Hi friends! I hope you enjoyed this video on how to use Anki cards to review faster and improve your studying in med school! Do you use Anki!? How do you use it and how different is it from my Anki strategy!? How do you maximize using flash cards for your study process!? Let me know along with any questions you have below!
This is important because if you take way too long to do Anki it almost becomes not worth it. It is meant to be a quick process - if you don't know it, move on because it will come back for review again! Great tips :)
I've started using this technique. Makes life so much easier. Less time preparing, more time studying. Do the flashcards regularly and eventually it will all stick in. As the info in each flashcard will be great, I try to lecture out loud all the information and then review to see how many point I got correct. I combine this with the brain dump method taught in the other video. Fantastic!
Hey! I just subscribed to your Dominion bundle, and was looking for more Anki content so I went here. I see that with your Anki method, you’re making cards BEFORE lecture rather than afterwards. What are the benefits to this? On one hand, I see the value of credit cards early and review potential questions on the exam. On the other hand, do you think it’s gonna take up a lot of time going back to these cards (by searching through the browser and tags for each card) and annotating each one that I took notes on in lecture?
I don't love this method. I prefer cloze deletion or image occlusion. HOWEVER, recently I was really short on time and needed to quickly cover some lectures for psychopathology so I just used this method and ended getting an 83 on the exam. So it is effective especially when you have a time constraint, it's definitely better than nothing. I wouldn't do this if i had ample time though. Mainly because a big flaw of this method is its failure to weed out low-yield info. Also, cloze deletion is much better at helping you learn nitty gritty details while getting the whole picture.
Hey there I have a quick question about how you use Anki. Do you create a study deck for every lecture or do you clump all the cards into a large deck (E.g A deck for Test 1, Test 2, etc.)?
Hey, great video. I just started medical school and have been applying your strategies. Right now it takes me about twenty to thirty minutes to make a flashcard per lecture, then about 1-2 hours to really get the material down with anki. But how much time did you spend reviewing your old anki decks, because right now most of my time is spent reviewing all my old ones. Do you ever suspend a deck or did you always review all of the cards you ever made.
If you're having trouble reviewing then I would add specific session in your calendar to review a specific deck. For example. Monday 6-6:45: Review Lecture 10. During these instances I tend to do a cram session through the Anki options to see all the cards. I delete anything that irrelevant (useless card). I try to schedule each lecture 2 more times before the test (if possible). This usually means I review the lecture the first time (not including the day of the lecture) during that coming weekend. Then I review it on a specific day a few days before the quiz or test. Hope that helps!
I got a question. If you only take 10 seconds to answer the card, how can you repeat the whole thing in such a short time? I mean most of the time a subject is huge and the cards won't be that short. I could never answer a whole card in only 10 seconds und learn something new in 10 seconds. For example I'm studying right now for pathology. How would you do that?
Thanks for your helpful videos. I am a homeschooling educator, and I am working to incorporate Anki into our daily middle school studying routine. I like your 10 second timer suggestion for reviewing a flashcard. Do you use a setting in Anki to it, or do you simply mentally pace yourself?
Hey i have android and my anki is called ankidroid and it can't do much compared to what yours has done in some other videos, is there any way to purchase and use the good anki without owning apple products? its the same blue and gray star symbol and everything.
Hi! Thank you for your video, it's very helpful! Do you think that the default anki settings are good enough? I don't know that much about anki so I don't want to mess with it if i don't have to!
@@TheMDJourney Awesome! Thanks :) Just one more question: Would you recommend this approach for anatomy? I'm a first year dent student, and I have found it hard to keep up with Anatomy...I've been using image occlusion but it takes a long time. Any tips? Thanks!!
I have used anki no doubts it’s best.. But right now I don’t have laptop my old one ain’t working. I used Ipad air for studies But anki app is not free.. i tried anki web and shortcuts were not working. So how can i use anki? Is anki worth for paying although is available for free at some place?

Glad its helping! Keep us posted on your results :)
I would also check out the AnKing deck because I think it's the most comprehensive anki deck out there for Step 1 & 2!
Your smooth voice is so easy to listen too, and adds to your quality content!
Haha glad it's not awful to listen to 😜
Love your videos man! You've been a great help through my med school journey!
Glad to hear it! Thanks for the super kind words :D

Have you made a video on Anki options? I would love to know what options you set. Thanks!
Not yet!

My pleasure 😊

Big Anki deck for class with decks underneath per class/lecture
Hi The MD Journey, I like your content. I love watching your videos.
Glad you like them!

There's a free add on called speed focus that you can use. If you look up my add on video for Anki I go over how to use it!
@@TheMDJourney , thanks!

I tend to use default! When I'm doing a mass review of a lecture I use the cram function to make sure I see all the cards.

You may be able to find pre made anki cards since anatomy doesn't change much
and when 10 or 20 seconds do not support the amount of information?

I paid for it on my iPad just to have that option.
Def worth paying for.
Good job
Thanks
your all about effiency and not using Win+Shift+S. cmon man!
Haha shame on me
Great vids. You’ve inspired another one to use anki. Currently at the top of the illusion curve.
Awesome.
Glad you think so!
Thank you
You're welcome ❤️
