Apocalypse now blew me the fuck away. As a kid growing up with these cgi driven blockbusters I watched apocalypse now and truly couldn’t believe that it was actually made. It’s undoubtedly in my top 5 favorite films of all time.

The French plantation scene, IMHO, is one of the best scenes on all of Apocalypse Now. Which is, IMHO again, one of the greatest films ever made. Film, not movie.

      Well said. Film.... Not movie

films are movies u don't have to gate keep over a word. that being said, Apocalypse Now is one of my favorite films of all time, but I prefer the original cut to both REDUX and Final Cut. The plantation scene in my opinion is to heavy handed in its themes, and takes out the subtlety the original film had.

Agreed - as FFC says it adds historical perspective and the fact that, being a former colony, these people had 'roots'. I didn't know what Roger Ebert looked like and somehow thought that must be him👍

Would be a better movie if the movie ended with the airstrike and the beginning was tied to the end. I find it hard to believe that Coppola wanted the movie named "Apocalypse Now" to end with a sense of upbeat hope for peace.

I was always amazed that Roger Ebert was some sort of mystical film critic after he wrote the screenplay for one of the worst movies of all time, "Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls" Too crazy to be believed!
