Luna X2 Enduro Breaks Down On Third Ride

- I'm just an average guy who owns a new Luna X2 Enduro. These are my experiences with it. I hope you can relate.
May 15th and it's still broken. I have been doing all of the Seb G and Luna videos but nothing is working to fix the intermittent failure.
May 17th - to May 23: I was temporarily helping Luna to try and figure out what is wrong with it by doing test runs and collecting real time data and sending it to them. I am a software engineer by trade and that gave me an opportunity to try an help them with the Ludicrous controller and the VESC app by sending them good test data. They got the data. I still have a broken bike. Hopefully they will use it for everyone's advantage and take care of me soon.
May 24th Luna says the problem is with the "battery switch" So I eliminated it. I had to take the battery apart and short 2 wires together. You would think they would put a decent switch in a new bike. - Спорт
Hmmm....I was seriously considering getting an X2. That decision may be permanently on hold now.
I did fix it. And I do like it alot. Knowing that shit can happen, If you spend some time learning from the unorganized videos and documentation you will be able to keep it running.
Hey I just bought a x2 just like yours and I have the same problem also have error code 10 and a creaking noise coming from my bottom bracket. Sucks. Was wondering what they did for you to fix it and what your experience has been with customer service/support. I haven’t been able to get no real support to fix it. Mine gets hot too🤷🏼♂️
the problem is with the "battery switch" So I eliminated it. Seb has a video for it but its easy; I had to take the battery apart and short 2 wires together. You would think they would put a decent switch in a new bike. Luna is slow but I think they do just enough for you so that you won't return the bike. LOL "Say I am shipping this back" Seb will get back with you the next day. lol Please check my other videos how to deal with the heat and other issues.
Ugh I'm stuck between the Hydra and the Luna X2. I can get the Hydra for the same cost as the X2. (Hydra being low mileage demo
No noises. The motor is quiet. I would get the Luna X1 or X2 over what I was able to see on the Hydra black. The Rockshox's to me make it a no brainer.
@@beachbarlouie7522 Affiliate link incase i get the Luna? The option i have is the archon equipped hydra (not the black). DVO suspension, carbon wheels 10A charger, 2300w, magura brakes.
The current listing for the Luna X2 Rockshox edition.. conflicting info on the order page about whether it has the LUDI 2 controller.
When you try to spec to place in cart for ordering it says "ludicrous mode - none" as the only option.
@@robcoastalga8279 You might need to wait until they get more controllers. They were out before. I am not affiliated. But the Z1 is good too. I am most happy about the way they ride and handle and turn. Not so much the power but that is good too.
What are your final thoughts on this bike. Would you buy it again?
Probably. I know that doesn't help much. I have about 700 miles on it and I ride it all the time. I like it. The Bafang motor is not of high quality. I have replaced the mid gear and the nylon gear with a steel gear. I guess those parts are "wear out fast" items. Not expensive but you'll need to open the motor. Plus I got a new chain and sprockets. Tires are due now. So less then $300 maintenance so far. In my opinion, the newer one at 60 volts and 20 percent more power is even better and is equal or better than most others for the price.
Would you buy it again?
This is what I want to know.
Why does it sound like you're riding with a bell? Is the bike itself making that noise?
Warning bell
@@beachbarlouie7522 ahhh. So it has a heat sensor that actually talks before bighting the dust?
@@robcoastalga8279 Not that I know of. I haven't had an overheat.
Is this in Florida?
Yes. Timberlake Eglin AFB
Damn, I ordered one yesterday. The orders hasn’t processed yet. I may bail!
I like mine a lot. I didn't need to do anything after fixing the battery and maintenance. It's great stock. It can beat anything.
@@beachbarlouie7522 Thx Man.. This is the 3rd bike I’ve ordered in 3days. The others all wrote back saying they are back ordered! The Rockstar and Cobra Pro! Luna said order placed. But then nothing for 2 days! I’m expecting a message saying it’s bk ordered too.. Thx again for responding.
@@GDawg2K2 It took Luna 3 weeks about. Rockstar is not in same class.
@@beachbarlouie7522 Oh.. Your kidding! Great info on both subjects! Thx you..
Trying to order a Z-1 and have been waiting for them to process. How is the bike holding up. Should I order a new detailed or KMC chain right off?
So yes she was just a faulty battery switch...
So far
If you watch the videos it isn’t the switch at all. It is the push pin connectors that the battery sits in. It’s a good idea to put the bms to sleep but it isn’t necessary.
Looks like it overheated and shut down to prevent damage. Just happened to me on my x2

So I thought mine was overheating but it flashed error code 30. Did yours show an error code? Mine is doing the same as yours did.
@@ddddele9684 Error 30 means "Display can't reach the motor controller in the CANbus" CAnBus means (controller area network) The display may be not plugged in all the way or it could have been triggered by the error 10 when the Mosfets and or Motor reached over 95 or 120 C
See my video about Using the Throttle Technique to help from over heating. You don't want to do that much if at all. ruclips.net/video/KQMzblR6ovk/видео.html
What happened 😳
I checked the batteriey output and it was 54volts. I tripled checked the wires to the display, battery and controller. I am leading towards the controller being the problem.
@@beachbarlouie7522 ever figure it out?
@@tannerdns9048 I'm sure it's the Controller. What's the odds of that? I am hoping Luna takes care of this.
@@beachbarlouie7522 pretty crappy. I haven't seen anyone else with that issue. Poor solder joints maybe?
@@tannerdns9048 I heard of a few. The one I got with the bike may or may not be the new version that was supposed to be released in Feb this year. I do have the latest VESC app though.
Damn that sucks
