issues with the SK2, turning off by itself during surveys after 2 or 3 minutes?

How easy is to lease one for a couple of days 🤔

That I don't know - Typically companies will buy these and you then pay for their services to map out your network or if you're a large campus or company, buy one.

I’ve now received my second sk2 and it doesn’t seem to charge. All I get is a red solid light and the app says it’s only on 2 percent charge.
Any thoughts on this before I make another call to Ekahau?

This is a bit old, sorry we missed it - Call Ekahau. Considering the cost of this tool, make them do the work to resolve the issue.

...and for the love of all that is Holy, keep your 2.4GHz devices on Channels 1, 6, and 11. You may think it's a good idea to use Channel 3 because there aren't any other devices using it, but the level of cross-channel interference you are causing is ABSOLUTELY 100% WORSE than sharing a channel with all those other devices.

I have a free smartphone app that does all those things. I'm sure you probably know the one.

Oh dang really? All the stuff? So i do not have to spend 10k and get incredible software when theres a free app? Dang looks like this company will go bankrupt.

no you don't. a smartphone doesnt have a 50 sweep per second spectrum analyzer. it cannot read and record 100s of APs per second and plot them in software. it cannot scan and read all wifi channels at rapid pace every foot you walk.

They do "SOME" of the features. You missed the point of you were just looking for a signal strength checker.
If I ran a hospital and the IT engineer was qualifying the network with some free app, Id not let them back in the building.
