- I scored a vintage Chanel bag for an incredible price point, which I'm unboxing with you in this video.This is my vintage Chanel bag unboxing of an incredible bargain. I did not really need that Chanel handbag, which technically is not even a bag. But this vintage Chanel piece has the potential to be converted into a handbag. Do you already get an idea? It is a caviar leather vintage Chanel vanity case, which would look so cute as a vanity bag. What do you think? Is it a keeper or a return?

Hi Mary! I think it’s a keeper! ❤. It’s in very good condition, and it’s a nice size for a bag. I think once you neutralize the scent, you can get an organizer made for it and your things will be protected from any residual scent. Besides the coffee beans, if you can, let it get air outdoors. That always helps when something is musty.

I would say it is definitely a keeper. I am sure you can clean out and condition a bit the inside to make it look even better. And even if it is a bit boxy, I think as a shoulder bag with a conversion kit it would suit you quite well because you are tall. And even if you din’t end up using it as a bag to go out, it’s a great piece for your collection and you can maybe find it a use to store… jewellery or SLG or small scarfs or of course cosmetics and make up as it was initially intended.

I definitely won’t add anything, that would put damage on the bag 🤔 but I do have an idea with attaching removable D-rings on the top handle 💡
@LuMiLevelUp I personally would use it as intended (vanity/cosmetic case). I never really like when wallets, cases, etc. are converted for another purpose but that's just me (seems to cheapen the look). I also only own Chanel eyeglasses so no expert in that brand. I admire the brand due to the price points now. If I didn't already have 2 really nice vintage LV cosmetic cases I would definitely look to add the vanity you purchased to my collection. I think you should keep it even if you want to convert it.

Such a great deal and wonderful idea!! I bought a vintage Chanel WOC but it was way too small. As eBay has the authentification service for free right now, I was able to sell it on quite quickly. I would also love a video on getting rid of smell or on „upgrading“ used bags. As you mentioned, that you sometimes paint the corners aso 😊

Mary, I would sooooo keep that bag! What a fabulous price point! She’s in decent condition too. Very beautiful bag! I love the whole vanity case as a bag thing … I have one from Coach, and I carry a vintage Louis Vuitton Cannes bag. Love the whole look! You can always send this beauty off for a bag rehab if you like. That caviar leather is gorgeous! ❤

In the UK, we have a "hand bag spa" where you can bring your bag to be refurbished/repaired/cleaned etc. If you have something like that in Germany, it could be an option if you're leaning towards keeping it. I am personally not a fan of converting items that aren't intended to be a handbag. You already have a beautiful classic flap. I think it's a great piece to display/use on your vanity and especially to use for travel. I think it is a fabulous vintage find. I'd keep it!!
I don’t have any experiences with bag spas here in Germany, but maybe I should do some research on it! Usually I‘m not the biggest fan of bag/SLG conversation either, but somehow I think, it might work very well on this piece 🤔. I‘ll definitely share an update video, once I decided what exactly I‘m going to do with it 🖤

How do you get rid of vintage smell?🤔💕💕😇
Either chemical hygiene spray (which I tried on this bag aswell and it was a terrible idea 🙈 going to share that in an upcoming video… luckily I just used it on the inside ), coffee beans, the freezer or airing out in the sun. I heard charcoal packs work aswell, but I didn’t try them so far.
