I’m confused as to how selfish this person is. My uncle was terminally sick. He had a wife and a daughter and sisters who doted on him and loved him very much. When he died he rested from years of misery. But he left a heartbroken family behind that never recovered.
This is what happens when someone does not believe in god. He thinks he can take his place.
If your talking about the man he helped his mother when he was a kid because she asked and he was worried because that she might go to hell but the priest comforted him saying it was ok and that he helped her ever since this when he sees that someone will be in pain from a non curable illness he helps them he gets help later on from the same priest
He is not selfish and he doesn't want to play God. He was a kid when his mom was heavily suffering from a terminal illness and she convinced him then to end her suffering by helping her to die. The kid got traumatized then and, as a grown up, he is doing this all over again, based on his trauma.
