One thing I wish was specified on the board and/or player aid is that military has a max of 2 recruit per turn. It mentions it in the rule book but not on the board/aid. This really jacked up my first game because everyone was paying 60 money at the end to put 12 military out and spending another 10 to move most of them to adjacent places and it was insane. Completely different game if you know you can only recruit a max of 2.
We've played 3 games now and just now re-read the setup where each player gests 5 population to start with. Changes everything lol. I wish that was more clear in the player aid.
Maybe the Rule has changed, but I think you made a small error @10:44, you can always take a Build action to build a City, Port or Town whether or not there are complementary cards available in the Offer. From the Rulebook "Note: It is always possible to build a City, Port, or Town for their usual cost without selecting a card." Similarly, you can take a Population or a Tax/Tariff Action when those decks are depleted as the cost - benefit is printed on the board, just as it is for the Build Action.
Seems like you made a few mistakes you said when build deck runs out players can no longer take that action. But the rulebook says you can always build a port city city or town without a card . Also on final scoring not really clear if each player has to have two of wonder city acheivent or if you have to run out of tiles on 2 of the categories rulebook makes it sound like if each player has gotten 2 of the three meaning combination of wonder golden age and city achievements not running out 2 of the 3 piles
"2 of 3 of the following tiles have all been taken by the players" Page 18 And one question, where does the rulebook say that you can always build port city, city or town? Can't find it.
@@PGCole pg 12: Note: It is always possible to build a City, Port, or Town for their usual cost without selecting a card. So that actually means you can do it at any time, regardless of a card being up there. Not just after the deck runs out.
@@slkrsmobilecan you do the same thing with population? Meaning pay food for the 2 population printed on the board if you don’t specifically want what the cards are offering? (Perhaps the only options are 4 which is to expensive or 1 which is less than you want)
@@KMReviews no unfortunately that's not as clear from the board iconography - but the population action (at least in the rule book), can only be taken after the deck is empty. I need to get more games in but I'm tempted to house-rule it is allowed to see how that plays out
During your turn, I'm pretty sure you can play any number of Tech cards from your hand as you want and have the necessary icons for (a few have restrictions printed on them).
Cool video. Is there a review for this? If yes would be good to link it in the video description. Ideally I want to watch the review first, and then the how-to play video :)
Great overview and explanation. The game looks very beautiful, although it is another game set around the Mediterranean. However the main issue I see is the set up time. You need to separate the build deck, shuffle the 4 decks 9 times, shuffle multiple tokens all face down of 3 types, find and remove 1 token, cover the entire board, flip all tokens and remove a heap, draft leaders but you have to read all of them, draft technology, work out an optimal starting position from the 80 places; and then pack up the game because the night is already over.
This looks like it would take at most 15 mintues to setup. Particularly if you ask the other players to help. The ? token shouldn't even be in the mix. Initial drafting is going to depend on how bad the players analysis paralysis is.
@@XShrike0 I will be guilty of the analysis paralysis! lol I will agree with Tom the token setup is the only part that is a bit off putting but I bet it will go pretty quickly even if just 2 players are handling it.
we just reveal the tokens as we place them and have a second person come behind and pickup the x's. it goes super fast. the longer part about setup is trying to find what you did with the different empire scoring cards so you can setup the decks. lol
Best rules explanation out of the 3 I have seen. Thx ❤
Once again the best how to play I’ve watched! Thank you for making it clear and as simple as possible!

Great walkthrough on the game. It really help soothe the anticipain while waiting for the FedEx delivery.
Wooot!
Thanks for teaching! Great job!
Thanks Henry 🙏😁
Really like intuitive tutorial!

@@slkrsmobile thanks mate. I found it a few days ago after re-reading the rules. Nearly every rulebook should be read again after one or two plays 😁
