I had a Whirlpool Design 2000 with the same agitator that Purchased new in 1985. I used it until I sold it in 2010 and it was still working at the time.. Just a basic, no frills washer but did the job and did it well... Wish I had it back!
We're in the UK, and my wife, who's from Texas, insisted on having one of her favourite American washers, a Whirlpool top-loader. We finally managed to obtain one, and it's impressed all our friends, and it gets clothes much cleaner than the feeble European washers. It seems to get a real "grip" on cleaning the clothes, and has an impressive spin speed. You never normally see one of these Whirlpool washers in the U.K. but I can't see us ever going back to the European machines... why kneel on the floor to poke clothes though a hole in the front? Thank you, wonderful Whirlpool ! ..... David H.
Rubbish. Buy a german Miele frontloader and you will get a new inspiration of how a washmachine can clean clothes with less whater and much more efficent. Greatings from Germany. Agitator washmachines are interesting though. We had thoose things till the end of the 60ies.
I feel bad for those clothes that just got annihilated by that agitator:( I surely will NOT own a DD machine for a golden clock! (But I can thank this video for getting me more into washers, as this was one of the very first washer videos I ever saw)
It's your opinion, but in mine, I think it washes better than those HE washers. I have an DD at another house but a HE with my current one. It really had to rinse a 3rd time just to get the clothes Balanced. Definitely "Saving up water" But with respect ill let you stay with that opinion
the machine spins with all the water in it during the first drain because the neutral drain mechanism which is in the transmission somehow lets go of the ring gear while in the neutral drain position
Incredible speed on spin! And well balanced. As some makers designed their machines to pump water out, as the machine was spinning, in my opinion this caused a strain on the motor, not to mention the amps needed to propell the basket, filled with wet clothes! My 1997 Tappan, basically a Frigidaire-White consolidated model, it pumped out the water prior to spinning. Earlier models similar to my machine, made by Frigidaire spun while pumping the water out. My Mothers G-E Filter- Flo from 1978 was amazing, it spun and pumped out the water simultaneously, but its pump was amazing in moving water out of the Machine.
I thought this washer was supposed to have a separate neutral drain. The first was a spin-drain but the 2 other drains is here are the neutral drain you'd expect from this machine.
We had a whirlpool that had the exact same agitator and tub as this one then we got a conservator by crosly and then we got a my grandma's Amana washer it was one of the new one's we had it from the summer of 2016 but it started to get off balanced so we now have an old Amana that we got this year and i has a dual action agitator and it works great.
I dont mean to be so off topic but does someone know of a method to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly forgot my account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
@Franco Jalen I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
It sounded like they where advancing the timer with their fingers, AKA themselves and it threw it too far passed the drain and put it into spin. Those motors and transmissions on those machines are not designed to handle that kind of stress either.
@@ericpippen7915 no, the neutral drain mechanism in the transmission let go of the big gear due to the oil being too hot from not switching to a slower speed
@JSneaker I personally have found that the spin speed of a FL has not gotten my clothes any drier than the slower speeds of a TL. I used to use a FL all the time in college and the drying time was no shorter than if the clothes were washed with a TL.
esas lavadoras hacen todo el unico pero q yo le pongo es q gastan mucha agua pero estan super bien , solo hay q seleccionar toda la ropa de colores y hechar una buena carga para no desperdiciar agua

This machine is suppose to have a neutral drain. The transmission gears are partially shot I think. Whirlpool has forever designed their machines with neutral draining from day one. I think it's better at removing sand which can get trapped in your clothes from spin-drains. I had a 1992 Maytag in which I had to remove sand by had at the end of the wash cycles which sometimes took a couple of days and had to vacuum it out of the machine afterwards. That machine has spin-drains.
It this video the Whirlpool does a full load of towels and jeans. Cottons/Normal, hot water(55-60C), High agitate and spin speeds and a 2nd rinse (not shown). This washer has the best turnover and overall wash action I have seen in a modern washer. This is evident by the rapid movement of the heavy fabrics and strong water turbulence. I am very lucky to have one of the last series of machines made in Newton Iowa." Thanks for watching!
Two full rinses, huh? I don't think you could find a top loading machine that does more than one rinse today. And still sudsy! How much detergent did you use?
It rolls the clothes over, similar to a convection current. The mechanical action of the agitator removes dirt. Proven technology for 100 years and its still in use.
If it was loaded to its capacity this would not be happening. That agitator needs to have a full load for it to wash and work properly. They do an amazing job of washing, if used correctly...
I remember this vid from around the time it was new!! The classic dump the laundry in while it’s agitating method! I haven’t done that in so long

your neutral drain needs to be replaced and your transmission repaired
It's called spin drain.
Some machines don't need neutral drain. They had a feature called spin drain. It throws all the water into the outer tub and drains it from there.
Plus neutral drains are boring.
