Giant bikes are massively underrated......the Toyota Camry of mountainbikes. I am more than happy with my normal Trance 29er (115mm rear travel), have put a nice wheelset on it, it rips. Only if it gets super gnarly (Enduro courses) I need to slow down. Giant bikes might not have the flair.....but they are good bikes overall.
Moved from US to Oz a few years ago. Giant is massive here, where markup is less on them and people are more concerned with riding the kids out of their bikes and less concerned with them being from a boutique brand (I love the boutique brands as much as anyone else!). I own a giant road bike and got a cheap aluminum hardtail while my full tilt XC rig is warrantied. Both are awesome. The cheapo hardtail cost peanuts compared to other brands and absolutely rips.
Hey Jason. I used to own a 2021 Giant Trance X Advanced Pro 1 and I agree, it’s an excellent climbing bike and it descends awesome. I think it’s one of the best “balanced” trail bikes out there. Great climbing, great descending. BE Bikes has a great review on this bike as well and he had similar views on the bike as you do. Great job on your video!
Jason thank you for all your videos. I’m looking forward to your Ibis Exie review , I saw your set up from the last Q&A you did. Looks amazing love to hear more about the exie.
@@mtbyumyum thank you 😊 I have the Ripley as my daily ride since 2020 (importantly it was because of your reviews that I chose it, so big shout out for your hard work!), so I can understand why after getting the exie you got rid of the ripley. Bc they are a bit close in terms of travel compared to longer trail bikes. Thanks again and looking forward to hearing about the Exie, thanks for all you do for the community.
Great to see you reviewing this bike Jason. I've been waiting for a year to see what you thought of it. Slightly disappointed not to see it going down Jacobs Ladder!? 🤣 Too wet up there? I purchased the X Adv 1 in March 21 coming across from the 2017 Trance Adv 1. I've found this bike so much faster on the down hill bits and more composed. It gives me too much confidence for my own good. I preferred climbing on my old 27.5 though but it's marginal. No dropped chains on my model as it came with the chain guide and bash guard. Anyway thanks for the objective and interesting review. Cheers from NZ.
i got mine towards the end of last summer. didn’t get to ride it much just yet. this winter, i bought a GX AXS upgrade kit and Dark tanwall Maxxis tires, best looking bike ive ever owner. can’t wait to actually get to test it out.
I love my Trance Advanced 1 (27.5) and I always found Giant bikes were underrated. But I will soon be able to compare with a Ripmo. I hope I wont regret my nimble Maestro Trance XD
@@mtbyumyum I loved my Giant Trance 27.5 prior to my new bike which is the Ripmo. I agree Giant bikes are underrated and damn good bikes for a reasonable price.
Hey there. Loved your review as usual!Wondering how it compares to something I’ve demoed recently. How does it climb and descend compared to the Ripley AF? Thx.
Solid review on a bike brand a lot of people 💩on. You mentioned the travel was nice and active but supportive too, did you bottom out much if at all, seems like they have nice progression on the shock rate.
Hi Jason! I think that all your videos are accurate and complete. Good job! Just e little question: TALLBOY Vs TRANCE X, which one climbs better (in tecnical climbs and in long fire road climbs) and descends better? Thanks a lot! Alessandro from Italy
This bike and the Orbea Occam were the two bikes I really wanted. Due to availability, and having had a test ride from a friendly trail user, I bought the Rocky Mountain Instinct instead. Nice to see they are compared against each other in the same category.
Do you think the tackiness of the trail makes this seem much more controllable/stable and might it be getting a better review than a trail 429 or switchblade that you ride perhaps when drier conditions?? Tackiness changes everything and is glorious.
It was only perfect dirt the day I filmed this. I rode this bike for a week and my opinion/expensive hasn’t changed. I really liked this one!! The t429 is a better bike, only less versatile.
Excellent review! I am so glad you got a chance to ride this bike. I know that the regular Trance is the real deal and a bang for the buck champion. This bike kind of reminds me of the OG Hightower, with some updated geo, such a versatile category of bikes. The Maestro suspension has historically been a step above what's available from other the Big 3, although Specialized has upped its game with their flex pivot designs. Love seeing all the great options out there these days.
Totally. The og hightower when it came out was a game changer. This has that same poppy feeling and awesome geo. Glad this bike didn’t get to much “enduro” in its dna like a lot of bikes have in the past few years.
BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!That was amazing,,Tyler is the SH____- on that bike, You both are FLYING and nailing it.I had fun just watching and damn near nothing impresses me..I am going to check out the Trance 3,and see if it fits..My last one was a Cannondale F700 with most of the parts changed, and of course a hardtail...
I can’t decide if I want this new trance X for 5k, or if I want to buy a brand new 2019 trance 29 pro 0 (115 rear travel top end build - also for 5k, original Msrp $8700). Any thoughts? I’m leaning toward the less travel older model but wasn’t sure if you thought the new geo longer travel, lower end build was worth it….my questions are annoying, I know. Thanks for the videos.
Hello, Thank you for all your really interesting videos. Did you have every tried an YT Izzo ? What could be your opinion vs ripley and trance X ? Thank you in advance
I think the Trance is the better overall bike. Better suspension. Love the geo on the stumpy and it’s lighter weight. Good luck! I would call Chris at Salt Cycles 801-943-8502 and see what kind of deal he can get you on the Pivot Trail 429… better than both other options.
The weight difference on Giant alloy bike is really not too much heavier than the carbon Giant bikes.... other brands alloy are pretty heavy tho... I think Giant makes a really nice alloy frame!
Hey Jason. I'm currently looking at 29ers in this travel range.. Does this Trance feel plush over chatter or does it skip over the top more? Wondering how it does in that regard vs the Instinct. Also, is it a more efficient pedaler and climber? Thanks! 👍
Maybe not as plush as the instinct. More supportive feeling, slightly. Climbs better I think… would need to ride them back to back. I could maybe flip a coin between these two bikes for my one and only bike…
